Simple-minded 'Year One' painfully unfunny

The reason you go to films like this is because you like the humor of Jack Black and Michael Cera. Thats why people will probably love this movie and why if you like either of these two actors you would enjoy it as well. I have not seen it, but know I will enjoy it. I assume Jeff is not a fan of this comedy and therefor will always say it is unfunny.

a movie has to be pretty good these days for me to drop twenty bucks to see it. Since I am married, I have to multiply the price of admission by two and of course there is the gas to get there and perhaps a box of candy. So twenty bucks is what i consider the price to see a movie...this is clearly not worth twenty bucks.

I find Jack Black and Michael Cera both to be funny much of the time, and I found this film to be shockingly unfunny. One of the worst comedies of the decade. Kuzzick, I would bet money that you are hugely disappointed by this utter waste of film.

I found this movie to be HILARIOUS! At one point I was laughing so hard I couldn't breath. definitely worth the $20.

jack black and michael cera are funny. but when they dont have good material it doesnt really help their cause. too much potty humor.

I had to walk out of this piece of garbage.

Not only was there virtually no humorous moments, the movie was in utter bad taste.

I'm trying to imagine what kind of person would even enjoy this trash of a movie.

I had a feeling I was in for a bad movie when I got to the ticket counter and there was a note on the window that read - "Year One is a sexually explicit movie that degrades religion and women, there are no refunds for this movie"...

As a fan of Jack Black, I am incredibly disappointed in him for being involved with such a piece of garbage.

Save your time and money - do not see this movie

Yep, like the box office note says (I wish I had seen such a note at the theater I went to) this movie degrades religion and women. I guess if you don't hold either in high esteem you might not walk out, but at least thirty people left this movie, including myself. More could have left after I did. This is the worst Jack Black has been. Embarrassing.

Was this supposed to be a comedy? I am not sure how some of these movies get green-lighted. Worthless as entertainment. I would advise everyone to stay away from this one. Let it die a miserable death.

They are to make a living somehow right? Lol thanks for the heads up, lately comedies are getting worse by the minute, I was way exited to see hu yeah Thunder Tropic and it was such a dissapontment, wanting to throw up by the end of the movie

Jeff's review and some of the previous comments are sexist.

Jeff I find it very offensive and sexist every time you list at the bottom of your review that there is "violence against women". Why can't you just list that there is violence or if you have to be specific violence against human beings. Are we not equal? I can understand when you list "violence against children" because violence against children can be more offensive than violence against adults, but also the word "children" includes girls and boys.

And to the people that commented. Why is it when women participate in anything it is "Degrading"? Both men and women can do degrading things but only women are singled out by people like you.

20 bucks? Who pays 20 bucks for movies? Last I check it was about ten bucks.

And yes, violence against women is often meant to degrade them. I am glad Jeff lists it thusly and keep your sexist accusations a little toned down.

Women are convicted of rape almost as much as men. just for your information. at the utah state prison, there are almost as money female sex offenders as there are male. Educate yourself before you post. that being said I agree that sexist is a little dramatic and that violence against women should be listed.

So women can only be victims? why doesn't Jeff point out when there is violence against men because men CAN be raped and also CAN be victims of violence.

Its a freakin movie about cavemen!!!! Do you remember the cartoons that use to be out? In "jeffs" remarks, what would he say about the bug bunny and tweety show? Explosions, critters getting shot at, and ran over. This world is getting so soft. A lot of people dont have a sense of humor, and I feel so sorry for them. There lives must suck. I love to laugh, even when something is stupid, I laugh. People, get real, and get a sense of humor.

in our society because men do naturally have stronger upper bodies it is worse to hit a woman than it is to hit a man. btw jeff doesn't make up his own reasons for the rating he simply repeats what the rating system says.

But in lots of cases men can be smaller and weaker and women can be bigger and stronger

And there simply are not just as many female rapists as male rapists. That is just silly talk.

It is wrong to hurt either sex. But hitting a woman, in my book, is worse than hitting a man. Sorry.

Your book obviously doesn't include anything on equality between the sexes. Maybe to keep women from getting hit we should just lock them in all day and only let them out under the supervision/protection of a male family member... just like islamic fundamentalists.
