>>Those who are critical of Max Hall have obviously never played and know nothing about football and especially quarterbacking.

Hall was and will continue to be one of the top qps in the country.<<

Yes. Because BYU's sports info dept (Des News included) continue to treat EVERY BYU QB (even Bob Jensen & Sean Covey) as the greatest thing since sliced bread. Truthfully, I heard Tim Tebow is all that. Rumor is; Timmy came out of the sky and changed water to Gatorade.

So is Sean Smith.

Huh huh, no they're not, they're in the NFL!

Max Hall will | 3:26 p.m. March 25, 2009
at least have as good a career in the NFL as Alex (the biggest #1 NFL draftee in history) Smith had. I'll go so far as to say his numbers will easily surpass gaudy numbers that Alex put up. LOL
re: Max Hall will | 5:03 p.m. March 25, 2009
Seriously? Max Hall, who looks completely befuddled everytime he plays against any team with speed at all? You know what the NFL is don't you? It's the quickest guys from each college team, put together on the same field.

Smith has been a huge disappointment in the NFL, but not surprising considering his college offense, and the team around him in SF. But Smith took apart teams in college that had some speed. Granted, the Utes didn't get to play anybody as good as the 08 Utes or TCU teams that destroyed BYU, but they did play A&M, Pitt, Oregon and Cal during Alex's time here. Those teams easily have as much speed as someone like mighty Arizona in the Vegas Bowl, who flustered Hall into turnovers.

Hall is a system QB in college, much like the Texas Tech QB's have been for years, with no chance at an NFL career. Smith was made better by the system at Utah, but has the tools to play in the NFL. Might even just be a backup his whole career, like Mr. Heisman Ty Detmer! Wouldn't be so bad right?
"Smith has been a huge | 8:37 a.m. March 26, 2009
disappointment" is probably one the BIGGEST understatements in the history of the D-news. He is easily the biggest flop that a #1 pick has ever been (when you consider the money he pocketed without producing).

Let's hope Riley gets in football shape and beats Hall out as QB.
Henry | 2:28 p.m. March 26, 2009
Hit DELETE for the uoobie trolls. A little more maturity, some pressure from Nelson, multiple receivers and Max will be good to go.
Chiggity | 3:15 p.m. March 26, 2009
Alright. We're all aware of how poorly Max played against Utah, but lets grow up with the stupid "everyone picked off Max" crap. Never once did i hear "My grandma could've hit Harline wide open in the endzone" . Such a lack of character, come on. And im actually embarassed for the comment made by my fellow Y fan about the Utes thudding to AZ. It actually reminded me alot of our poor play against A&M. Lets think our comments before submitting please. Now my question is, which game is more important. OU or Utah??
REF: Smith | 4:59 p.m. March 26, 2009
How any ute fan can say anything negative about a BYU QB after the complete embarrassment that Alex Smith has been on the pro level is beyond me. What a complete bust!!!

Suprise AZ Cougar
I also heard you kitties talking smack. One of these years you boys might beat A&M. I would also take 2 BCS Titles over Max Hall's terrible big game interceptions. Good luck bro
RE: REF Smith. | 9:03 a.m. March 27, 2009
I could care a less what he has done in the NFL. I only care about what he did for the Utes.
Chiggity | 12:11 p.m. March 27, 2009
Sure, the Utes have 2 BCS seasons. Still, they dont have a Heisman trophy or a National Championship. A BCS would be nice or the Y. However, our crudentials still exceed Utah's. And when we get our BCS, U still wont be close.

Go Cougars and Go Max. The loss to Utah was a fluke. BYU by 20 this year.

Quarterback Max Hall is working hard to not have any regrets after his senior year at BYU. Coaches and teammates have noticed, too.
