I was once a loyal customer of Sam Wellers. Until I realized I was being cheated. If I couldnt find a book I would special order it from them or get put on the waiting list. A few years ago I ordered an out of print book titled the Holy Temple Revisited. When I went to pick up the book they told me it was $ 80.00, I paid it. Then I came home and looked it up and realized I could have bought the book for $20.00. I went to Tony Weller and asked him why the big difference? He just shrugged his shoulders and said words to the effect, thats the book businesses. Since that incident I never looked back I have since spent thousands of dollars at Benchmark Books where I buy used LDS books. I suspect that is another reason he is going out business; mistreating loyal customers.

I have a masters degree in library science. Thus, I think I have a good feel for what is happening in the world of books.

I talked to Tony Weller about 15 years ago about what I perceived as a shift in the book-selling paradigm. He refused to see it. Evidently, now he does see it, but I suspect it is too late. The world has moved on without him. Books are now a commodity. These days, what people want is the information that is contained in the book -- usually not the book itself.

I used to buy a lot of books at Wellers' and the other SL used book stores. Now I buy none. I still love to browse there, but I buy from Internet vendors. Or just read it at Google Books, if the work has been scanned and is in the public domain.

Zadruga Guy and Formal Loyal Customer... you both have too much time on your hands... the book business is like the antique business... prices vary... and both have a right to "deal" and make a living... grow up!

IT's the weller book business that is suffering,

NOT the former customer or zadruga guy.

Boy some people can not take constructive criticism.
