Pathetic! This is the same Arizona team New Mexico beat earlier this season.
Ute Fans | 11:01 p.m. Dec. 20, 2008
It was difficult for me to root for BYU tonight. Like many of you, this was the first time I have ever cheered for BYU.

I have read through every post on this board and did not seen one post from a BYU fan that made excuses or claimed that Arizona was lucky.

Many seem to believe that there is a coaching problem, recruiting issues, priorities out of whack, etc. I'm not sure I've ever seen BYU fans collectively talk like this. It's refreshing in some ways, disconcerting in other ways. Let's make an effort to be supportive. We have a tough game coming up.

How quick you turn on your team (QB, Coaches) when you realize they aren't perfect.

Go eat some green jello maybe that will cheer you up.

Now pack up the vans and head home.

Sad day | 11:06 p.m. Dec. 20, 2008
It was a tough day for BYU. That happens. Even to Utes.

People will scream that someone should be fired. We''ll hear that the PAC-10 plays like gods while BYU plays like humans.

The team was broken psychologically when it lost to TCU and couldn't recover. It happens. Ask the great PAC-10 team Washington.

Arizona deserved to win the game. Of course the 16 points BYU gave away (or had taken away) might have made the game much closer than it turned out

There is a HUGE difference between the "fans" from the TDS and real fans from the University of Utah.
The #1 factor in this rivalry is the Holier-Than-Thou attitide displayed by most Cougar fans.
I am raising a glass for a fine performance by the 'Cats of AZ.
Bravo!
If Utah looses to 'Bama it will not be an upset nor will it be an embarrassment. Tonight's game for BYU was a MAJOR embarrassment. It was sweet for us Ute fans that have heard about the Quest all year.
I have witnessed a Humbling of the Proud tonight. THere are several on here that have called for a Truce. These are the same guys that all week long were saying how BYU was going to destroy AZ. THese were the guys predicting a 30 point win tonight. You have been humbled and now are asking for a respit from UTE fans.
I say, "get thee hence foul demons". I shall not be fooled. For once the season begins again next year, you will dust off your rabid and loathsome apparel and will again claim superiority.

Quit measuring progress vs PAC!
The PAC10 is not that good.
Schedule games vs Big12 and SEC mid-level teams, and even the ACC.
Toughen up your schedule and your teams will get better.

What happened, I think we ran into another buzzsaw.

What were thinking I guess we need an offense and a defense to go undefeated. Why were we looking to the end of the season in the spring again?

Austin is still perfect in my eyes.

Yes I am a man, get over it.

Humble pie must taste amazing! | 11:11 p.m. Dec. 20, 2008
I love it when a BYU team that claims it should have had National Title hopes can't even beat a weak Pac-10 team!!! Man it must feel good to taste the sweet taste of humble pie!!
NevadaUTE | 11:11 p.m. Dec. 20, 2008
ONE win against a winning team this year? I would suggest BYU schedules foes like Timpview and Provo High School next year and maybe there might be another winning season for the Kitties. And, breaking news...I'm a Ute grad and a Physician (not pumping gas at Chevron). But then again, Cougar grads aren't called doctors, there is no medical school there.

BYU education college... | 11:17 p.m. Dec. 20, 2008
was also discredited by a National Academic association a few years ago as well. That comment by Lenny Gomes is the most perfect comment about how most BYU fans feel about the Utes and their fans. If you are a fan of BYU you feel a certain superiority to all others, especially Utah fans. It is surprising to me how many General Authorities have actual degrees from the University of Utah, while they all have "honorary" degrees from BYU.
So while all you Cougar fans choke on the bone that your team served to you tonight, remember this: You are not better than us, the fans of the school to the north.
STOP thinking you are.

Big B | 11:22 p.m. Dec. 20, 2008
Way to go Cougs! Losing to a barely .500 team. TDS needs three things -- a QB who can perform in the clutch, some DB's with speed, and an OC who can game plan. What's the quest for next year? Mediocrity?
Ute fan made the trip to vegas | 11:23 p.m. Dec. 20, 2008
I was rooting for the cougs today... but it was ugly. They just didn't look sharp and slow on defense. The ref'ing was ugly too. Lots of reviews and reversed calls while we all sat for long periods shivering in the cold. AZ wasn't really that good today, they were just less bad.
Root for the cougs, 'cept when they play the Utes. Go Utes! You're going to have to need your A game in Lousiana.

Thanks for all your belittling remarks Cougars. It does make it hard to cheer for you but I still manage.

I wanted to compliment you on trying to play like the Aggies tonight! I know you always make fun of us in Logan and while I love Logan I do have to say the comments from BYU fans often sting but it is weird to watch you try SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO hard to play just like us.

Anyway I will head back to the pasture.

Oh also as a LDS member I will say I was in shock and awe to see BYU players using the F bomb today in Phoenix, nasty nasty.

GO BYU:)

You all are so lame. As Cougars fans we can certainly be disappointed in tonight's loss, but to start calling for Bronco's head after a 10-3 season shows a great deal of ignorance on your part, Justin. I'm as True Blue as they come, but at the end of the day it's just a football game. You have to take the good with the bad. If you can't stick with the program through a tough loss or two, then get off the train and take your unloyal attitude elsewhere. The last three seasons ... 11-2, 11-2, 10-3. Show me many other programs in the country that have managed that level of performance. It's a short list.

Priorities | 11:36 p.m. Dec. 20, 2008
Come on Cougar faithful...it's just a game. Afterall, football is only #5 on the list of priorities didn't you see the graphic that Bronco gave the announcers? Ha, that's what you'll say but in reality it's the only thing you care about. Your QB can't perform in the clutch, not against a team with a pulse atleast. You may say Utah gets beat, but hey, they're there and they are having the season and bowl game that you can only pray for. Good job though playing in another Vegas Bowl, you're bowl record isn't even good, never has been.

Way not to represent the conference, kUUgs.
Give it up for Austin | 11:40 p.m. Dec. 20, 2008
WOOF!

Go pro. The only reason BYU only lost to Utah by 24 is because of Collie. He kept them "close"

Lenny Gomes where are you?
NevadaUTE | 11:40 p.m. Dec. 20, 2008
I'm well aware the Utes could be heading to the slaughterhouse in New Orleans. I don't think any Ute fan would argue that this team is as good as the 2004 team - not even close. But, let's get real: Arizona and Alabama aren't even in the same league. Should the Utes go down in defeat, it will be to a team that has been ranked #1 in the Nation most of the year.
re Drunk ute fans | 11:45 p.m. Dec. 20, 2008
Zero class eh? Yeah like chanting "4th and 18" and "Harline is still open" is classy. Good job losing to the #5 in the Pac10. Remember war kittens, as posted earlier, "make your words soft and sweet you never know when you'll have to eat them".

By the way Kruger is still open and Max Hall is still throwing interceptions!
Such a great game | 11:51 p.m. Dec. 20, 2008
I loved the game tonight. I suddenly became a "Cats fan bought an AZ hat a few weeks ago. I went out to Wendover and bet $1000 on AZ. last weekend.
It is with GREAT pride that I will be returning there tomorrow to collect.
It is like the earlier poster said: The only happy Cougar fans tonight are the ones that died before BYU played TCU or the ones that went into a coma just prior to that game and haven't come out of it yet.
The poor widdle picked on Zoobs.
Utah will probably loose to 'Bama but that game will not be an embarrassment. Utah will represent. 'Bama has one loss and they were at the top of the polls for most of the year. If, and it is a mild if, Utah looses, it will not disappoint me and all Utah fans nearly as much as I'm sure this loss disappoints most Zoobs.

It's gotta hurt. Come on, admit it: It has to really HURT.
Rushing the Field | 11:52 p.m. Dec. 20, 2008
Hey kUUgies, where's the complaints about the classlessness of the Wildcats rushing the field?

Oh, I see. It's only classless when the Utes do it.
BRONCO | 11:54 p.m. Dec. 20, 2008
Just win the MWC and beat a 4th or 5th place PAC 10 team next year in the Pioneer Las Vegas Bowl.

The fans don't know any better.

Everything will be fine!
Re Drunk Utah Fans | 11:59 p.m. Dec. 20, 2008
Everyone is drunk because they are not BYU fans. This is why everyone cheers against BYU because of stupidity like this. Holy BYU fans, you are so lame. Utha Utes will represent we and their fans are not a bunch of lost sheep

an angel just got it's wings.....

It's always a great day when byu loses - but it's even better when they lose in both football and basketball.

Thanks for making my holiday season great!!!!

Perfect ending for the "Qwest for third." The only thing I could wish for now is that your lame fans would go back into the closet not to be seen or heard from for a long long time.

Could someone please tell me what TDS means? Thanks.
Ouch | 12:09 a.m. Dec. 21, 2008
I have watched BYU over the season, and I feared the blow out games against UCLA and Wyoming coupled with the last minute save at Washington and I knew disaster was in the making. I have experienced it and seen it far too often. The team feels they are invincible and now matter what the coaches do the team members feel they can come back and the effort is simply not there. One sees that in the blowout at TCU the embarrassment at Utah and now the defeat by Arizona. It speaks volumes about the psychic of these young men. It will be interesting to see what happens in the off season and how they and the coaches respond next year.
chokers | 12:17 a.m. Dec. 21, 2008
Max Hall is a very average QB.
Pitta was only 50%----hurt us tons in both Utah and this game.

Anea is a terrible offensive coordinater...no imagination, no feel for the game and no adjustments.

2 and 3 man rushes are lame--our DB's get burned when we drop 8. Why not blitz a little and take the chance of them getting burned when they will anyways.

Why would any good defensive recruit come here? If you are a linebacker do you really want to drop back in coverage every play of the game? NO!!!!! You want to sack a QB now and then.

This team is a bunch of chokers who have no emotion.
BYU fan | 12:15 a.m. Dec. 21, 2008
As a long time BYU fan, this was the most embarassing thing to cap off a rediculously embarassing season. Usually BYU out plays their potential and skill. This year, we have had more potential than ever, yet we have failed to show up for over half our games. How does a team show up so dang ill-prepared for a bowl game. Who really cared out there? Judging by the players excitment, not even Collie gave a crap about anything out there. We honestly shouldn't even be a top 20 team. We don't deserve it.

PLEASE FIND A NEW QB
silverbandit-Las Vegas | 12:23 a.m. Dec. 21, 2008
Hey tell Bronco to either get rid of the defenseless 3 man front or get rid of the defensive coordinator. BYU nor many other teams are successful with a 3 man defensive line. And by that I mean defensive lineman and not using linebackers to fill defensive end positions. Just face it, BYU's secondary is average on a real good day and they do not possess the athleticism to cover above average receivers. They rely on offenses making mistakes more than their ability to make defensive plays. Now for the offense or lack of it, Max Hall and company you are good but no where near great. It just bewilders me to see an offensive line so BIG yet so WEAK. How in the world can you not run block? Travis Bright, "The Big Weakling," with your run blocking since Washington you should be named Travis Dim. Thanks to the rest of the offensive line, the 3 defensive linemen, Fui, Unga, Reed, Collie, George, Pitta for playing your hearts out. Maybe next year the slogan should be "Quest For Leadership", or "Quest for DIscipline".
No | 12:26 a.m. Dec. 21, 2008
Utah wouldn't beat everyone in the PAC 10 easily except USC..They barely beat OSU at home,, and no Alabama is not way better than any team in the PAC 10 they went overtime with a 4 loss bad LSU team. So Utah stop trying to pad your loss to Alabama before it happens, cause it's going to happen.
