Real Salt Lake can't overcome another slow start

Everyone on the pitch played just horribly. For my part, I don't know how NYRB get 8,000 people to the stadium because I wouldn't pay game in and game out to watch that ugly style. But if the linesman is doing his job in the 50th minute, maybe it's a different game.

A former New Yorker... | 9:29 a.m. April 19, 2009
Come on, they are the only team that RSL is yet to beat, and I can't for the life of me figure out why they have us pegged. I hope to see Real beat the Red Bulls some day...

It was... | 10:33 a.m. April 19, 2009
a very poor game by RSL. But, it's early on in the season and it's nothing to get to excited about.

Win | 11:03 a.m. April 19, 2009
As a fan RSL cannot drag me in the ditch for another season. Get it together or I give up. As fans we have supported a lot. It is time we get rewarded with a solid performing tream. Losing every week on the road and having a .500 season last year is nothing to brag about.

i think there's something in the water in salt lake. it seems that neither of our major pro sports teams understand that the first half is just as important as the second.

Yura Out!! | 2:19 p.m. April 19, 2009
I sincerely hope that the addition of Espindola means that Yura will soon be on the bench. I am tired of hearing about his potential when week in and week out all he does it shoot right at the goalie. Does he have pace? Yes. Can he finish? NO!

There come's a point when he needs to put the ball in the net. If you look at his goals from last year, besides the cheeky back flick against Chivas, his goals came when the defense and goalie had bad positioning and all he had to do was basically tap it in. He is always looking to do the spectacular instead of the simple thing.

I would like Coach Kreis to explain what he sees in practice that Yura does. Give Escalada a chance to see what he can do. Someone. Anyone but Yura, he has shown he cannot consistently finish. The shot last night by the way that was cleared probably would have been an own goal, or a lucky bounce. Yura Out!!!

Own Goal | 6:11 p.m. April 19, 2009
How was that not an own goal? I watched the replay over and over and the moment Goldthwaite hit the ball with his left foot, his right foot was on the line. His left foot was clearly ahead of his right foot meaning the ball had crossed the line when he made contact. Too bad the ref was out of position. I wonder if the red card was a make up call, probably should have only been a yellow card.

I was wondering who we would release or place on loan to make room for Kyle Davies. David Horst was the first name that came to my mind. The first goal was on him, and I think Olave saves the second goal as well. Of course, can't place the blame all on Horst, our offense looked disorganized.

Both road games have been on turf, you'd think RSL would know how to play on turf, but maybe they don't. Good thing we only have one regular season game left on turf (Toronto).

I didn't catch why Olave wasn't playing. I hope he is not hurt.

Was I the only one who wondered how Kanji didn't get booked at the end of the game? And why we didn't get an extra minute for his time wasting? I guess it's good the RSL players have more self control than I do. If I was on the pitch I would have gone over and had some choice words with him, then either spit on him or given him a boot. Is anyone less classy than Kanji? I don't think so.
Are there any doubts about how important Olave is now?

Real Issue | 12:56 p.m. April 20, 2009
The real problem in this game was the decision to play Horst and to then keep him in after half time. Jason should have changed things up and brought Andy in alot sooner than he did and go with that 3-5-2 the entire second half. Horst as a center back is disaster. It is early dont panic we are a good team and this year and everything will be ok. Just keep Horst out of the line up!!! I would have rather seen Russell and Borchers in the middle with Wingert and Beltran outside. Just not Horst.

Olave isnt seriously hurt, they are just trying to keep him off of field turf as much as possible because of his knees.

The slide continues | 6:16 p.m. April 20, 2009
Anyone see attendance for this game? 8,508- down from 11,703 at the last one. At this rate they'll be counting birds in the stadium at the end of the season. Way to go Governor Huntsman! Soccer is turning out to be such a grand investment of taxpayer dollars.

Kreis loves Horst | 9:49 p.m. April 20, 2009
I don't think we'll be seeing him sent packing. Kreis was happy about the way Horst played after the goal. Hmm, Jason.....

It doesn't matter where it was. The point is, soccer is failing fast in the U.S. The fact that it was in New York is even more pathetic.

No Olave | 8:23 a.m. April 21, 2009
No Olave + road game = loss
.
Horst is no Olave. Maybe at home we could win without Olave, but on the road much tougher. Hopefully RSL can turn the road thing around this season. I think a good road result would be at least 6 wins this year. That would easily put us into the playoffs

Only a fool would think that REALame Salt Lake was gaining in popularity. By the way... I heard the games are now on channel 2.3 or 3.14 or something like that. LOL. Yep... growing in popularity!

Fan attendance is less than a Region 1 HS football game and it is unwatchable on TV.
