I cant seem to get into these posts. Apparently they refuse to let me in. The strength of my grammar is not sufficient. And one typographical error automatically disqualifies me. Thats okay though. I will wait until basketball season. When everyone has a chance.

My prediction: TCU 67 BYU 7

OK. Help me out here. Who should I root for and why?

Wow BYU... the stakes are high today! It's funny how you can see that the players' attitudes have changed in just a matter of days. I haven't heard one arrogant prediction from the whole clan yet. (Surprising, Coach Mendenhall must have finally put some tape on Collie's mouth). With a win over the horned frogs I'm pretty sure the tape would be ripped off pretty quickly though.
Good luck Cougs, make our state proud. I'd be shaking in my boots right now with what's on the line. I even heard mention of a possible national championship? Haha, yeah right. But it's still cool that these three mountain west teams have performed so well. Hopefully the Cougs can keep up their side of the bargain for November 22nd. I'd hate to see the Quest ended by any other team besides Utah.

Yes, the fans at the Washington game were loud but there were a lot of us cheering for BYU. I sat in front of a couple Husky fans who commented that they had never seem that many fans for an opposing team in Husky stadium before. Let's hope Cougar fans down in Texas do the same!
Eugene | 5:15 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
Crystal ball says . . . BYU 24 TCU 10 . . . TCU gives up its first 100 yard rushing game to Unga . . . Hall throws 23 for 31 for 275 yards and 2 touchdowns with 1 interception . . . Cougar defense collects 1 fumble recovery and 1 interception leading to 14 points by the offense . . . Cougar O-line allows 2 sacks on Hall . . . Pitta re-emerges as the top yard producing receiver of the game catching both of Hall's TD passes . . . Unga runs for 1 TD.
Okay, this was a fun process in futility (like these blogs really mean anything)! In reality, tonight will be a very, very tough game for both teams that should prove very entertaining. No one knows the real outcome, but I will be cheering for the Cougs!!

This is what College Football is all about. Two excellent, skilled teams going at it. I can't hardly wait for the coin toss to see if TCU captains are mature enough this year to actually shake hands with BYU. But after that it will just be an adreneline rush. I look forward to the two Christian schools battling it out year after year. Come on Cougars. Bring it.

Fireside | 6:41 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
I met several players last night at the Fireside in Carrollton. They were all very gracious and enthusiastic. In particular I spoke with Coleby Clawson and he seems like a very bright, likable person.
Coach Mendenhall, please keep doing what you are doing with these young men. I took with me a newly reactivated 18 year old and he was thoroughly impressed with the Fireside.
Thank you!!!

BYU back in the hunt
By John Walters
NBCSports.com
Long before the incarnation of the term BCS Buster, there was BYU. Located in Provo, Utah, at the base of the Wasatch Mountains, situated at the crossroads of gridiron greatness and the Eisenhower era, is the paragon of at-large programs: Brigham Young University.
As the 2008 college football season passes its midpoint, five schools that reside in the non-Bowl Championship Series (BCS) remain undefeated. Your potential 2008 BCS-busters are:
• Tulsa (6-0)
• Ball State (7-0)
• Boise State (5-0)
• Utah (7-0)
The four of them owe royalties, at least figuratively, to BYU. The Cougars, 6-0 and ranked No. 9 in the AP poll heading into Thursday night’s showdown at TCU, were here first. Since the end of World War II, only one school not currently in a BCS conference has won a national championship: BYU. The Cougars finished 13-0 in 1984, culminating in a 24-17 defeat of Michigan in the Holiday Bowl.
Should BYU get past TCU...everyone in the Beehive State will buzz with even more fervor about Nov. 22...How special would that be, two non-BCS unbeatens facing off in each other’s final game of the season?

Nervous going into the game | 7:09 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
I have to admit I'm quite nervous for this one. From what I can tell, a defense that will give BYU problems is one with an athletic secondary who can challenge the receivers and a fast D-Line. TCU has both. Hopefully we see the BYU D stand tall and keep points off the board. This game may be a low-scoring one!

It was a fun ride for BYU while it lasted. End of the road for your BCS hopes this year.
BYU is once again underestimating TCU.
BYU is once again underestimating TCU.
geezer | 7:23 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
Adrenaline is flowing both from TCU and BYU players as well as their fans. Blowout either way? I doubt it, but who'd have predicted the UCLA game. Don't tune in to the Mtn cause the game is on Versus. This game should be college football at its best. There may not be a better game in college football all weekend.
No challenge whatsoever | 7:33 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
This game has already been decided. Enough with the predictions and meaningless blabbing. BYU is more than capable of blowing this team out of their own stadium and I won't be surprised if they win by 3 TD's.
BCS President | 7:35 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
Keep your dreams alive even though I will make sure that you have ZERO chance of playing for a NC. Under my watch that will not happen as I am paid by the BCS conferences. We live by the Golden Rule here at the headquarters of the BCS. He who has the gold, makes the rules. And guess what, that would be ME. So keep on dreamin cause that's all it will ever be!!

Re Prophet--if you're a prophet, i'm satan. even if the Y loses, you really think the margin of victory will be like 60 points. Your type loses all credibility the instant you write stuff like that. There's no doubt either team could walk away with a victory, but anybody that biased can't think rationally--obviously.
Gene | 7:52 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
I recall attending a game a few years ago when a christian school from Utah lined up against a christian school from Texas. (BYU and SMU) The game didn't end until the last whistle was blown, and I can still remember the feelings of elation as the fog settled in preventing a clear view of the after-game activities on the field. How could anyone say that BYU has no chance to win tonight against TCU. They have proven their talents year after year, and now with the masterful skills of Bronco, they will once again prevail. Rise and Shout Cougars...
Collie is great | 7:59 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
It's refreshing to have a player whose not afraid to speak his mind. And then to back up his words with his play. The fact that his opinions irritate Utah fans so often is just an added bonus.

Make Utah proud.
If the refs, once again, make a game changing call in BYU's favor then please contest the call yourselves.
Start earning your wins then let Collie pop off.

Nice first post | 8:04 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
I like the first post on here. I notice there haven't been any Utes give any RATIONAL response yet as to why BYU has no chance (too early in the morning for Utes?). Because they haven't played anybody isn't a reason: TCU only played one somebody and got crushed, so who is to say TCU is a somebody?
Also, who has Utah played that is going to a bowl game this year? Weber State? Can't. Utah State? Not a chance. Michigan? 2-3 at home, including losses to Utah AND 2-4 Toledo. Oregon State? Oregon State might, since they are in Pac 10 play now. Might. So the Utes have played (maybe) one more team than BYU that will go bowling. Wow. Really impressive resume. OK, so why is it that national media folks say there is a chance (an admittedly small, outside chance, but a chance nonetheless) BYU can play for a National Championship but, if they even mention Utah, they say that Utah has no chance?

Max is better than the Oklahoma QB and he chewed up TCU. This should be over by halftime.
RR | 8:08 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
You know, I just thought of something. If TCU wins, they will clearly be the team to compete for the MWC title. To knock off Goliath, while Utah has knocked off no one in the conference, would make TCU the target to hit now. TCU will embarrass a worsening utah offense.
If BYU wins, I can't wait to see what the "BCS President" and other "BCS officials" have to dish out as far as criticism.
To Prophet: Clearly you walk in sheep's clothing, because what fool what predict a TCU blowout when BYU has competed well with TCU and won the last two times? Clearly, only BYU has figured out TCU's defense in the entire MWC. BYU has scored the most points against them and BYU is the only team to handily defeat them.

Big game tonight. It should make good game film for Utah's outings with the War Kittens and Toads in November...hopefully all tough, good, unpredictable games.
Which Michigan team do the War Kitten talk about in the blog? The mediocre team Utah played at the start of the '08 season, or the dreadful Michigan
team the War Kittens beat in '84. The Kittens are the reason the BCS exists.
I think it serves Utah's purposes better for the WK to lose tonight. The BCS rankings start on Sunday. Utah will be at, or inside the top 10.
Their proximity to the top will be crucial, as the SEC and Big 12 start to dismantle each other. Position will be everything.
What a great year for college football.
Sorry War Kittens, I will have to cheer for the Toads tonight.
Just keep drinking the Blue Cool-Aid.
11/22 wil be all red, or maybe black....we'll have to see.
Toads 24
War Kittens 17

BYU Fan in Texas | 8:32 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
I was at the game at TCU in 2006. I don't know if Coach Patterson will get his, rowdy, loud, and purple-clad crowd or not. The last time the Cougars came to town, it was like a BYU home game at Amon Carter Stadium. There were definitely more TCU fans, but we BYU fans were much louder. Hopefully it will be the same tonight. I'm excited to see some BYU football!! Go Cougars!!!
Unga | 8:33 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
He is the key to the game, if Harvey can get anywhere near 100 yards the cougars roll! BYU 24 TCU 17 GO Cougars!!!
Anonymous | 8:43 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
I'm rooting for the Utes to continue winning until November 22nd--the Day of Utah's Holy War, and I've been impressed with all of the Utes who have shown a lot of class in verbally supporting the BYU football program this season. Of course we all understand that the higher BYU is ranked when we play Utah, the better it bodes for Utah's chances at a BCS bowl if they were to beat us. For me, the two big games this season are tonights at TCU and against Utah on Nov 22.
Still Red in PA | 8:47 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
I hope the cougars win tonight. I'm not impressed with Dalton. This will be a defensive battle and turnovers (probably a score) created either defense will be the difference. This will be epic!!! I love this type of game

Wow y'all should get your own 1-900 number the way you predict BYU will lose the game. I am pretty sure that is why they play the game. TCU is a good team. But Oklahoma haas proven a Great Offense can beat the NUMBER 1 defense in college football. Granted BYU in no Oklahoma. But they are far better than anyother team TCU has faced. Plus what Mtn West fan doesn't want unbeaten BYU and unbeaten Utah to play for the BCS birth.....except a Utah fan that is scared they can't come through in the end. Your right Utah Fans root for TCU you might be able to beat them it is your only chance for a Conferance Chapionship
Go Cougs - From a Ute | 8:57 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
I would love nothing more than for BYU to win at TCU this evening. Being a Ute fan, I usually can't see myself routing for the Y. But this year, if both teams remain undefeated, the value of my 2 season tickets will soar and will have no problem selling off my tickets to some obnoxious BYU fan for thousands of dollars.....with the stock market like it is...my most apprciating asset that I own are those 2 tickets, assuming BYU doesn't mess it up and lose!!! Go Cougs, make me some money tonight!!!
re: Vegas Ute | 8:59 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
This may be a little to hard for you to grasp, but the Michigan team that most people would be talking about today would be Michigan's current team, the one that lost at home to a 1-4 MAC team recently.
UNGA | 8:59 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
Is Unga playing tonight? I heard he got suspended for playing Flag Football on a Pop Warner League. Thus making himself inelgible due to too many games played. Tell me it's not true.......
hate | 9:04 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
I hate people who want either BYU or Utah to lose this far into the season, do you understand that if your both undefeated, it will be the greatest non-BCS game ever. If both teams haven't lost yet, lets keep cheering that one of them won't lose until the very last game of the season, the Holy War.
Sick of stupid posts | 9:09 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
I wish the Ute fans could understand that a win for BYU is a win for Utah, that being said, if BYU drops this game tonight, it is not going to be nearly as impressive if the Utes win the "holy war". Even if Utah does go undefeated and they play a sub top-10 team on nov. 22 their BCS hopes will be dashed because there are too many one loss teams out there that will beat a Utah team out of the BCS bowls. But if both teams are undefeated then both have the potential to be top 10 teams by that last game and that will look very good to the BCS committee. You don't have to be a BYU fan to hope they win, but any Ute fan with any sense will hope that they win and come into Nov. 22 undefeated as well.
re: Dug | 9:11 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
Are you still beating the tom tom that Utah actually won the 2006 and 2007 Utah/BYU games, except for blown calls by the refs?
Only losers continue blaming refs for losses they attribute to missed calls.
Only whiney, jealous losers continue blaming refs for giving their rivals wins they claim they didn't earn.
Get over it.

I haven't been able to make sense out of either of those arguments. First, every SOS that I have looked at has Utah with an SOS in the 70's, which stands to get worse (or at least stay the same) this weekend.
Second, how could BYU not have a chance? They have beaten TCU two years in a row, both on Thursday nights. BYU is ranked higher. The oddsmakers have them as the favorite. Their offense has struggled a bit the past two games, but I'd rather have a struggling offense than a bad offense, since a struggling offense can get their act together. They have the number two scoring defense in the country. I don't understand how they have NO chance, could some Ute please explain it to me? I agree is not a gimme game, and they may not win it, but to say they can't win it...ridiculous. The score starts 0-0, all you have to do is score more than your opponent, anyone has a chance.
