Obama is the best thing to happen to this country in 8 years. I can't wait for him to take office.

Great pick for National Security Advisor! Semper Fi!
Bait and switch | 1:04 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Obama pulled off the classic bait and switch. He baited voters with a promise of change and give us a corrupt, unqualified Washington insider!

hillarious foreign policy | 1:34 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
As a conservative foreigner I am disappointed by the "change" in Washington. I hoped Obama could have done better and truly shown what the "change" should be about. During the Clinton era Hilary ran her own foreign affairs from the White House. She had HER agenda... Now Obama is giving her HER mandate, as well.
America could have done better!
Obama cannot control her - and she will represent herself - NOT the president, NOT the US, but herself.
Shoving Hilary to the world is NOT the Obama "change" the world deserved.
Congrats | 2:06 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Sounds like he's putting together a winning team. Let's hope in four years things are getting better and in eight they are great!
oldman | 5:13 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Agreed! Good riddance to the worst president ever - Dubbya. The damage he did to America and its people is a shame.
Re: Can't Wait | 5:59 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
you're so wrong, if this is the best thing to happen in the last eight years, I feel sorry for your life.
OhYea | 7:26 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
What a dissapointment. The Washington "Good Ole Boy" system is alive and well. Different party, but the same stale stupid ideas from the same self serving people that got us in this mess. Hang on everybody, your life is going down the tube and don't expect Washington to care. They'll go through the same worthless motions, but they really don't care.

Apparently Obama has decided to let the Clintons take over his presidency and has decided to become a minor figure in his own administration. It's beginning to look like the Clintons' third term.

Moderates, huh? I'm beginning to wonder who won the election--the Democrats or the Republicans. So far, it looks like the Repulicans.

Oh well, maybe we can take heart. Maybe he won't be quite as bad as we all feared.
How Obama Won... | 8:03 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
This is real simple folks.

Govenor Huckabee won big in Iowa. Coming into South Carolina, the conservative vote was split between Fred Thompson and Mike Huckabee. That split enabled John McCain to win SC.

Both Florida and Michigan failed to register on time for the DNC's deadline. Therefore, Democrats who would have voted in those primaries instead voted in open Republican primaries. That's how McCain won Florida and Romney won Michigen. Republicans voted for Huckabee, and Democrats continued to vote for McCain and Romney in open primaries.

Although McCain tried to whooo the base with Palin, his determination to silence her and then run his campaign to the left of Obama angered many conservatives who then refused to vote - period. After his defeat, McCain and Leiberman ran back to Harry Reid.

Bottem line: let's keep Republican Primaries closed to only Republicans.
Pittakos | 8:10 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Who'd have thunk that Obama would have ended up being right of center?
Cats | 8:40 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
I used to really like Mike Huckabee. That's before he got so nasty against Mitt Romney and used anti-mormon tactics. Of course, his dislike of Romney was based mostly on total jealousy along with a little religious bigotry thrown in.

I'm sure it's hard to deal with having to run against someone who is better looking, richer, smarter and has a "perfect" family. Huckabee behaved in a way that was small and nasty. I lost a lot of respect for him and it's going to take a lot to get it back.
Conservative values | 8:52 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
How Obama Won...you prove conservative is to values with double standards as fish are to water.

Remember, Herr Propaganda Mister Limbaugh telling his conservatives followers to march lockstep to the polls to vote in democratic primaries for Clinton? This was "Operation Chaos," to subvert the American electoral process.

"Limbaugh conspiratorially calls the tactic, Operation Chaos.

He began urging his listeners to vote for Clinton in the run-up to the March 4 nominating contests in Texas and Ohio after it was apparent John McCain would easily secure the Republican nomination. Limbaugh explained to fellow conservative talk radio host Laura Ingraham on Fox News on March 29, I want our party to win. I want the Democrats to lose. They're in the midst of tearing themselves apart right now. It is fascinating to watch, and it's all going to stop if Hillary loses.

Weeks before the swearing in of Obama, we can see the fruits of Limbaugh's logic. There are his listeners, who have been being duped, are now being duped and will keep on being doped. Life deduced to being one of Limbaugh's fools.

The POW camp commander blared, "Today we have a change. A change of underwear!" cheer goes up.

"Inmate A to M will change their underwear with inmates N to Z."

Welcome to the Obama-nation where change is whatever we want it to mean. Same-o-same-o fits his bill. Gullible Obamaites let his vacuous rhetoric be filled in with whatever delusional images they had in their wee bitty minds and said that was what Obama believed in. He's a painted sepulcher.

Reality bites and it will bite Obamaites hard when, two years from now 1) the economy is still in recession and hearing "it's Bush's fault" have wearied even the Bush haters, 2) 125,000 troops are still in Iraq because... they have to be! 3) Another terrorist strike somewhere is causing an upheaval and we're rattling our swords and talking tough about getting them. 4) Bin Laden is still being protected by the Pakis.

Now who to blame...
OhYea | 9:27 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Amen RockOn. And look at how much the Obama saved American tax payers. No body had to move in or out of Washington. Everyone that got us in this mess is still there and still in control.

Welcome to the United Socialist States of North America.
OhYea | 9:34 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Sure would like to see a national poll of people that voted for Obama that would like to take their vote back. I'd be one of them. He sure had a lot of favors to repay didn't he.

I'd like to see another national poll showing the "no confidence in his decisions and he hasn't taken office yet." Boy what fun the next 4 very long years have in store for us.

Which is why in 5 years, when my son turns 18 (single Dad), I am emigrating to Costa Rica, even though I spent 23 years in the Navy (Retired E-7)and in 5-1/2 months will retire as a Police Officer. Enough is enough.
Obama's rebuke - | 9:43 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
will be found in Saxby Chambliss' victory tomorrow. His victory will send a message that conservatives do matter and that the liberal era of Pelosi/Bush/Obama has gotten us NOWHERE!

Thank you, Sarah Palin and Saxby Chambliss. This will be a sweet victory. Ha ha, B. Hussein Obama. Before the end of the night, this Running Ute will catch a case of Bulldog fever!

Big Words | 9:46 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
RE: RockOn | 9:13 a.m

You use big words to try and persuade people into thinking that you are intelligent and therefore you must know what you are talking about.

People that use Big Words to push their agenda look like idiots, you are the same as the fakes that sit in coffee shops with their MacBooks and look like a clone.

The simple fact that you think we "have to be in Iraq", shows that you really do not understand global politics and you should stick with your mass labling of Obamaites.

When you get an actual education please come talk to me, until then, realize that anyone can pick up a thesaurus and try to look intelligent.
It is not the quality of words coming out of ones mouth that defines intelligence, it is the quality of ideas.
Re: oldman | 9:50 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
I see some of the True Believers still retain their childlike faith in Hope and Change despite evidence to the contrary.

The truth is the Obama Administration is shaping up to be a hybrid third term for both the Clinton and Bush administrations. The "business as usual" crowd that the President-elect campaigned against are the very people he is choosing to run his administration.

Not that there's anything wrong with that; contrary to the myths the Left and the Media have been peddling the economy isn't the worst it has been since the Great Depression, the Iraq war hasn't been a disaster, and many of the policies of Presidents Bush and Clinton have been beneficial to both America and the rest of the world.

Thankfully, President Obama is wise enough to recognize that and govern accordingly. Unfortunately, many of his supporters still cling to their Leftist dogmas.

Good luck in Costa Rica! Hope you're a native or you'll have a terrible time finding a place to live in a country that only allows natives to own property. Oh, and thanks for your service to our country--don't let the door hit you on your way out.
Of Course. | 10:04 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Of course Barack Husein Obama wants to end the war on terrorism. He's one of them.
At-will Appointments | 10:09 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Don't have a clue what's going to happen in the next few months, but you nay-sayers do realize that cabinet members serve at the pleasure of the President, right?

So, they take a couple of steps "out of line" and they can be replaced immediately -- no questions asked.

They bring their ideas to the table, many of which will be contrary to the President's, and he makes the decisions. The cabinet members then implement those decisions.

Should be interesting, and it could work out.

I can't see how it could be much worse than what we've had lately and I'm willing to give it a try.

Lincoln did a similar thing, BTW.

I am NOT making any sort of comparison between the two men, only between their choices of cabinet members and the speed with which the choices were made.

Good luck to all of them -- we're going to need it!

Stop being one of those many jack mormons or sunday mormons ok! Im one on those whor really go to church to listen and DO things for a better world!!! sop please if you are not going to make a positive comment...be quiet!"

WRONG! The Republican party being held by religiously fanatic right wing-nuts, and the Bush/Chenney factor ARE about religion!

The religious right got their day with this country and through Bush/Chenney/Republican majority run this country on a purely 'theocratic' ideology. Banning stem cell research, loading the Supreme court with theocratic ideologues, invading Iraq because God said to do so, faith based programs getting funding while broad-serving secular social programs were axed, gutting public education in favor of religiously motivated private education interests, and the list goes on and on...

That said, may I now boldly say, I am an active Mormon and very proud of my 'left of center' view of politics, which incidentally is exactly where Jesus stood in his own politics with the Romans and jews, exemplified in his actions!

It would sure be a kick in the pants if Chambliss lost - because the beauty queen and ID politics. I'd be all for that one, even though we'll loose another seat, it will be worth it to prove Palin's coat tales have been cut off.

And never, will I vote for Huckabee or Palin. Both have the same voters. Bigots.
RH | 10:25 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
I think Mr. BHO better look up "change" in the dictionary and find out the true meaning of the word. Looks like he translates it to mean the "same", as in, same old fools helping him run the country. He is not bringing change as he promised in his campaign, just the same old crap that has been coming out of Washington for the last 16 years. Time for "the PEOPLE" to take control and vote these fools out, ALL OF THEM! Better hang on to your guns too, he will try and get those as soon as he can. He does not support the 2nd amendment as he says he does. God help us, we are in for a rough storm!
Soooooo | 10:31 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
So now we get Mrs. Clinton as the Sec. of State. Ok, who now is going to run the USA? Nobama and his "Change"? or Mrs. Clinton who while in the White House with her sex addicted husband did so much to set up the destruction of the USA on many accounts only to have it blamed on Mr. Bush? I guess the "Change we can Count On" is that the more things change the more they stay the same.
Joe Moe | 10:58 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
I did not support Obama, and I worry about his liberal agenda. But it's true that governing well isn't all about partisan politics; it's also about having able people in important positions. I admit I am cautiously optimistic about the team Obama is assembling. I think he knows this country will punish him and his party if they go too far left. They have been given a great chance, and he knows he needs to stay towards the center, or lose it. I think he may be less dogmatic than I feared.

Senator Clinton as new Secretary of State?

There goes the neighborhood...
Brother Chuck Schroeder | 11:04 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
We all know President-select Obama named Hillary Clinton as the person hell nominate for the job of secretary of state. (Shell be the first U.S. Senator from New York to get that job since John Foster Dulles in 1952.) Which raises the question of her lingering debt from the presidential campaign, will it be a full pardon from hin to for her and this debt?. What is Mrs. Clinton going to do about the $8 million owed by her '08 presidential campaign?. After conceding the Democratic nomination to Obama earlier this year, the former First Lady was in the red to the tune of almost $22 million, the largest presidential campaign debt in history. She has already eaten the $13 million of her own money that she lent to jump-start the campaign. According to the October SEC reports, the Clinton campaign has just over $1.1 million on hand. Can she legally be retiring the debt as a federal employee?. What middle class tax payer's will pick up this debt?. Will it be the "Joe the Plumber's or Joe-Six-Pack" that don't spread their wealth's unless forced to like this act?. You tell me right now ok?.

SCROLL UP!.
So this is CHANGE | 11:16 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Im glad to see that Obama is all about CHANGE - same old people in Washington, just CHANGE their title.
Lewt - Re: 11:04 AM | 11:44 a.m. Dec. 1, 2008
Brother Chuck Schroeder is 100% right as always here. Most of us have seen the film of John F. Kenned's birthday party at Madison Square Garden, in which Marilyn Monroe serenades him with "Happy Birthday, Mr. President." Most of us don't know that the guests at the party were charged to help pay off the debt from Kennedy's winning presidential campaign two years before. "Which raises the question of her lingering debt from the presidential campaign, will it be a full pardon from hin to for her and this debt?. Obama is a breath of fresh air. It's time for the conservative right-wing fringe to recognize the nightmare created by President George W. Bush and Vice President Cheney - no more denial! Their failure directly affects us, our children, and future generations. We have no time for whining, name calling, or divisiveness. Let's unite as a nation and give our new President unified, unqualified support - as he attempts to rebuild our traumatized/diminished Republic. Let's not be petty! We must abandon past prejudice and animosity. The campaigning and election are behind us. Think America first, take a giant step forward, by giving President elect Obama a chance and your support. Our future depends on it.

This year, more than ever, has given us an election based on popularity and nothing more.

"Bush said that his "biggest regret" was the US intelligence failure on Iraq."

I am sure that the military families who lost loved ones and the tens of thousands that returned from the Middle East that were injured and maimed will find comfort in those words.

I say good riddance to our current president.

To: Oldman..Don't put all the blame on Pres. Bush..remember he has to answer to Congress and the Senate...most have been democrats...Pres. Bush is not perfect as you and I are not perfect. He did a tremendous job of being President and the best he could do dealing with the greedy and immoral democrat party. Obama is the same makeup and you are kidding yourself if you think this country is going to be better off with him. He is sly, lies and has no experience under his belt to be President. Heaven help our United State of America with Barack Obama as President and all his democratic buddies tagging along. There is not a bright future for our children and grandchildren...not with this country being toted along by the greedy, dishonest democrats and all their cronies. President Bush did the best job her could do with the terrible circumstances he had to deal with in Congress and the Senate. God bless President Bush..our hats go off to a man that is not perfect and never slaimed to be so.

If you'll check, you'll find it was the US Congress who got us into the Iraq War. Look up and read the Resolution that august body passed authorizing the war for proof. The American dead and wounded can put the blame where it belongs... not on Bush but on the governing body responsible for getting us into wars.

PS: Our new head of the State Department voted for the Iraq War Resolution. As did B. Hussein Osama's illustrious vice presidential candidate Joe Biden.
