I'm still curious (I've asked the same thing for years). How is it that the Deseret News and the SL Trib have the same stories on the Jazz every day? Seriously! Unless, there was some collusion, it would be impossible for the trib and the DNews to have a story on the 'excitment' of the Jazz about Korver on the exact same day. This happens again and again and again. Don't let anybody tell you that we have two competing papers in Utah. These guys talk to each other, and agree to write the same stories so as not to tread on each others turf, and it happens two to three times a week. If you doubt it, get RSS feeds for the trib and DNews this Jazz season, you'll see...

Lets just hope he carries this sharp shooting 13 pts a game to the regular season and I really hope he gets invited to the 3 point shootout at the all-star game.

Hey, Leroy, don'tcha think maybe both beat writers were at the same practice? The whole article was based on D-Will's comments. Doubt the beat writers can get an exclusive.
That's probably the case for most of the "duplicate" articles.

I'm glad kyle has basketball to make a living, because he's sure one ugly guy. :)

To Brentlabeau: You're wrong on that one!

Korver's defense, probably because there's so little of it to write about. The Jazz will have no problems scoring, but defense wins championships; Korver = liability.

Korver just need to slow down on his three point shots, guy shooting it so quick. and he gotta make them when he open and crucial part of game 2.

I would like to personally thank Kyle for getting my wife interested in the Jazz! It doesn't matter why she's interested, it only matters that we now share quality time watching the Jazz, each for our own reasons!
Effort Counts | 10:37 a.m. Oct. 15, 2008
Hey you peeps that think Korvers defense is so bad, why don't you watch the game real close the next few games. The guy gives every thing he has, hustle and effort. If only everyone on the team did that we would be a much better defensive team. I do realize that some match ups are tough for him, but that is true every night with certain teams, and other players. That is what makes this league so intriguing. Also that is what makes me so excited about this years team, is it's player depth to combat these nightly match ups.

Hey it wasn't Giri va Kover trade. It was Giri ve kover+1st round pick. I hope Kover's D improve. Then it was steal.

The Jazz's record before acquiring Korver, and their record following the trade should say enough about what he can do for this team. He provides a legit perimeter shooter that teams have to respect. Dwill, and Okur also shoot well but it was Korver who finally started stretching defenses and opening up the middle for Booz to work. Having a reliable free throw shooter at the end of games is kinda nice also.

Korver is gonna be awesome this year. When he first came to the Jazz he just hit open three's... as the season progressed he started hitting a few shots off of screens (the shots the offense created for him) and people started paying more attention to him behind the arc.
Now that he's familiar with the offense... other teams better watch out! I expect him to be the most improved player on the team! Miles will be a close second.

I'll take a god given talent and lots of heart over lots of god given talent and no heart EVERY time when it comes to defense......Go Korver
LeRoy...What is your point | 12:25 p.m. Oct. 15, 2008
LeRoy, SO WHAT! Get a life. The fact that you spend all of your time checking on who is doing what story is a sad statement about "you". Did you like the story or not?

I am guessing that Kyle is going to put more weight in the comment zoo mom made than beau! I am trying to remember the hype last year about Utah women and Kyle. What was it? Oh yeah, that they LOVE him.
Sorry Beau. You obviously don't know what the ladies find attractive in a man. His smile alone woos them. His shyness doesn't hurt him with them either. Now you might be able to make sense out of why the ladies don't find you as attractive as "you" do.

My two cents worth | 12:45 p.m. Oct. 15, 2008
Personally, I think there's an irrational love for Kyle Korver. Don't get me wrong, I think he's absolutely a terrific addition to the team but he's not the savior just because he's "Adonis". Now on the lighter side, isn't it a little weird to see a guy wearing a Korver jersey?

I would like to vote for Memo for president, but he is from Turkey and not an American citizen. I would have loved to have been the campaign manager for Hornacek because I really thought he should have been the president in the mid to late 90s. Since Horny has moved on to coaching and Memo is disqualified because of his citizenship, then I agree with the comment at 11:07 AM: "KORVER FOR PRESIDENT!"

Everything changed when Mr Korver arrived last year. Whatever happened, is arrival coincided with a turnaround. The Jazz were in a losing habit right at the trade. After that they went on a winning tear. Of course there is that chance that it might have happened anyway. But comparing the numbers, every win seemed to have an extra push in it next to his name. I cannot help believe he was the last piece of glue that changed the game and made the Jazz a better team. Let's be honest. From the worst to the best, nearly all teams in the NBA are close enough to beat each other on any night.
Korver added just enough to alter many close games in to Jazz wins. Facts are facts. This young man has made a difference. I hope he is happy here and at home for a long time. And the off season work? The difference between a winner and loser anyway. This player is a winner and will only become more so. Nice to have you here, hope you stay and go where I believe you are headed. This IS a potential all star for sure.

I think Korver gets a raw deal from alot of people on the defensive side of things.
Good defense, championship defense, is not about wether or not every individual on the court can keep their man away from the basket, it's about how well the team as a whole defends. Don't get me wrong, you need a coupld of so called stoppers who can match up one on one with people, but more importantly you need to have five guys commited to everything they can to make the other team take tough shots and rebound the misses. Korver is one of those guys that has that commitment. Almond doesn't have it, CJ is working on it, last year Boozer didn't have it. The problem is that when one guy isn't commited nobody else can be their best, theres a synergy that happens when it's done right.
Just look at Boston last year, Ray Allen and Paul Peirce are not exacly defensive powerhouses. But the team bought into the team defense mentality and (with the help of one of the best interior defenders in the game) they became part of arguably the best defensive team in the history of basketball.

Korver had a chance at taking a big three to end
last years playoffs with the Lakers! Guess what he
did with the ball! He passed the ball instead of
taking the 3. He shoots that shot and makes it the
Jazz would of still been in the playoffs. AT that
moment I said to myself? This is not the guy, a
the Jazz got him to make that shot...and he didnt
even take it...what does that tell you about Korver

Better and better every year in college and in Tthe NBA as well. A joy to watch play ball

Korver adds a different facet to the Jazz game that Giri only wished he could. Seems like a likeable, hard working player that fits into the SLC community. Over 60% trey average in the pre-season and leading the team in scoring? Come on, when was the last time one of the Jazz' non-superstars did that?
BJ Jazzy Rasta | 10:52 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
Gira blew. Best trade in Jazz history... because he will hit some big-time threes and free-throws this season that will get the Jazz to 60 WINS. When the playoffs come this time around, he'll be much more comfortable and will take the big shots and make them! The key also will be AK47 coming off the bench with a good attitude and Korver doing his thing. Take that combined with a solid team-effort on defense, and our Jazz should make the finals THIS YEAR!
Go Jazz!
Go Jazz!
No Defense | 10:59 a.m. Oct. 16, 2008
Korver can't shoot when he is guarded and he doesn't play defense. He is better than Gordon but probably should be playing somewhere in Europe where those things aren't a problem.
But he is cute, I guess.

Before we start knocking Korvers defense we should all make fun of Boozers defense. You want to talk liability! If he gets beat on his feet (which are not that quick) he just hacks (which was evident in last years playoffs when he sat the bench so much because of foul trouble). At least Korver tries to stay in front of his man, and HUSTLES! Booz just stands and hacks. Trade Booz for Odom. Thats the trade i want to see!
NOOOO | 4:42 p.m. Oct. 16, 2008
NO ODOM! No to Odom! He's a huge choker.
Davis | 4:46 p.m. Oct. 16, 2008
People don't understand the defense that Korver plays. When I was at the games the people around me were complaining when he got beat. They didn't realize that he was playing within a "team" defensive philosophy. They didn't realize that Sloan had him cheating off on post players. He's a smart defender and Sloan had him drop down to prevent shots on the inside. Sometimes the interior player would kick the ball out for an open shot. If the shooter made the shot, then it "looked" like Korver got beat, when in reality that's the shot the Jazz would live with.
Another thing, with his one on one defense, sure, he doesn't have the athletic ability to keep everyone in front of him, but with good/better defenders behind him that's acceptable. The problem is that the Jazz have zero defensive presense on the inside and when just about anyone gets beat on the perimeter the other team scores easily. Korver is by no means a great one on one defender, but he's a very good team defender. So get the TEAM together for the team defense!

Korver plays his heart out. That alone makes me like him. I enjoy the energy he brings on defense.

Look for the changes in his game this year. He is take more shots in closer and has taken dribble and shoot shots. I don't remember him doing this last year. One of the first things I noticed about him last year was his hustle, I still like it. He and the whole team seem to have improved their game. I think a 60 game winning season is possible tis year.
Natalie | 11:49 a.m. Oct. 18, 2008
I think Korver is definately an asset to the Jazz. To me he is the best player that comes off the bench.
