Dear Sheilah,
I went through a divorce 24 years ago and I turned much to JOB in the Bible for help. I felt totally alone belonging to a church that advocated family and marriage. I went to a church leader to ask if I could organize a support group for women just like me who were devasted and had noone to talk to. I applaud your honesty about reading scriptures to get you through your divorce. My divorce group ended up having 9 women in it for over 2 1/2 yrs. Some of them I am still in contac with today.

Thanks for your comment Carolyn. I totally understand. We need to support each other, and I'm glad you did that. I think many churches should be more supportive of their members who are going through divorces as that is a time when we need each other and the Lord a great deal. God bless you!

I, too, went through a divorce 2 years ago this month. And ironically, my ex-husband and I named our first child after the book of Job. Thank goodness I have that daily reminder to press on, be patient, and know that there's much more to look forward to.

I'm also thankful for my support group - a host of friends and my very best friend, my mom - that helped me get though, and continue to help me get through the aftermath (especially since we have children together). "Land Mines" is a great tool to incorporate with support groups and spirituality.
