I am always amazed at the naysayers (whom I am sure will follow my post) with regard to charter schools. The most beautiful aspect is they are totally free and totally choice-based - you don't have to attend one, or send your child to one. But if you WANT to, it is wonderful to have the option.
I believe it won't be long before we look back on all the studies and data and realize charters were the best thing to happen in public ed for the past 15 years.
When you have the chance to talk to a charter school parent who details the change in their child with a different approach, or a student who tells you - "it changed my life" you care little about the naysayers and you realize how powerful and important this choice is.
Good luck to the inmates! Can't wait to hear the life-changing stories.
