1A-2A Defender | 12:40 a.m. June 21, 2009
1A-2A should have won no question they just didn't wanna make 3A look bad after all they should be better anyways to bad they aren't they just merely got lucky at the end of the game! 1A-2A are the true winners of the game! But 3A have fun with Juan And Manti! They will show you what it's like to be dominated from previous 2A teams! Braves perty much dominated the last 2 years back-2-back baby!!!!!

Thanks 3A for the great game and if you boys were trying to insult us by calling us hicks and farmboys we take that as a compliment. Us hicks showed you how we do it down on the farm. It was great to play in and was the funnest game i've been a part of.

I'm interested to see how much domination North Summit will have this coming year. From what I hear they have nothing coming up. I would like to hear from a good source though how North Summit will be.

welcome to football then
curious? | 10:18 p.m. June 21, 2009
So who won the 4A vs 5A game? The tiny blurb made it sound like 5A did but I don't know. Does anyone know the score?
anon | 10:50 p.m. June 21, 2009
the new 2a teams will prove alot this coming year (Kanab, North Sevier, Parawon)
5A | 3:34 a.m. June 22, 2009
5A won the game, it was 7 to 3.. Did anyone hear how that Isi kid did? all i could say saturday night was "welcome to 5A"
Bravefan | 7:33 a.m. June 22, 2009
Why was NS's kicker not there sounds like he could of won the game again.
4A | 8:47 a.m. June 22, 2009
Really? Welcome to 5A? Only points that 5A could score was on a pick 6. Those were two evenly matched teams, that played sloppily. Either team could have won that game...

Get ready for South Sevier to adorn their trophy case with their first modern state championship trophy this year.
lol | 11:32 a.m. June 22, 2009
well folks looks like it's settled. 5A is better then 4A. I think the best part is that it was a hawk that scored for 5A, on defense what's more. Sorry TV and CW looks like you guys just don't cut it.
Saw the Game | 6:01 p.m. June 22, 2009
Article was right 4a/5a game a 'dud'. Although, I can't see how anyone can put any stock into these pickup games. No continuity. Limited to the schemes of the Coaches and their limited understanding of the abilities of each player. IMO there wasn't any team any better than the other they played. Congrats to those that braved the storms to play and watch. Congrats to the All-Stars.
5A beats 4A again | 11:47 a.m. June 23, 2009
....how shocking
4-A vs. 5-A: | 3:52 p.m. June 23, 2009
Shouldn't 5-A dominate the 4-A if they were all that better. Their schools are bigger and they have more of them. At least with the 1-A/2-A if you combined the number of schools and figured in the size difference for 3-A, the talent pool would be comparable. It seems to me that if the 5-A can't dominate 4-A they are underachieving a bit and 7-3 is hardly dominating...
5A v 4A | 4:54 p.m. June 23, 2009
RE:4-A vs. 5-A: | 3:52 p.m. June 23, 2009

There are actually more 4A schools than 5A. You may want to check your facts before ignorant posts.
SLC guy | 9:51 a.m. June 24, 2009
as far as ignorance goes....

5A
Region 1 = 8; R2 = 6; R3 = 6; R4 = 6

This makes 26 5A teams for the season of 2008 Football.

4A
Region 5 = 7; R6 = 8; R7 = 7; R9 = 3
This makes 25 4A teams

Add to that, 5A by definition has far more PLAYERS per school than 4A.

Now who's ignorant? Also FWIW the 2 best players in the state were both in California to start school. SuaFilo at UCLA and Martinez at USC. I think Sofele would have had a hole on every play if those 2 hogs had been playing in this game. What do you think?
By the way SLC guy | 10:18 a.m. June 24, 2009
5A does have more kids, but neither team had any of their D1 kids anyway. Props to 4A for keeping it close this year.

Sit back and watch Alta BLOW OUT Wimpview and watch Bingham put a major league beatdown on CW this year.

Last year, TV beat PG by 4 in a game that PG outplayed them. CW beat Layton (41-37 I think) and Layton's best player was out. Layton and PG did not even make it to the Semis in 5A. I watched the $A final and then the 5A final. Bingham and Alta were at a whole different level. I admit #60 for TV and Martinez were excellent. I hope they pan out in CA... I am guessing they will both do well. The best RB in the state last year was the Soph for Bingham.
4A v 5A enrollment | 11:32 a.m. June 24, 2009
5A schools average about 1,800 per school
4A schools average about 1,500 per school

*some outliers
Riverton and Alta have about 2,400
Snow Canyon and Dixie are around 1,100

throw those out and it is pretty close. Obviously 5A has more kids. Also note the 2 biggest recruiting schools in the state (from what I hear...LOL) are CW and TV. They are also the only 2 teams that could hang with the Top 5A teams. Take the Top 10 in the state objectively and it will be 8 5A and 2 4A almost every year.
Seriously... | 1:13 p.m. June 24, 2009
You guys need to either get jobs or spend more time working at your jobs. Worry about enrollment and things like that. Come on back, join society and become a productive human being. Alta wins because of Coach Hamilton and Bingham wins because of Coach Peck - Kenny that is, just ask him.
4-A vs. 5-A enrollment | 12:23 a.m. June 25, 2009
5-A also has more schools and 4-A so in the end run, 5-A has several thousand more students than 4-A to potentially recruit for an all-star game like this. They should win and probably by a larger margin. It didn't look like the 4-A got pushed around as the 5-A scored on an interception return for their only TD in a 7-3 game.

FYI--I do have a life, a wife and an interest in prep athletics (as a coach) and agree that Hamilton and Peck are great coaches as is Wong at Timpview.
No D-1 Playing? | 1:11 p.m. June 25, 2009
there were plenty of the states D-1 recruits playing...
Re: No D-1 playing? | 3:11 p.m. June 25, 2009
Name them and don't include walk ons. Only scholarship players. Where is the roster?
5A team | 4:50 p.m. June 26, 2009
I didn't see Tauauvea from Hunter, Peck, Filiaga from Bingham. Jones from Jordan, Washington from NR or several other 5A start I wanted to see.

4-A vs. 5-A enrollment | 12:23 a.m. June 25, 2009

45K students to find 25 players is such a HUGE advantage of only having 37K students to find 25 players.....PLEASE.
RE: 5A team | 11:55 a.m. June 29, 2009
The players you mentioned were all over-rated anyway, so the out-come wouldn't have been any different.
RE : No D-1 PLaying | 11:03 a.m. June 30, 2009
there were several kids playing that had d-1 scholarhips on 4a's team
D1 | 9:02 a.m. July 1, 2009
There are going to be several kids that go to a D1 school and NEVER see the field. Peck and Washington are a great example of these types of kids that were overhyped by their coaches and will be a waste of a scholarship. Back ups at best.
D1 | 1:23 p.m. July 1, 2009
RE: D1 | 9:02 a.m. July 1, 2009

Washington will be fine.... unless he has to tackle someone like Langi at Bingham.

Peck was tough last year, but not sure where they Y will use him. Is he going there as a DE or TE? Just wondering. He looked great in the 2 Alta games I watched last year.
this is going | 10:09 a.m. July 12, 2009
to be a hard season for that town down south with all the gravediggers...but it is 5a all the way..now make up some more excuses as that place down there has everyone on the book for what was took..good coaches read you like a book!
