Utah will miss Gary Anderson. This is the only downside of a great year -- the coaching staff soon becomes swiss cheese. Let's hope the head coach stays.

Utah State Fans, Your Athletic director did a good job. Andersen was my coach in 94-98. He turned our defensive line around. He was the man for us (players) hopefully it would be the same for your school, community and fans.

Hey Andersen and Kyle during my playing days learned all their recruiting mindsets from the "old man" Macbride. Gary wish you the best, see you in the camps.

Climbers who ascend Mt Everest are met with a great view at the final base camp; but, the view from the final base camp still pales in comparison to the view from the top of Mt Everest, which is spectacular.

Playing in a BCS game is like the final base camp.

Winning a National Championship is the top of Mt Everest.

"Good job, you won the popularity contest that year."

So what's changed? Two of the three components of the BCS formula are still a popularity contest.

USC won the AP national championship is 2003 when they finished the regular season ranked No. 1 in both polls and No. 1 in the final AP poll.

"please explain to me how one undefeated season is better than two"

First of all, Utah doesn't have two undefeated season, unless you're counting their bowl game against Alabama, Texas, or Florida as an automatic win.

Second, BYU also has two undefeated regular seasons. See 1979 and 1984.

Third, ask Penn State about which is better, an undefeated season or a national championship. They have both, undefeated seasons without a national championship, and one-loss seasons in which they won the national championship.

Ha Ha, Utah loosing Johnson, Mac, Casteel and Anderson = 3 more losses are you kidding? If you watched the Utes, you would notice that Mac and Casteel had very insignificant seasons, due to the rise of Asisata, and several other players, Casteel only scored 3 touchdowns this year if I am correct. As for Anderson If you know your Utah History Whitt is the defesnive Genious and will ensure that a coordinator with his smarts and ability will be hired if he cannot find one, he will do it himself. Finaly don't kid yourself that Corbin Louks is not a good Quarter Back, he will tear it up next year go Utes.
A great recruiter? | 5:28 p.m. Dec. 4, 2008
Let's not forget that Anderson took over after 2004 and the BCS season. It is not dificult to recruit riding the wave of a BCS game. Whit has talked about that paying dividends even today.

Anderson has brought in some good names but let's see him do it with a sales pitch that includes beating Idaho and New Mexico State each year and losing big to everyone else.

Utah and BYU will continue to get the best in and out of this state due to the MWC and facilities alone, not to mention the opportunity to be a top 25 team that Utah State has not been in years. Anderson should have held out for a better job than Utah State.

It sounded to me like you just said "2 undefeated seasons". Sounds like you're counting your chickens before they hatch, because unless you play the ACC or big east champ, you'll more than likely end your season at 12-1 (not quite as good, BTW, as BYU's second best season at 14-1).

And if you want to use how many undefeated seasons as your basis for the better program, why don't you look instead to finishes in the top 10, or 20 for that matter.

Keep looking for ways to overcome your envy, little bro.

Hahahha...to anonymous...hey man...Kyle learned all his stuff from old man Fred (his pops). How do i know...I played for them. Kyle is good coach, but he has his days like everyone else. I recall 97 against the ducks, Kyle has his moments during that game. Lets just say he struggled being DC at the time. Yall dont know what you say some times. Couch jocks...hahahahah. laughable.

is the new UW Head coach. Sorry Haters...Coach whit is here to STAY! Our D will be fine..It's not coach andersons Defense, It's Coach Whit's. Perfection lives on the hill. BYU and USU are jealous and insecure! See you at the sugar bowl!

So, the undefeated seasons are 1979 and 1984. Wow, that's a long way back. What has BYU done lately? Apart from being 2-2 with Utah; nothing.

By the way, there have been a number of posts talking about BYU being rated #6 in 1996. Based on your post, I surmise that they were not undefeated that year. So, was that the year they were blown out by Hawaii? If so, BYU certainly did not finish at #6.

Like this year, achieving a #8 ranking and then getting blown out twice.

Best of luck to coach Anderson. Hopefully he can make the rivalry games against Utah and byu more interesting in the future. Can't blame the guy for taking a step up the career ladder.

I was hoping someone came around to offer Ludwig a job. Anyone??
RE: RE: Bigutefan | 3:47 a.m. Dec. 5, 2008
Utah a national power?!? Nope. Better then ACC, Big East, and Pac-10 (minus USC) YES!!!

Now can you say that about USU?

FL and OK might score 63 but Alabama? Come on!! They're not playing USU!!

Utah fans are so clueless about football history it's sad.

BYU wasn't undefeated during the regular season, but they did finish their regular season 12-1, with their only loss on the road to #16 Washington (9-3) 17-29.

BYU finished the season 14-1 with a win over #17 Kansas State (9-3) 19-15 in the Cotton Bowl.

BYU's final ranking in the polls, #5 AP, #5 Coaches.

btw, BYU beat Hawaii 45-14 and Utah 37-17 in 1996.
Should've been Baer | 8:39 a.m. Dec. 6, 2008
What were you thinking USU?

Andersen might have been lucky in the past few years, but he does not have NEAR the resume that Baer has. His defense was 3rd in the nation in 2004, come on!...and you let him go?!? Not to mention that Baer is a former Aggie.

Good luck with your funding, I hear lots of boosters in Logan are NOT happy...
