The Keepers:
Nick Rimando
Nat Borchers
Will Johnson
Kyle Beckerman
Javier Morales
Yura Movsisyan
Olave
Andy Williams
Fabian Espindola
Robbie Findley
Robbie Russell

Go RSL!!!
Re: Anonymous | 12:40 p.m. Nov. 17, 2008
Rimando can go and we should put Dr Goal in his place. He should be much better with a break to get rested for the season finally. I would also leave out Andy Williams but RSL is not going to do that because of him being one of the last original players left. But he is losing it a bit. But if I know RSL they'll do something stupid like leave someone who is way important to our success going forward.
THE ABSOLUTE KEEPS (in order of importance):
Morales
Olave
Beckerman
Johnson
Espindosa
Findley

everyone else is more or less important but can be replaced. Yura Movsisyan is on the fringe of that group. I hope Seattle takes Dema off our hands or Rimando. Anyone else think it's Seitz time next year? I sure do

Rimando has kept us in the game. He's a vet. player we need, and Seitz is a future player we need. good luck to all the players. Thanks for a great season.

Aging Keeper | 1:20 p.m. Nov. 17, 2008
I agree to not protect Williams. I like him and would prefer he stayed, but its a strategic decision. His age makes him unattractive to select. But for RSL he is one of the 3 foreigners that are required to be unprotected.
Mathis same. Age and history would make him an undesirable pick.
I would add Borchers to the protect group. Can't underestimate the importance of the chemistry developed between the two center-backs.
3pts for a win | 2:02 p.m. Nov. 17, 2008
10-10-10 gives 40 from a possible 90 pts which is a 0.444 record or 1.33pts per game. 15-15-0 (in soccer 15-0-15) gives 45pts which is a 0.500 record or 1.5pts per game.

Does anyone here understand what difference ties make?

RSL 2008's 10-10-10 was average, but the statistical understanding is mediocre.
The Future | 2:31 p.m. Nov. 17, 2008
I feel good about RSL's future at this moment. This is certainly a different team under Kreis. Especially in regards to tempo. Give it time and I think this will all pay off.
Re: Anonymous | 3:16 p.m. Nov. 17, 2008
Seattle has Keller so i'm sure they won't take a keeper in the expansion draft.
Ball Control | 7:21 p.m. Nov. 17, 2008
Williams is a must keep. He can hold the ball and see the field better than anyone on the team. However, Kries will probably protect a few players that shoeld not be protected and that the fans do not want. Like any job some players kiss up to the coaches more than others.

We are finally at a point where we have some people that others (besides Chivas) would want. We have depth. The problem is we might lose a valuable piece.

My predictions in no real order.

Keepers:
Robbie Findley
Fabian Espindola (Int.)
Will Johnson
Javier Morales (Int.)
Kyle Beckerman
Chris Wingert
Ian Joy
Jamilson Olave (Int.)
Robbie Russell
Nat Borchers
David Horst

Gamble:
Nick Rimando

Outside looking in: (I like these players but this is where it is a business)
Kenny Deuchar
Dema Kovalenko
Andy Williams
Clint Mathis
Nathan Sturgis
Kenny Cutler
Tino Nunez
Brennan Tennelle
Kevin Reiman
Dustin Kirby
Kyle Reynish

Protected as GA: (I believe)
Yura Movsisyan
Alex Nimo
Nikolas Besagno
Tony Beltran
Chris Seitz
David Horst? | 8:27 p.m. Nov. 17, 2008
You really think we will protect David Horst? He played 0 minutes in MLS games. I doubt Seattle even knows who he is. Yura will be protected. I think RSL will gamble on Rimando and leave him unprotected. With Keller they won't waste a pick on another goalie.

Their list should be

Morales
Findley
Espindola
Will Johnson
Beckerman
Wingert
Joy
Olave
Russell
Borchers
Movsisyan

They will gamble that Seattle will not want Dema or Williams because of age. (they will probably be correct)

They will not protect Mathis because only someone who is his best friend would take him

The only question is Duechars. Will they protect him? If they don't he will go.
Joy is out.... | 9:26 p.m. Nov. 17, 2008
...don't waste a slot on him.
no mathis plz | 9:39 p.m. Nov. 17, 2008
i know that some people think that mathis brings a lot to the team but i simply disagree.
bummed | 9:40 p.m. Nov. 17, 2008
It just kinda hit me this morning. The season is over no more rsl games.. I am bummed out.
georg | 8:21 a.m. Nov. 18, 2008
I truly think Jason will protect Mathis, his dedication to his friend knows no bounds. How else can you explain the amount of playing time given to him by Kries.
Sturgis if left unprotected (as he should be), will most likely be taken by Seattle. I still believe the good DR. will be in RSL colors next season, his production was not so great this season and therefore he will probably be overlooked and will hopefully score some goals for us next season.
RSL in 09 | 8:24 a.m. Nov. 18, 2008
I believe that Dr. Goals is a keep. He didn't play much, although he should have, and Findley is the same as Espindola. But Fabian is much better and produces more. Findley has a horrendous first touch at times, and Deuchar does so many other things on the field that Findley cannot other than speed. But we got that with Yura. Findley out.

the way i understand it is that seattle can only take one player per team, and since there are more than eleven other teams some teams wont be touched at all, hopefully thats us. some of our players of over payed: besagno doesnt deserve 100k im not sure when his GA status is up but i think he needs to see the door, for a #1 draft pick who has been with the club for a while most people dont even know who he is, dema does a decent job put is payed too much for it. there should be some shuffling around of pay and hopefully open up some space for other players. its great that rsl has a base team that it can build from but we still need to be looking to bring in more talent, itll be interesting to see if we play the DP card this year

Goodbye Olave | 12:00 p.m. Nov. 18, 2008
It was great to have you this season! It is too bad we only had you on loan for one season! Your outstanding play for us this year most assuredly means the team who loaned you to us will see your improvment and dedication and take you back. But that is the way it works...wish you could have you permanately, but that wont happen. You are too good a player for your old team not to want you back!

Thanks again Olave!! It was a joy watching you throw those little forwards on their fat, well, you know whats!!
Bye Olave.... | 8:40 a.m. Nov. 19, 2008
...it was great watching you get worked on that one play, and having them score the winning goal.

You were good, but will be replaced.
