As far as Burns' new film, it doesn't surprise me that we can receive great spiritual and emotional nourishment from the beauty of the outdoors because nature was created by the creator of us all; God.
Tree-hugger?
No.
I don't even believe in the catastrophe of man-made global warming (Oh, the horror!)....that's a religion made by man, there.
BUT, I sure do love the sight of a rugged mountain peak draped in snow or a coursing waterfall splashing it's way down a hillside.
Is this the what we have to endure for the next 4 years? Mr. Burns why isn't the Great Depression or WWII or 9/11 the 3rd act...nope not with you. It is only because Obama is the President it becomes the 3rd act for you liberals.
Let's see, Ken burns makes documentaries that do nothing more than tell the truth - and that makes him a liberal. On behalf od all liberals I say, "Thank you."
They voted against the Nightmare of GW Bush.
And what a miracle and blessing that he happens to be half African as well! That has brought a crucial symbolism to this election that we must not overlook by refusing to take off our partisan blinders. Let's breathe the air of peace that is prevailing for the moment--2 million gathered in DC and NO INCIDENTS or ARRESTS! Let it flow, and work with it, and let it fill us with--yes--HOPE!
Sorry, I do not agree with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc., this just down plays what history is. History is not a play, movie, theatrical act ... history is there so we can learn from it, the good & the bad, we can't pick & choose, we can't gloss over, we can't change & we can't look at the way our forefathers thought or acted with or views today (it was totally different lifestyle/attitude back then).
Of course all of this is in my 'No Political Party Affiliation' opinion.
Global warming may or may not be real, but one thing is. Humans are not very responsible care takers of our planet. One little example is all the trash that people leave on your beloved mountain peaks.
Ken Burns may have a different perspective than you but that doesn't make him wrong and certainly not arrogant.
But just as we are heaping undeserved praise on Obama we are doing the same to Bush, he gets no credit from the media from the things he did right (few that there were) and most Americans have no idea about anything he did other than Iraq. Truly a shame. I hope people will be able to eventually calm down and fairly judge our new President for his works.
