Provo council hires budget officer

Of course Billings doesn't like the hiring and it isn't because of the
economy. It is because he knows all of the terrible management budget decisions
he has made in twelve very long years as mayor. From the millions given to
Action Target which benefits him personally to the iProvo debacle where he and
Garlick's terrible management has cost the City millions and will cost it
millions more in fifteen months after Broadweave has used all of the six million
security and dumps iProvo back in Provo's lap, to the money they mayor has
wasted at the airport to support his fetish for flying, to a myriad of other
projects that have left this City totally unprepared for the economic downturn.
How can the mayor have forced every department in the city to cut their budgets
or keep them stagnant at best for the past twelve years but the budget continues
to grow? He has taken those cuts and the additional revenues for projects that
benefit him and buy him votes. We, the citizens of Provo, it is time to call
him to an accounting and ask for a change for the better. Someone new!

Amen to Duh! Don't forget the horse trail head by the mouth of the canyon
the City spent several hundred thousand dollars for the Mayor's wife as
well. No one else uses it. That money would have been better spent in a park
where thousands could benefit from it rather than the few, namely Billings'
family. We have had enough bad management. It will take the next mayor a
decade to dig us out of the infernal pit this mayor has dug for us. Fortunately
he spent over a million dollars moving a few golf holes for a new development
that is not coming. I wonder if the City could use that million dollars
elsewhere? Well, at least the mayor can go golfing, after a good day of
horse-back riding, after a good after flying his airplane. See, those tax
dollars were well spent after all. Now the mayor can do everything HE ever
dreamed of.

Come on citizens, how long will you let a man waste millions of dollars when he
is supposedly "saving" for a rainy day and now that the rainy day has
come there is no money. I say show me the money Lewis! You have cut department
budgets 7 out of the last 11 years in the name of preparing while the going is
good for when the going is bad and yet now that the going is bad the Mayor has
no clothes. Egg on your face Lewis for misleading us citizens as well as your
employees. Answer one question: Where is the money?
