Time for some lame Ute fans to start making snide remarks. In '08 it was "But the Y didn't play anyone tough, waaaaahhhhhhhhh." In '09 it's going to be, "But the Y got slaughtered by OU." Meanwhile, BYU will march to another 11-2 or 10-3 season as the Utes still bask in their '08 glory and stumble to an 8-5 season, talk about how great they are for beating a "tough" San Jose St. team, and how the Poinsetta Bowl beats the Las Vegas Bowl any day.

I'm still waiting for all those Ute fans. I guess they aren't nearly as "lame" as cougar fans.

The Sooners are going to ruin BYU's "perfect" season and their unbeaten 0-0 record that they had to start the season. Oh well, the cougs are resilient and will probably get into a bowl game just to lose and ruin the MWC's reputation as being a giant killer.

I'm almost tempted to go just to see this Taj Mahal of sports. I'm staying away, however, because I'd like to see the Cougars do a repeat of Miami w/Ty. But, the last three away games I've attended were not pretty -- TCU, UCLA, Arizona. I'd seen several games at Rice-Edwards north (the boink, the Sark, the Doman, the Harline) and figured I'd excised the curse, but... love the Cougs too much to jinx them. Still, Dick, you make a compelling case to go.

No one is giving BYU a chance at this game the same way no one gave Utah a chance vs Bama. Anyone in the MWC not pulling for BYU vs OU is stupid. This could really be the Y's chance to represent. It seems impossible for BYU to win if you don't visualize how it could be possible.

OU's offense is potent with Sam Bradford, no question. But the O-line is new, just like the Y's, and the main receivers are gone, with new Juco guys coming in. BYU's receivers have more D-1 experience up to this point than OU's do. If BYU get's a good pass rush going and create pressure, which will be tough with a good QB like Bradford, BYU can LIMIT, not slow down, but LIMIT OU's points. On offense BYU will be able to move the ball and score. Oklahoma defends the run fairly well, but they will have a task on their hands defending Unga. That will open up the passing game and OU's pass defense has shown holes against the pass.

I'm calling the final score OU 35, BYU 28.

It likely won't be by a large margin. Chances are we will have to kick a field goal to beat them. Not a scenario I am comfortable with but just think if we pulled it off! Mitch Payne kicking a field goal to beat Oklahoma! Wow, that's almost funny. It could happen. Obviously the odds are against us but stranger things have happened in football. I can't wait!

BYU has a chance...new juco wr's? OU got one juco commit, the rest have been in the system, OU is reloading. Isn't BYU breaking in a new offensive line? That will be fun breaking them in against questionably the toughest front seven in the nation. The only new d-backs will be the safeties, and one got quite a bit of playing time, Quentin Carter, and he likes to knock people's heads off.

As far as the o-line, they will be more athletic than last year's line, and they just need time to gel. How good is your d-line? Is it better than the one that OU's line will face every day in practice? I don't think it will be close but I could be wrong, I have been before and will be again, but I hope they both play hard and good luck to BYU.

I think and rational person knows that BYU will have its hands full in this game. I will watch because I enjoy watching football but I won't slit my wrists if the Cougars lose. On the other hand, I will make no predictions, either (the best way to make a fool of oneself); after all, it hasn't been so long since I and my buddy took our seats at Cougar Stadium just prior to kickoff against #1 ranked Miami, I remarked that the weather was perfect, and even though we didn't stand a snow-ball's chance in hell of winning, it was good to be there.

Reasons that the BCS got on the phone and set this game up immediately after UTAH put a hurt on Alabama.

1.BYU has a long history of choking in any big games. Think Detmer and any team from the 90s on

2.Oklahoma got hook and laddered by Boise and are looking for a little payback I bet they will not overlook this one.

3. First game of the season and a national audience to bring down any Mid-Major after this loss. This loss will be posted as the final reason why the MWC should be where it is

Good comments on here. Thank you to the other BYU fan who is honest enough to admit that Utah is great and BYU is only good. You have to be man enough to admit the obvious, otherwise it means nothing when we truly are great. Also, it's nice to see some fellow Cougs on here that actually believe we can win this thing. Of course we have a chance. Bronco has been making excuses about losing out of conference for so long some fans have forgotten that we used to win these games on a regualar basis. I was in Giant's Stadium in 1985 when we beat Boston College to kick off the season. Plently of other examples of BYU winning big out of conference games, Texas (twice), Pitt, Texas A&M, Penn State, etc. It's time for Bronco to focus on winning some out of conference games and putting us on the map nationally. Winning in conference is nice, but beating the big boys out of conference is what people remember. Just look at the Utes if you need any proof. Bronco needs to do something big this year or go, a la Rocky Long.

A few years ago, an Air Force coach stated the best way to beat BYU is to play them the first game of the year. More time to prepare. The best chance for BYU is to play Oklahoma the first game. They have a good record doing this. They beat Miami, Pittsburg, Texas A & M,and I think Texas. Hopefully, Oklahoma will not be at midseason form.

I am a BYU fan but the glory days are fadeing fast with Utah getting it as far as recruiting. Utah was urbanized in 05 and have'nt looked backed since. BYU has the honor code and restrictions that hamper the truely great athletes that BYU needs but can't get. Speed kills and BYU has a truely lack of it. Utah gets it we don't or can't obtain it. Utah will challenge again for the championship and we will be 2nd or 3rd again. We simply don't have the speed. Oklahoma will destroy us. That will truely be ugly. I am not going to even bother to watch. Every great team has speed. The BCS Champ is full of athletes with speed. Utah will content or win the Mtn. West because Whittingham learned a valuable lesson from Urban Meyer speed kills. Florida has Two National Championships in the last 3 years, and Utah well has 2 BCS wins. End of story the tide has changed, and the sad thing about it is BYU just does'nt get the athletes they need to be BCS worthy at years end. Yes speed kills.

I'm sick of seeing the honor code used as an excuse for why BYU can't seem to land any so called "blue chip" athletes with speed. It's as if you people who do this are suggesting or stating that all fast athletes looking for a college are wanting a place where they can be free to sleep around, go clubbing and get drunk after games, and/or shoot themselves up every now and then without or whatever else without the consequences they'd have at BYU. I'm sure there are some high caliber athletes out there that wouldn't have a problem with the honor code. If BYU could get backs like Omarr Morgan and Tim McTyer of the '96 team, they'd be in great shape there. On offense, they will have O'neil Chambers, who had a much better spring this year, and McKay Jacobsen who is reported to be in much better post mission shape than Collie ever was his first year back, so I expect some great speed out of those two this year. I hope Chambers can break out and show the talent and speed for which he was recruited.

Anonymous, you are lame. Utah and BYU have basically split their wins in the past 8 years. I don't see the Utes being any better than the cougs. Obviously, they had a good year in 2008,but I don't see them beating the cougars this year. They are the same losers that have never beat the Broncos.

The Y has absoulutely no chance to win this game. This game is going to be an embarassment to the MWC. The Y will lose by at least thirty points. I hate to admit this....but I would like to see the Y compete with OU. The MWC needs to show the world that they can compete with the BCS conferences....Unfortunately...the Y has not been able to have a good showing against average BCS teams...what is going to happen to the Y agains a top 3 team??? they will get slaughtered. BYU has a real shot of a 5 game losing streak before playing Utah State. If they lose to USU, we will know then we have reached the bottom.

Until then, BYU fans ought to brace ourselves because the nightmare from last season is going to continue throughout the beginning of this season.

First off "Brace Yourselves BYU Fans" BYU only plays 4 games going into USU. 2nd off, Tulane was 2-10 in a horrid C-USA. And there's no way in the world BYU loses to CSU in Provo. CSU has only beat byu once in provo since the mid 80s. And I wont even go into saying how ridiculous it sounds to hear an Aggie talk about beating BYU in Provo, which hasn't happened since the 70s.

it is lame that every BYU article turns into a BYU-Utah thing. I'm a die hard byu fan, and I have NO CLUE, and couldn't care less what is going on with Utah articles.

This is a huge game. BYU can schedule big time games. Now its time for them to step up and play like they want to belong with the big time programs. It will be a good game. Closer than alot of you think.

Utah was great in 08, but this is a new year, the year Utes play TCU, BYU and Oregon State on the road. It is an honor to play in Arlington, it will be fun no matter what. I wish we had Collie, but I hear Monase Tonga is back. I am a Cougar fan who also likes OU's coach and think OU is a classy bunch of fans and people.

I'm beginning to think that this game will be a big plus for the BYU program. It will bring prestige, recruiting and and an excitement boost to the program. Even if the Cougs get waxed this game will be a bonus for the program. RE: beware! Eat your heart out. Maybe the Utes can get a big game with Weber State again.

Yes, Oklahoma has had difficulties playing in BCS games in the past. And BYU has trouble beating mediocre Pac-10 teams in the Vegas Bowl.

Kind of a big difference there isn't it. Even a blue-blooded Cougar fan should have realized that before spouting off. You print shirts about the BCS, while Oklahoma has played in as many BCS games as anyone in the country. Not even in their league Cougars.

And as for the BYU fans comparing this game to the Sugar Bowl last year, lets just get that out of your minds right now. Utah was undefeated last year, and had the team speed to at least hang with Alabama right up front. Oklahoma is better than Alabama was, and BYU is much worse than Utah was, by about 24 points (48-24). BYU does not have the speed to even hang with a team like Alabama or Oklahoma for a quarter, let alone a game.

Utah came in with a real chance to win the Sugar Bowl, BYU has a real chance to get paid $3 million to let Oklahoma beat on them for 3 hours. Nice pay day, predictable outcome.

Why would the Utes be jealous of BYU getting destroyed by Oklahoma? You forget that Utah actually wins games against BCS caliber teams, while the Cougars struggle to win in the Vegas Bowl against mediocre Pac-10 teams.

When your Cougars win a big game, come back and we can discuss your commments. Until then you are just trying to follow in the Utes footsteps.

Yes, it may have 14 intrances to the stadium from the interstate system, but unless the Tx Dept of Transp does one heck of a job this summer, there won't be any off-ramps within 5 miles of the stadium. Major construction along I-30 has everything East bound blocked for two miles before and 3 miles after the new Cowboys stadium, Six Flags, and the Arlington Ball Park as well. BTW, West bound I-35 isn't much better.
