"Most of us would prefer Rush and Sean in office"
Oh yeah. Rush Limbaugh.
He's the guy who today said "Who needs the hispanic vote."
Nothing like cutting the GOP's throat.
What a bunch of racist losers!
re: Conservative 12:58 | 1:46 p.m. May 29, 2009
I noticed this guy mentions "true conservative."
Is this the same as "true church", "true American" ... you get my drift.
Just what the [bleep] is a "true conservative" anyway?

LOL!

re: Conservative 12:58 | 1:46 p.m

A "true conservative" is someone who doesn't just say they are "conservative" to get elected and then act completely contrary to conservative values (like George Bush).

It has nothing to do with the "true church" line you seem to be so obsessed with.

More conservative than who?
Genghis Khan?
Dannon | 2:20 p.m. May 29, 2009
The word "conservative" is different to many people. While we have not had a Reagan conservative in a long time, I beleive that Hatch and Bennett are conservative, but their chance to change anything is gone. They have become complacient in the fact that Utah always vote for an incumbent. I say vote Mark Shurtleff who I beleive is a true Fiscal Conservative, which is what we need in America right now.
Reason | 2:30 p.m. May 29, 2009
When Mitt Romney endorses Senator Bennett, and reminds us multiple times that Bennett is conservative, it only serves to remind me once again that Bennett is NOT conservative (except temporarily, when election time rolls around). Romney himself tried to appear the conservative candidate last fall, but this endorsement is another indication that he really isnt. The endorsement will likely hurt them both.

Also, this column and its title mention the concern that Republicans might become even more conservative. But this is not the problem the problem is that in recent years many Republican politicians have STRAYED from conservatism. This is what has disenchanted many in their base, and has caused Republicans to lose elections and end up as the minority party. (But, sadly, this is the very approach that Huntsman and others are promoting.)
Progressive | 2:32 p.m. May 29, 2009
Wow! This is fun to watch, the conservatives eating themselves alive. The Regan coalition has been smashed to pieces and good riddins. You clowns have ruined America and the World for the past 30 years. I realize the progressive coalition is tenuous but hopefully it holds together long enough to put the country back together. The Founding Fathers started us on a course of progress that albeit was rocky continued until 1981 when Mr. Regan and his ilk put us on a course that has led us to economic disater, attacks on our own soil, an illegal war against a third world country that we still can't resolve, third world health statistics, declining educational levels, declining personal incomes etc. etc. etc.

To Conservative please build a wall around Utah and Texas and put a dome on it too so the rest of don't have to listen to your nonsense.

The author of this original post was complaining about Anonymous making posts on KSL.com

He was sure that Anonymous was a liberal from California.

I find this very funny and I hate to be the one who breaks the news to this conservative but when you fail to put a name or subject line in your post it automatically comes up Anonymous.

So rather than one sinister liberal from California it is a variety of people who either forget or purposefully fail to put a name or subject line in their post.

Yea Yea I know the terrorists and liberals are taking over the country and I am very afraid.

Happy?

It doesn't matter what conservatives say or do -
The outcome will be the same.
The far-right Limbaughites are single-handedly making the GOP implode before their own eyes and may not ever recover from the damage.

I know how the name box works. There are OTHER ways to know WHO the poster is.

I don't assume ALL "Anonymouses" are THIS Anonymous. I read his comments here EVERY DAY (you can tell when it's him from his manerisms). I know who he is from his style and his tone. Trust me... you can tell THIS Anonymouse from the rest of them.

THIS Anonymouse has identified himself as living in California. So what's wrong with asking him why he's so obsessed with Utah politics when his home California politics are falling apart and they are looking to Utah tax payers (and other better managed states) to pay the debts their politicians piled upon them?

If I got the wrong Anonymous I would appologize, but I didn't. He knows who he is and he's proud of it.

Note: I never said he is a "liberal". Using that word just drives THIS Anonymous crazy and gets him off on the Limbaugh tangent that never ends.

LOL!
Why the GOP is history | 4:38 p.m. May 29, 2009

"The Republican Party is in deep trouble" adding "I think what Rush [Limbaugh] does as an entertainer diminishes the party and intrudes or inserts into our public life a kind of nastiness that we would be better to do without."
- Colin Powell

Anonymous | 4:45 p.m. May 29, 2009
Rush Limbaugh is the leader of the GOP.
And that is the primary reason the GOP is divided and falling.

Re:"Ask your self why?" 2:33 p.m.: Its generally easy to recognize this particular Anonymous. He (she?) posts frequently, but contributes nothing to the discussion, and offers only taunts and insults. He only makes himself look petty and foolish. His patterns are easy to recognize, even when he posts under different names. He reminds me of a little dog who yaps constantly and nips at the heels of adults who are attempting to engage in an intelligent debate.

Im conservative in my principles, but I dont mind engaging in a lively, respectful on-line debate with people who disagree, and I often learn something in the process. Anonymous is certainly free to have his say, but he offers nothing constructive or of substance, so I just roll my eyes and ignore the yapping.
Cell meetings | 5:15 p.m. May 29, 2009
I am sure that Mr Anon gets his instructions at his local cell meeting of the CPUSA, otherwise how is he so predictable?

"OK comrades, we have to keep hammering Limbaugh. He has the most popular radio talk show in the country, and he is uniting the conservatives to take over the Republican Party. This we cannot allow."
Fear of conservatism? | 5:27 p.m. May 29, 2009
I think that this article shows panic that Utah will finally through out its liberal senators. I mean Bennett and Hatch. It represents a realistic fear that real conservatives no longer will be fooled by the ill-fitting disguises donned by the two long-standing RINO's.

Wow! We finally got a conservative Republican in Chaffetz. What next? We will have real conservatives in the Senate!?

This low level of sophistication, that slyly suggests that our Utah Republican Party already represents conservatives, will not wash. If we get a real Republican we will vote for him, and RINO and liberal chicanery will inevitably fall into well-deserved disrepute.
Anonymous | 6:00 p.m. May 29, 2009
The more conservatives shoot their mouths off with their nasty style of communication, the easier it is for liberals to win elections.
And the funniest thing is that the more conservatives try to demonize the word liberal, the more the liberals rally together to make things happen. This explains what happened in '06 and again in '08.
Keep up the good work Neocons. LOL!

As a liberal I don't feel compelled to have my ears glued to some bloated drug-addicted bigot 3 hrs a day 5 day a week telling me who I should hate today.
I have much more productive things to do with my time.
I leave that to the sad conservatives who are single-handedly bringing their party to ruin.
bye-bye GOP | 6:15 p.m. May 29, 2009
The ignorant conservatives are so busy driving wedges between people with their crosses and their flags, they haven't noticed how they have divided their own political party.

The only thing conservatives will conserve (it certainly isn't the environment) is a losing track record at the polls.
America is sick of their nastiness.
Liberals are Nazis? | 12:11 a.m. May 30, 2009
Can I even say that? The Nazis were "National Socialists".

The liberals support all the old socialist dogma so that would make them socialist in all but appellation.

I suppose they are actually INTERnational socialists, though, since they want us to surrender our national sovereignty by absorbing it in international organisations, NAFTA, the UN, where we can be controlled by unelected left-wingers, but that would be like calling them Commies and we aren't supposed to do that.

Nevertheles that is what it seems to be. Just as some politicians, claiming to be ultra patriotic and conservative, are actually National socialists, others claiming to be "progressive" liberals are actually international socialists.

Where are the real old liberals and conservatives? Ah, where indeed!
Old Joe | 2:31 a.m. May 30, 2009

How could these two be more of anything, they are so much of nothing. The only ones who benefit from their office are themselves.
@Anonymous | 10:07 a.m. May 30, 2009
Nastiness? Like killing the innocent unborn? Like robbing every American of at least 50% of the fruits of their labor? Like trying to control freedom of speech? Like banning any mention of Christmas (such Grinches!)? Like banning any mention God from all public schools? Like depriving honest citizens from protecting themselves from murderers and thieves? Like sexism and racism in the employment laws (affirmative action they call it)? Like snatching children from their homes on the basis of an anonymous accusation?

Oh no, that would be your timid liberal heroes.

Stewart | 12:21 p.m. May 30, 2009
One of the reasons the GOP is losing ground, in addition to the media's constant drumbeat of this propaganda, is that the Republicans continue to offer RINO candidates such as Sen. Bennett. Those disaffected Republicans don't become Democrats, they become independents. Many Democrats are doing the same.

The reason for this is because voters when they go to the polls are getting tired of voting for the "lessor of two evils." In the case of the republicans it is because of the likes of Sen. Bennett and others willing to give up their principles, and become part of the D.C. political crowd.

The Utah 3rd Congressional District learned how in 2008, to deal with this problem. They got rid of RINO Representative Chris Cannon. If a good candidate is found that same thing could affect the entire state, and remove RINO Senator Bennett.

If Republicans again choose Bennett, the Democrats could come up with a good candidate (which isn't likely) and take this senate seat. The best that Bennett could do is withdraw for the sake of the party. The only problem here is Mark Shurtluff wouldn't be much better.
Christian Prophet | 12:53 p.m. May 30, 2009
The Republican Party cannot regain the respect of voters by broadening (read "selling out") into a "me too" party. They must define themselves as a clear and obvious alternative to the fascist Democrats and stick to the message of freedom. In other words, becoming more libertarian will bring in disenfranchised voters and REALLY broaden the party.
John | 1:05 p.m. May 30, 2009
An ad by Huntsman saying that Bennett is conservative is hardly meaningful. I hope Bennett loses to a true conservative.

Is Bill Dew thinking about running against this guy?
Just an observation | 10:41 p.m. May 30, 2009
Senator Hatch needs to cut down on the makeup for foto shots.

Yes many politicians especially elderly ones use make up for TV and campaign pictures.

I am sorry to burst your bubble.

consistant.. | 12:18 a.m. June 1, 2009
Hatch has been consistent in his voting record and who he is. Voters have been getting who they voted for.

Bennett on the other hand seems to be willing to change his stripes, something Huntsman just did, ticking of the utah gop.

If they were running against each other, I would vote Hatch over Bennett. Hatch has been more willing to listen to Utah.

I think Cherilyn Eagar is going to take out Bob Bennett and then Sam G. and be the 2010 US Senator. I don't think Utah has had a female US Senator before.

Tim Bridgewater will stay out of this 2010 race.

Mark Shurtleff will fall on his own sword and loose the 2010 and the 2012 races.

Mike Lee will be AG in 2012 and Gary Herbert will win in 2010 and 2012 for Gov.
