That's stupid - why would you fire your coach two nights AFTER the draft? Wouldn't you want to have a new coach in place beforehand so he can pick the kind of players that will fit in his system? So now the new guy will have to live with a bunch of players he didn't necessarily want, apart from those vets he was already stuck with....not smart.

Of course, what do you expect from the town that thought 17mpg was the future of the auto business?

Very strange timing on this. After the draft and right as free-agency starts. Sounds like the coach and Dumars weren't seeing eye-to-eye on who to spend their money on. This will either push the Pistons towards Boozer or Millsap, depending on which way Dumars sees fit.

Why do you fire the coach when you traded away the allstar point-guard an brought in an old decaying cancer. My guess is Captain Dumars is trying to save his job by showing his boss the "hard" changes he's making to move the team forward.

He's made several bone-head moves in the recent past, it's time for him to go.

Dumars team | 2:43 p.m. June 30, 2009
Dumars is a prideful man and he has made some moves that will either make or break the franchise. in detroit they love him but I think they are wondering if lightning will strike twice.
Joe Dumars has some deserved slack due to the fact his team has won recently. But he needs to move quickly because outside of the lions the Detroit fan base doesn't tolerate losing well.

My guess is that Joe wanted Curry to take on Lambeer as an assistant for a year and Curry probably saw the righting on the wall. Don't be surprised to hear that Bill Lambeer is the next Pistons coach. If booz goes there they will probably be mid pack east if not it looks like lottery time. either way Michael Curry isn't important Truth be told Flip wasn't all that important either chauncy was probably the biggest factor in hind sight but then again it's joes team and he thinks he matters.
