It will be funny when we are watching RSL play with Taylor Peay in the lineup... I know several players that made first team all-state. They are not fractionally as talented as Peay.

I was looking at the 3A All State teams and was wondering the love that the Des News has for Waterford. Waterford took 4th in their region. They were beaten soundly twice by Wasatch and yet there are four players from Waterford on the All-State list and one from Wasatch. Not that Waterford is a bad team, but how can they be soundly beaten by one team and yet have so many players in All-State. Must be the Salt Lake Connection.

All State selections are not always predicated upon the most talent (fastest, biggest, strongest or technical ability); sometimes the selection can be based upon how a player preformed within the system of the team, or a player's tactical abilities, or phychological contribution to a teams overall success. It still is a team sport, and the factors of consideration to the various ways a player can contribute to a team's success.

voting is done strictly by the coaches in each classification. Each coach nominates a few of their own players then votes on the rest. dnews doesnt pick anybody.
Re: | 10:47 a.m. June 2, 2009
The all state teams are chosen by the coaches. The coaches vote for the best players and the ones with the most votes are chosen for all staes. It has nothing to do with a Salt Lake connection
Not a single Provo Player | 12:19 p.m. June 2, 2009
made All-State, that is a crime. They finished at least second or third in their league which produced the eventual state champ Mountain View and made the quarterfinals and just missed the semi-finals losing to Mountain Crest in OT. To me they would have to have at least one all-state player on this squad if not several.
Re: not a single Provo player | 1:44 p.m. June 2, 2009
??Provo had a 1st team all-state player - Santiago and also a 2nd team all-state player. I agree with you that Provo has some very good players and they could play competitively with anyone in the state.

The Mountain View players on honorable mention probably should have all been second team at least. I watched the state final, and all 3 players on that list played outstanding. Congrats to everyone that made it.

Also Taylor Peay should have been first team. Very good player.

Along with the Grand Goalkeeper, Devin Smith from South Summit deserved to be at least on the Honorable Mention team. ICS and Westridge goalies don't play against the region offensive talent that South Summit faces against Rowland Hall, St. Joe, and Wasatch Academy. Kyle Farmer should have put the game away with an open shot against the Grand goalie in the first OT period but shot the ball just wide of the post.

I always love it how rural school always play the victim.

Desert Hills beats Cedar 3 games to 0 and total score 8 to 3.They beat Hurricane 3 games to 0 and total score 7 to 0 ,yet Hurricane and Cedar each get a forward on the team and DH none?...Honorable mention? ya right, not worth mentioning!
