A truly great President would have brought the two sides together, and prevented the Civil War. Instead, on Lincoln's watch our nation suffered through a devastating Civil War, costing the lives of 600,000 Americans. Lincoln could have prevented the war, but he failed to do so. The Civil War was totally unnecessary. The Southern states were very capable of solving the slavery issue over time, without help from the North.

Nearly every country in the world has had slavery at one time or another, and virtually all of them have ended the practice without a civil war, except America, thanks to Abe Lincoln.

No Lincoln Lover you are a historical idiot who obviously has not studied history and the realities of the day. Lincoln did not want a Civil War and that was obvious from the beginnings. You freaks who think that all wars with evil people can be prevented by "talking" obviously have no idea what reality is. Why didn't you just talk to the 9/11 highjackers? Didn't they call you to talk about their need to kill tens of thousands. By God's good grace only just over 3,000 were killed had those buildings collapsed much quicker.

If as you ridiculously say the south was very capable of solving the slavery issue my question for you is how? You give no facts. The fact is they had tried for years to solve this issue and were obviously not going to do it.

Your lunacy goes farther in claiming no other nation has dwelt with slavery by war. Again you are way off the planet. Millions world wide have suffered in the battle to end slavery. You pascificsts are crazy people who don't have a clue and live off the government dole.
