Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. All of the kiddos out there who choose to not look back at history ought to take a lesson from this. Whether this is just for show or not shouldn't matter. Ignore everything that happens unless it's on the field. If he can throw some more, let him. If he can't, let him ride off into the sunset in peace... and that goes for any athlete. Yeah, they make crazy good money, but there are other things that play as factors when they're making decisions. No one cried when Jordan came back, and personally, I enjoy it when any, as you said, legend chooses to keep on playing no matter the controversy. Try thinking of it like this: if he does play, this will give you, your kids, and your kids' kids another chance to see a living legend in action.. period. Why complain when sports as a whole is losing many of its icons due to retirement, drug enhancements, etc...? Just sit back, take a deep breath, and wait for the season to arrive. After all, no one is forcing you to keep up with any of this.

You have too much perspective, you make entirely too much sense, to be writing a sports blog entry about Brett Favre. I thought only self-indulgent whiners were allowed to pontificate about him & tell him what to do.

The irony of all this is that, outside of a few people like you, Brett Favre is the one whose had the most rational things to say about this whole "saga": "It's just football. It's not life & death."

I would love to see the legend continue! I say if he's healthy enough to endure a full season and he's motivated to give it 110%, GO FOR IT!! Speaking of Michael Jordan's come back, does anyone remember Phil Jackson or Jerry Reinsdorf saying to Michael " Sure Mike you can come back but only as a back up"? That's what the Packers Mgmt did to Brett! Some of their brains must leaked out when they made that decision!!

I am happy for him. I hope Gree Bay fans will be a class act and remember all that he gave them. I think they will. Its a game Green Bay. Remember you moved on. So can he.

Sage = okay but not going to lead the vikings to the super bowl within 3 years (the time before the nucleus of this current team will begin to age or fall apart)
booty = will be a great qb in 3 years
Favre = OUR ANSWER NOW!!!

We already hate the pack but have a deep respect for favre even when he played there. I can't wait until he signs with us, regardless of the outcome at the end of the year. It will be a fun ride

Why did you tell the Jets you were going to retired and when they let you go you are going ( maybe ) to play for the Vikings. For you this is a joke or your EGO is so bigg that you need averybodies attention to be happy. Another thin Brett, you have to realize that you are old for Football, and that your family has to be tired from you indecisions. Why you do not stay at home, be happy with your family and let the people enjoy the game and forget you ? Is this what make you come back ? You don t want to people forget you ? Do not by selfish, you are not better than a lot of players and they knew the time when they have to retire. Be a man not a crying baby who wants everybodies attentions.

Well, this GB Packers fan is greatful for the years he gave us, sorry the current management wouldn't allow him to finish in GB, and certainly wishes him all the luck in the world playing for a team that wants him. Remember, nothing is ever guaranteed, so Vikes fans, enjoy the ride, whatever happens and hopefully you will see the end of the rainbow this year. But, if not, please, do enjoy the season you have with the guy under center that I think is the best ever. Also, it will be kinda cool, since Brett Favre will probably break Jim Marshall's consecutive start record, that he will also be in a Viking uniform.

Its gonna be funny to read the spin all the other writers have to put on this Farve thing if the Viks actually do make the SuperBowl. This was probably the best article I've read about it. I'm glad I'll get to see Farve play one more year. He is one of the most Legendary athletes ever. Anyone who says they don't care but talks about it is a liar. I'd bet the Viking-Packer games will be some of the most watched games this year.

The Jets did not have to release Favre when he retired. Favre asked for his release (obvious that he might come back), and they granted it. The Jets didn't need Favre anymore (drafting Sanchez at QB). How does that mean he betrayed them? They both got what they wanted out of last season and both moved on. I don't understand how people just assume everything happens because Favre is a "crybaby".

He did that because he never wanted to play for the Jets. There was an interview with him at Disneyworld in February, google it. He explains what went down last Aug 6. He thought he was going to Tampa, the Jets were calling him but he wasn't even returning their calls. But then he hears (from ESPN, not even from Packers) that he's traded to Jets. He so much did not want that, that he even briefly considered reretiring, he said. But he decides to try to make best of a bad situation and do what Packers tell him to. Now it's clear the Jets don't want him either, they have Sanchez. So why are you going on about Favre being with Jets, when neither favre nor Jets want that anymore? Favre and Jets both "moved on," Packers "moved on." You need to "move on" too.

Favre was buried by the Pack when they shipped him to the Jets...a team that lacked an offense. He instantly made them better especially when they could actually run and have a two-pronged attack. Favre messed up his arm because in the end that is all the Jets had and they did to him what the Brewers did to Sabathia. Favre with the successful surgery and rehab can give the Vikes what they desperately need...a leader under center. This will be a dangerous team as long as Peterson is not lost in the Favre hype. I can't wait to see the screen from Favre to Peterson. That is scary good!

It would be perfectly fine if Favre wanted to PLAY. But he doesn't. His only motivation is to GET BACK at those meanies in Green Bay who treated him oh so bad! This is especially stoopid when you compare his Jets stats to Aaron Rodgers' numbers. Rodgers beat him in EVERY CATEGORY. So the Green Bay brass made the right decision, and Favre is still whining like a little girl who got her lollipop stolen. GET OVER IT! If he does join the Vikings, his new name will forever be Bette Favre!
