Top prospect? | 9:13 p.m. June 30, 2009
Hope he's not overated like his brother and only gets the hype for being from provo. I wanna see the kid do good, not get schooled by better players throughout the region. Hope he's way better than his brother ever was, or will be
USU | 10:25 p.m. June 30, 2009
Why so much hate for USU...? BYU always gets it's man- what are you fans so worried about? USU only gets the guys BYU happens to "overlook"... Se you next year in the Spectrum! Finally!

would have made a name for himself no matter what school he would have gone to. If your talent level is high enough there's not a wrong choice. He was going to stand out no matter what.
Hey Kid if you actually read .. | 1:47 a.m. July 1, 2009
.. these comments most of them are ridiculous. Right away I won't waist your time with this instate babble. If you want to go pro and actually improve on your skills you'll rank the coaches from the state this way.
1. Stew Morrill - best development wise + opportunity
2. Coach Boylan - NBA fmr coach
3. Randy Rhae - (hey the Allred kid played in cleveland with LeBron - nothing the Y can brag about)
3. Coach Rose - best way to flop

If I were able to give a little common sense advice, you will have a better chance by going to a big program out of state. By the way out of Utah can be a lot of fun .. and most people do respect your religion and values. There are LDS girls there.
if it were me .. look at these out of state schools the most

tier 1

1 Jim Boeheim
2 Mike kzrycheski (sp?)
3 Roy williams

tier 2

1 Arizona's new coach
2 Jim Calhoun
3 Tom Izzo

Teir 3

1 Calipari - Kentucky
2 Bill self
3 U of Pitt

After that you are probably waisting your time if you want to go to the NBA.
Re: Come on Aggie Fan | 9:42 a.m. July 1, 2009
I must have counted many of our tournament wins but a BYU fan wouldn't know anything about that I guess...
Collinsworth | 9:51 a.m. July 1, 2009
Is good. No one will argue that. But he plays in Utah, hardly known for its athleticism. He did not do much out at the NBA Camp besides pass. He has a good first step and can get to the rim here, but not on a national stage against athletes that are on a higher level athletically. He's not going to Utah or USU, you saw that his list was down to five. As someone said above, BYU has done a great job stealing local recruits and turning them into great players: Jackson Emery, Garner Meads, Charles Abuo, Tyler Haws. Collinsworth will end up at BYU mark my words. BYU has the guys to be competitive for years to come.
USU all the way | 9:05 p.m. July 1, 2009
if he gets the chance to watch the cougs get rocked in the Spectrum next year it might just be all he needs baby!

Go Aggies!
schooled | 3:07 p.m. July 2, 2009
Here is the real problem...he plays at Provo High, he is limited on the type of ball they play...his skills are good enough for Provo and 4A but he himself says he needs to improve on his ball handling and his outside shot...lets just say quickness would improve all those...because as a guard at 6' 7" he does not have three of the four traits you need...go some where where you really play point if that is what you want to learn to do and be able to shoot when you are open not in a Provo High offense.
Anonymous | 7:25 p.m. July 2, 2009
Collinsworth is the real did. A week ago. He went to the BYU's Elite Camp. I've been around this game for more than twenty ears. Kyle was better than 90% of BYU's roster right now.
Utah State? | 9:02 a.m. July 3, 2009
They are not even on his list currently - trust me - so get over it aggie fans. No chance!
BYU is just competative..and | 4:48 a.m. July 5, 2009
.. nothing more. Can we review the ranking list on recruits. yBu manages to trick these kids into thinking that the church doesn't exist on Utah State or the U. Most of the players they get are between 85-95 on the talent ranking list. Why can't they win their own conference tournament .. or not get blown out by texas A&M by 10+ points 2 years in a row.
I'm sorry your Coach has cancer, I work as a medical professional & understand what he is going through... come on Ybu fans you have to be realistic here. Come NCAA tournament time .. Come conference tournament ... well how do you put it.
You loose. Its that simple.

Btw .. hhmm an interesting note another Provo high graduate .. Tai Wesley plays for USU. ooohh ouch .. what happened on that one. His brother played for Ybu didn't he? & an ALL Wac/MWC player?

When you guys hire the right coach .. like minded coach .. aka .. Bronco Mendenhall your program will not just recruit these top Mormon athlete's but you'll win.
btw .. Bronco spoke at our institute before recruiting Riley Nelson while on his mission. hhhmmm Ethical? 8^S ?
Uncle Reality | 4:25 p.m. July 5, 2009
Of course this kid is not going to BYU. Just remember, he is 17 years old and he has never witnessed a BYU team win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. He would have to be 20 years old to witness a BYU win in the Tournament.
6-7? | 8:31 a.m. July 6, 2009
And now someone has him listed at 6-7? wow, by the thime this board is finished, this kid will have grown to 7 feet and will be a real catch. Have seen him in person many times. Terrific player. very good skills. Similar to Haws. but about the same size, 6-4 1/2 maybe. He is not 6-6 or 6-7 as this board claims.
HUH | 11:15 a.m. July 6, 2009
Re: Come on Aggie Fan | 9:42 a.m. July 1, 2009

You stated your wins over the last 3 years. HOW MANY TOURNAMENT WINS DOES USU HAVE the last 3 years? I am counting NIT and NCAA. Get out of the campus steam room and clear your head....that is why you should not go to a State school for your education. Let me help you out. The answer = 0

By the way.... How many tournament wins does Utah State have under the great Beef Stew? NCAA and NIT combined =1. WOW..... Oh.... one more question Aggie fan.... How many tournament wins does Stew have in his 23 years as a head coach.....drum roll please........ YEP ... you guessed it. "1"

Re: HUH? | 6:09 p.m. July 6, 2009
Have you ever heard of a conference tournament...? USU has won thiers twice in the last three years, maybe as a BYU fan you should concentrate a little more on your Mountain Worste tourny because we've all seen your efforts in the NCAA tourney and it = pathetic.
USU | 11:43 a.m. July 7, 2009
RE: Re: HUH? | 6:09 p.m. July 6, 2009

Keep living off that ONE NCAA tourney win. I guess Weber St with 2 tournament wins has more than you in the last 30 years. They must be a better program.

Enthusiast | 7:44 p.m. July 7, 2009
This kid is good. Way better than tyler haws, cj wilcox, and even his brother. people keep saying that if he goes somewhere else he will ride the bench, but not at in state schools. BYU and UTAH are good programs if he can start there, he can start at most pac 10, big 12, and big 10 schools. He is going to be good no matter where he goes. I went to west and saw provo lose in the state championship, he was a class act even in a loss. He is something special. just wait.
re:top prospect | 8:17 a.m. July 8, 2009
Positive: heigth

Negative: shooting range
quickness
ball handling
defending smaller guard

Good Junior College Player

re: re top prospect | 12:33 p.m. July 8, 2009
Your ability to rate players stinks. He's 6'7 and I think Kyle could end up taller at 6'9 or 6'10. For a player his size he handles the ball well. He shoots well. Most guys in college basketball can't shoot period but he shoots well and very well for his size. He does probably need to bulk up. I think he has good defensive fundamentals as does all of Craig Drury's players but he could improve there. He might need to develop more of a post game. But a player of his size, he is quick, he passes and shoots well and is capable of handling the ball. He is also a winner. He's started for three years and his teams have won two titles and placed second once. He was a key cog on those teams and with one year to go, his record as a player if Provo competes or wins a title would be hard pressed to be duplicated. I think anyone would be lucky to get him as a player. I hope he either ventures out of state or perhaps goes to USU or BYU.
re: 6'7 | 4:18 p.m. July 8, 2009
No he actually is 6'7. I know him personally. He is the real deal
he's not 6-7 | 8:46 a.m. July 9, 2009
I know him personally as well. and he and his family are amused by this board. he probably will be though, as he is continuing to grow from what im told.
yes, he is | 4:35 p.m. July 15, 2009
I saw him measured for the 08-09 season and he was a smidge over 6'6". That was in October of 08. He was measured with his shoes on. Give his shoes an inch and that would have made him 6'5" and quarter in his socks. That was almost 10 months ago.
blah blah !! | 11:25 p.m. July 19, 2009
if you are good enough to make a nba roster it does not matter where you play they will find you.. when utah becomes more diverse is when real d1 programs will respect the talent here & actually recruit some of these guys.
??? | 5:43 p.m. July 27, 2009
A basketball player who wants to be a guard yet cant shoot a 20 footer?

Must be 6'7" and athletic, which you cant teach...
Dear Kyle | 6:21 p.m. Aug. 6, 2009
Although it would be nice to be in the comforts of home and Utah, you should really try to get to other schools that will best suit your needs to grow. The bigger schools will give you more experience and competition. You will be recognized for possible overseas basketball as well.

You have great talent, and should pursue getting better if this is a career you wish to pursue. Good luck.
Jen Hamson | 6:25 p.m. Aug. 6, 2009
Not to rain on the parade, but has anyone heard about Jan Hamson and her recruiting schools. Anything DNEWS?
RE: Gretzky | 11:01 a.m. Nov. 10, 2009
Just so you know Kansas is one of the top 5 basketball schools in the country. I don't understand why it matters if you don't have anything to write home about, and I don't think that's true either. Kansas is a school centered around basketball, he would experience something that's so rare to athletes. Not only that but Bill Self is one of the elite coaches in college basketball as well. I also don't understand why you're trying to tell a kid that you probably don't even know where to go to school. He'll make the right choice for himself.
