I don't know about the descendants, but the Icelandic people, being very egalitarian, would most likely not accept a priesthood that excludes women.
Eternal marriage sounds more like a sentence than a promise. Jesus said there are no marriages in heaven. We are to reach heaven as individual souls.
The inheritance of land now we are getting to the crux of why most people originally followed Joseph Smith and Brigham Young.
"We are to reach heaven as individual souls." This is true. If one partner or the other commits sin and is unrepentant, they will not reach celestial glory. It is up to both individuals to honor the covenants made.
"Jesus said there are no marriages in heaven" I have never read that. Please cite.
At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.
in fact there is nothing about marriage in matthew 23.
