re: BYU | 11:12 a.m. May 13, 2009
No, the reason everyone is always talking about BYU football is because BYU loves to hype themselves, with some assistance by the DNews.

BYU has to tell everyone what is going on with each spring practice, because they love to hear themselves talk.

And all they have is talk. Ute fans are not worried about the football team. They are able to accomplish their goals, unlike the TDS. Kyle will have the team ready to go. And he doesn't need to print T-Shirts to get the media to buy into the program. He just shuts his mouth, and wins games. Bottom line.

Plus Utah isn't the program staring at a humiliation come September, BYU is.
Re: 11:12 a.m. | 12:39 p.m. May 13, 2009
The Utah team last year was the best team Utah's ever had. The past few BYU teams have been good, but not the program's best. Things are looking UP for BYU from here. You honestly think that because of one "bad" 10-3 year that it's all downhill for BYU from here. Boise St. had a "bad" 10-3 season in '07 before doing what it did this year. What about the TERRIBLE '05 '06 and '07 years for Utah after Meyer left?

Utah has had TWO great TEAMS, period. The PROGRAMS do not even compare. Utah has about a decade ahead of repeating what it has done recently to be nationally recognized the way BYU is. Utah hasn't stood the test of time.
BYU Nationally Recognized as.... | 1:37 p.m. May 13, 2009
A team who was very good long ago. Dominated a league that had little football prowess. And is now unable to compete talent wise with even the top two teams in its own conference.

Sorry, but losing the Vegas Bowl to an average Pac-10 team is not what a "nationally recognized" program does.

Going to 2 BCS games in 4 years, and winning both, one against the team ranked #1 for much of the season, is what a "nationally recognized" program does.

Printing T-Shirts about being "perfect," only to fall flat on their faces, is not what a team who is "nationally recognized" does.

Being undefeated, while beating 4 ranked opponents, is what a "nationally recognized" program does.

The 80's are over. BYU is only recognized nationally by patrons in LDS wardhouses, not by media or fans who pay attention today. They are a name, for people 30 and over, nothing more.

For a team | 2:42 p.m. May 13, 2009
. . .who's not nationally recognized it sure seems like the Utes care a lot more about us than they do about their own fetching team!

Honestly if BYU is a nobody team why do you persist so much on commenting on our articles?

Let's get the record straight in saying that BYU won in the MWC title in 2006 and 2007. In 2008 they went 10-3. BYU is not a team that was good a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. BYU is still a good team. Utah is a good team. Last year Utah had a great season.
I understand Utah fans missing the spotlight from last season, but the reality is that BYU is a good team that has good antional recognition.
I really feel sorry for Ute fans who still cannot contemplate the difference between a perfect football season and what Bronco has said many times was the intention and purpose. Although, I did have to attend the Utah commencement recently and I can understand where the inability comes from.
BYU has a chance to beat a great team at a great venue. Be happy for them and look forward to the rivalry game. Just be glad that you will be playing Utah St. on a Thurs. that week and then the next week San Jose St. You should start out 2-0.

Please Cougar fans, stop trying to make excuses for the "Quest" and leave that job to Donko.

The "Quest" was about going undefeated and getting into the BCS.

It only turned into a non-football "Quest" after TCU kicked the Cougars heads in.

When your team breaks their huddle in fall practice by saying "BCS," the goal in your mind is BCS. Not living a life spiritually of perfection, as Donko wants you to believe.

Cougar fans are so blind they will believe anything that comes out of Donko's mouth.

Don't the Cougars play Utah State this year as well? And a Tulane team that won 2 games last year? Just because you're taking $3 million to get whipped by Oklahoma don't assume you're schedule is a good one. Now if you had a shot at beating a ranked team like Oklahoma, 1-23 or some awful record, your schedule could help you accomplish what Utah already has. But you've shown your inability to beat good teams enough that nobody expects that.
Confused | 4:24 p.m. May 13, 2009
I thought this was an article about the Dallas football stadium and the future game between BYU and Oklahoma. What does that have to do with BYU/Utah rivalry? Both sides take your smack elsewhere and talk about the article.
Re: confused | 6:57 p.m. May 13, 2009
AMEN! Thank you for noticing.

Utah fans, leave. No likes you or cares about you or wants to hear about what you have to say, so BEAT IT. This is about BYU and Oklahoma, not you. You had your one little season in the spotlight, so you have that to relish over. Your time would be better spent watching Sugar Bowl reruns than here.
Go Utes!!! | 7:49 p.m. May 13, 2009
Sugar highlights are great but I am bored so rather pick on old and slow big brother that even he can remember the last time he beat a good team. Yet still claims to be national powerhouse. FYI BYU football is as relavant as VHS.
Re: Zoob Nation | 8:25 a.m. | 11:35 p.m. May 13, 2009
far better? then put the people in your stands, oh that right, I-15 is deadlocked when the cougars are playing at home. Come up with something better, the utes and fans will be back to earth really soon.
Face the facts | 11:43 p.m. May 13, 2009
Utah NEVER would have gotten a sniff to the BCS if the rest of the "traditional" dominate teams, had played up to their potential. Utah happen to luck out while the nation had a down year in college football. Any ordinary year utah would have been in the "vegas bowl" but then again probably not, because BYU has a better draw when it comes their fan base.

Face the cold hard fact.

Face the facts | 11:43 p.m. May 13, 2009
"Utah NEVER would have gotten a sniff to the BCS if..."

Only in Zoob Nation do facts begin with a IF!

If U had gone 13-0 U would have had a Quest for Perfection season.

Re: Go Zoobs!! | 11:53 p.m. | 12:03 a.m. May 14, 2009
Oh the truth hurts, doesn't it! Hard to face that fact!

Come with something better? You mean besides facts about wins/loses, head-to-head records, record against ranked teams, BCS wins... oh wait not those stats but fan traffic on I-15 on game day?!?

Let me check on ESPN...

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You are the 2008 National Fan-champions... hey now you have something to show to your recruits.

Hands down BYU was the best program in the 80s... I know I lived through the beatings year in year out. BUT Utah is the team now!! In the last 10 years the best non-BCS team.

RE: 12:15 a.m. poster

So you're saying games at BYU are not well attended? I'm guessing you've never been to a
BYU home game. The stadium consistently gets 63-65 thousand people. Attendance trailed during the Crowton years, but has been great with Mendenhall. Ute attendance has been very good, filling your 45,000 seat stadium for big games. Cougar attendance is just fine thanks, so check your "facts".
Re: 12:16 a.m. | 11:50 a.m. May 14, 2009
Utah isn't the team now BECAUSE IT'S THE OFF SEASON. Utah might have been the team LAST year, but you're not a consistent program and you haven't shown that AT ALL yet. Your program is about as good as North Carolina's. One momentary flash of brilliance. Keep watching your bowl reruns because maybe you'll keep winning bowls, but they will be Humanitarian Bowl wins from now on.
YAWN | 4:03 p.m. May 15, 2009
Can you say BLOWOUT!!
OU rolls and has the 3rd stringers driving down the field.
Re: Hard Facts | 11:37 a.m. May 16, 2009
Hard fax this
Utah can't lose a bowl game and BYU can't win with consistency in bowl games. Utah ?
8 in a row THE NATIONS LONGEST.
Utah gave 1.5 million dollars to BYU and not one Blue Bloods said thank you for the BCS Bowl WIN$
More cat scat ?
Oh yeah we'll blame it on the nation having a down year in college football.
What's with that excuse ?
College Football had a down year ?
Just because you embarrassed the MWC with a unforgivable loss does not mean college football had a down year.
Every year in college football the teams rebuild.
That statement alone is reaching the bottom of the barrel, even for a YBU supporter.
Maybe that snotty Hard Facts guy can tell me why Bronco only took 6 practices out of the scheduled 16 for the Vegas bowl and then the rise and shouters saw their team Lose 21-31 against the fifth place Pac-10 team
Hard Facts ??
How many BYU fans in the stands were over 12 ?
How many over 16 ?
With almost half the students UTAH sold out each game and had standing room only.
Just $ay Thank$
Re: 11:37 a.m. | 12:31 p.m. May 16, 2009
Thanks for the cash, I appreciate it.

Too bad Utah fans don't have the grace to back it up with, I'd almost prefer that over the money.
Anonymous | 7:46 p.m. May 19, 2009
All you u-tah fans are just jeolous because it is'nt you thats playing in it. Oklahoma would blow you away too! You played a disinterested Alabama team that was missing 2 starting offensive lineman. They would beat you 9 out 0f 10 times if played. OU has a completely different offensive line this year. It will be closer than you think. We have all our tough games at home this year as you did last year. The difference is you didnt play anybody. Our schdule is much tougher than yours was last year. OUCH!!

"I'm a BYU fan but I can admit that Utah is GREAT and BYU is not."

haha...

I don't wanna accuse you of not being a byu fan. I don't like inuendos...but let me say this...

I'm a UTAH fan, but I can admit that BYU is great and UTAH is not.
