Good Luck Badger | 10:16 p.m. June 30, 2009
Represent the state of Utah well! Good luck at ND. It has a great tradition overall and I think it's great for him to expand his horizons and a different school than in state. Sounds like he has heart and desire. That will get you far, but football is ultimately a physical game and physical talent and skills will prove who makes an impact or not. Even though he might not fit in as a safety up at ND I'm sure he has a spot to show what he is made of and I hope he makes the most of it. We know you won't be the next Eric Weddle but good luck! Oh yeah.....go Utes!!

I am interested in where you get your "facts" that Utah had More Div I recruits signing than did Colorado. Do you have a source or proof or are you just making it up. Enquiring minds want to know? Also does it have anything to do with Colorado having only 2 DIV I schools (Football Programs) Compared to Utah's 3 Div I Schools?

By the Way Badger's signing with ND is pretty big news on the Football/sports wires.
Amazing | 10:47 a.m. July 1, 2009
Local kids go out of state in every state. Get off it, this kid made a choice he felt would fit him best. It really doesn't matter what anyone thinks, especially on a sports blog filled with haters from the local newspaper.

Great Choice | 10:57 a.m. July 1, 2009
Well done, Mr. Badger. Anyone who has set foot on the Notre Dame campus and been in that stadium would be dumb as dirt not to get an education there and play for the Irish if given the chance.

Good for him to get outside of Utah and show what he can do. Here's a Domer who can't wait for him to arrive in South Bend.

The dot.com stars are not that reliable. The companies make the ratings and then try to make money selling those ratings. They are still hit and miss. They look good on paper but you never know until they step on the field. Good luck to Chris. Looking forward to the news season. Not looking forward to all the hate that spews forth from the mouth of fans.
40 | 1:35 a.m. July 2, 2009
a 4.65 - 40 is pretty slow for someone that is going to play D1 CB, i've seen a few kickers run faster

re: ND byu | 5:47 p.m. June 30, 2009

//Badger has Zibikowski written all over him, tough as nails, good pick up.//

Zbikowski was never and will be as good as Eric Weddle or even Jason Allen.

I agree w/ the poster that questioned his 40 time for someone in the secondary.

I thought Timpview was BYU JC.

Shouldn't have Badger signed w/ Wisconsin.

Go Utes | 11:07 a.m. July 2, 2009
College should be all about going away from home and having new experiences and meeting new people. Going to Timpview and then onto BYU sounds like a total drag to me. Young Man, go have a great time, get a great education and meet lots of new people that will help you for the rest of your career where ever it takes you.
I am always happy to see young people get out from under the stranglehold of the zion curtain.
Good Luck!

More power to this kid. He should be an asset and able to have some impact. Hopefully after this year he'll also have a New Coach !!!!!!
Good Luck...there's plenty of room to be proud of him.
Good luck Chris! | 7:30 a.m. July 5, 2009
This is the chance of a lifetime! An opportunity to play at the most storied college football program. They have great traditions that are followed. Make us proud Chris!

Trust me. Finesse Safeties are a dime a dozen. Big hitting Safeties such as Bills and Badger are rare. Few Safeties can intimidate WR's coming across the middle such as these two. And few are as good at stopping the run. Want to be impressed, go to You Tube and type in "Chris Badger." Watch his highlight film. Watch his downhill movement to close on runners. Watch his tackling technique. Watch him hit WR's. He'll play. He'll play Special Teams as a freshman. He'll make a few big hits and will become a household name due to NBC coverage. He'll be another Zibby from ND.

4.65 40??? i dont know who this kid is, but that wont cut it at the next level. work on it and you'll do good

good luck
SLCguy | 4:23 p.m. July 6, 2009
A real 4.65 40 is FAST for a HS kid.

If you think these kids don't improve in college you're rowing with one oar in the water.

It's also really about GAME speed. Football isn't a track meet, a slower guy in the right place with the right reactions and technique can absolutely KILL world class speed.

In Football the race DOESN't always go to the swiftest. If it did the Raiders would win the SuperBowl every year.
Over Standford?  | 11:00 a.m. July 7, 2009
If it was any school in Utah or Notre Dame - Notre Dame hands down. But if he gave up Stanford I hope it was because of grades. Norte dame is a great school but it is no Stanford.

Like LE said, "if BYU could get all of the LDS athletes to play at BYU, then we'd be in the national championship hunt every year".
Dennis | 6:12 a.m. July 8, 2009
Good call in the part of Chris.
It's funny, Cougar fans are too close to the system to see why so many players don't want to be there.
For the rest of us, it's pretty simple. The program is awful at it's best.
not to be rude but... | 10:05 a.m. July 8, 2009
This guy could barely stop a weak Pleasnt Grove team that wasn't even good enough to get to the semis. By all accounts PG actually should have won that game. Not saying he doesn't have talent but he's not the best out there by any means.

A Missionary Moment???????????
What!?
Just saying.... | 5:00 p.m. July 9, 2009
A 4.65 forty is good or bad depending on who times it. There's lots of players who really run something around there but their happy finger coaches time them at a 4.3 or something ridiculous. There's also coaches that time slower average. And yes Utah really does have more D1 signings than Colorado, look it up on scout.
re: not to be rude | 10:05 a.m. July 11, 2009
wow everyone has bad games but you cant judge him on one game. if you also can remember past that PG game he also took his team to win a state championship. the kid has loads of tallent and he is obviously talented enough to go to ND and all of the other big schools that recruited him like LSU, FSU, and Stanford.

Everyone stop ripping on this kid and trying to bring him down.

Best of luck man!!!
just curious? | 10:51 a.m. July 13, 2009
does anyone know if badger is catholic? this may be a dumb question seeing as he is from timpview but i'm just wondering. best of luck chris!

Years ago Chris played on the same super-league baseball team as my son. Chris was always a very likeable kid. Back then he was most serious about skiing and competed regularly in ski events. Good athlete, great attitude, very likeable, and a team player. I wish him all the best and have every confidence he will represent himself and the state he comes from well. I am absolutely certain he will be liked at ND by his teammates.
Provo High Fan | 5:15 p.m. July 15, 2009
this kid is a good ball player. He gets to go to ND - that's cool for him. that being said, ND's program is shot. Charlie Weiss will not succeed there and ND needs to see that and make a change sooner rather than later. Their schedule this year is substantially weaker than BYU. ND's opponents were a combined 76-77 last year and their ranked opponents are ranked 5th, 18th, and 19th. BYU's opponents were a combined 80-71 and their ranked opponents are ranked 2nd, 7th, and 11th. During Mendenhall's 4 years BYU is 38-13 while ND is 29-21. The last time ND ended the season ranked higher than BYU was Mendenhall's 1st season at BYU. BYU has better winning pct; higher rankings; tougher schedule and a more dynamic coach. Notre Dame plays in front of 80,000 while BYU plays in front of 65,000. Until ND makes an uptick I would have to say that, for now, BYU has a better football program than ND. Not only that, I would have to say (with a big sigh) that Utah has a better program than BYU. (right now)
notre dame is better | 1:58 p.m. July 16, 2009
notre dame beat byu
His decision | 2:29 p.m. July 19, 2009
Good luck to this kid. Why should people bash a young man for going to the school HE chooses to attend? Show the true colors of those people here in Utah who claim red or blue as their favorites. Good luck, young man.
Kody | 9:49 a.m. July 22, 2009
This kid is a flat out stud!!!!! I would have loved to see him play for my Utes, but I still want him to do well! Trust me he will succeed because he has football in his blood. Excellent decision Chris!!!! Rip it Up!!!!
HAHAH | 3:35 p.m. July 24, 2009
HAHAHA he won't play at Notre Dame! Some slow white kid from utah won't help the Irish get back to Winning. Good luck with you "4.65" 40 time guarding ROJO and Damian Williams from USC! HAHAHA
Utah Prep Football | 7:29 a.m. July 25, 2009
Badger going to Notre Dame is another example of how high Utah prep football has risen in the eyes of national recruiters. No matter how much we all hate open enrollment, it has created several powerhouse programs that attract national attention. Can't believe how some fans are negative on Badger. First, we should be proud we have athletes getting national attention. Second, how can a local fan know more then the coaches at Florida State, LSU, ND, Oregon, Utah/BYU, Cal, Stanford, Missouri. You really think those coaches would recruit this kid if they didn't think he'd play. Hard hitting Safeties are hard to come by.
good | 9:26 p.m. July 25, 2009
Good move, son. Good move. Best of luck to you.
Jason D. | 6:40 a.m. Nov. 14, 2009
Haha.. ND going to a BCS game this year? How's that loss to Navy feel? To be honest, until Notre Dame gets rid of fat Charlie, Badger would have a better shot at a BCS game with Utah, BYU, or Boise State than he would at ND. That being said, I don't think he fits well into the BYU scheme with their modified Cat-back stuff they run. He isn't that good a fit at the U either because he isn't as quick as what the U already has. I think he made the right choice for his education (everyone respects a ND degree) and we'll see how he fits in at ND. Everyone said Te'o wouldn't play a lick at ND and he gets plenty of time as a true freshman. Good luck Badger.
