Third act, huh? Hmmmm...seems to me this third act is less about treating minorities fairly and more about "what can I get the Government to give me".

As far as Burns' new film, it doesn't surprise me that we can receive great spiritual and emotional nourishment from the beauty of the outdoors because nature was created by the creator of us all; God.

Tree-hugger?

No.

I don't even believe in the catastrophe of man-made global warming (Oh, the horror!)....that's a religion made by man, there.

BUT, I sure do love the sight of a rugged mountain peak draped in snow or a coursing waterfall splashing it's way down a hillside.

Ken Burns wants it to be the "Third Act" just like he wanted you to believe that New York City is the only relevent place baseball was only played.

Is this the what we have to endure for the next 4 years? Mr. Burns why isn't the Great Depression or WWII or 9/11 the 3rd act...nope not with you. It is only because Obama is the President it becomes the 3rd act for you liberals.

Howie, your reading comprehension is suffering; Mr. Burns wasn't talking about all of American history in three acts, but the racial history of American history. Before you try to knock one of the great historians of our time, maybe you should learn how to read. Another great US historian, David McCullough, had a similar synopsis of American history. Is he wrong too? In this context, your slant on liberals is naive.

Howie 4:47 said "It is only because Obama is the president it becomes the 3rd act for you liberals."

Let's see, Ken burns makes documentaries that do nothing more than tell the truth - and that makes him a liberal. On behalf od all liberals I say, "Thank you."

What can you say, Liberals will always be Liberals. Burns has been shown bias in everything he has done. It can't be a surprise that he would say these things. The mystery to me is why he thinks anyone should care.

America did not vote for the Dream of ML King.
They voted against the Nightmare of GW Bush.

Don't attack Ken Burns just because he likes what has happened. I agree with Ambrose and McCullough about him. I voted for the Democratic nominee for the first time in my 30 year voting career, because I could not deny that while he and I aren't agreed on all the most important issues, he is the better man for the job.

And what a miracle and blessing that he happens to be half African as well! That has brought a crucial symbolism to this election that we must not overlook by refusing to take off our partisan blinders. Let's breathe the air of peace that is prevailing for the moment--2 million gathered in DC and NO INCIDENTS or ARRESTS! Let it flow, and work with it, and let it fill us with--yes--HOPE!
End of 3rd Act | 11:41 a.m. Jan. 23, 2009
I sure 'HOPE' at the end of the 3rd act there is no final curtain!

Sorry, I do not agree with 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc., this just down plays what history is. History is not a play, movie, theatrical act ... history is there so we can learn from it, the good & the bad, we can't pick & choose, we can't gloss over, we can't change & we can't look at the way our forefathers thought or acted with or views today (it was totally different lifestyle/attitude back then).

Of course all of this is in my 'No Political Party Affiliation' opinion.
If he makes.... | 11:56 a.m. Jan. 23, 2009
Most people would walk out before the end saying you know, this is just too unbelievable! Americans electing a guy with NO experience, this just can't happen.

To Anonymous 4:04 p.m. I'm sure you are feeling much better after your rant.

Global warming may or may not be real, but one thing is. Humans are not very responsible care takers of our planet. One little example is all the trash that people leave on your beloved mountain peaks.

Ken Burns may have a different perspective than you but that doesn't make him wrong and certainly not arrogant.

Doesn't make him right either.

So what has Obama done exactly? I am amazed how he has become an idol worshipped and infallible. He has not done anything yet, not in the Senate either. He's a great speaker and I hope he is a good president, but that really does not matter because the media has made it clear that everything he does and says will be right and all those who disagree have something wrong with them. He is already going down as the greatest president ever, I've already heard people say that and he has not done anything yet. I find it all scary. I think Bush was a failure and totally let American down and left conservatives holding the bag even though he was elected by them.

But just as we are heaping undeserved praise on Obama we are doing the same to Bush, he gets no credit from the media from the things he did right (few that there were) and most Americans have no idea about anything he did other than Iraq. Truly a shame. I hope people will be able to eventually calm down and fairly judge our new President for his works.
