Those little birds deserve a good home. Birds are the greatest animals in the world and the only ones besides bats that can fly. They have something over all the rest of the animal kingdom. They are also smarter than most other animals.

I won't give another cent to the Aviary. I used to be one of its biggest advocates, but no more. They pulled the plug on a wild bird rehab program that cost them next to nothing given the fact that the work was done by volunteer rehabbers. Then they lied to the public, blaming the lack of rehab on the women who used to volunteer to do it. Those women spent their own money and countless hours caring for the birds, have made the aviary look good for over ten years, and asked for nothing in return except for the opportunity to continue helping wild birds. Shame on the aviary for making it seem like the rehab program was ended because of those volunteers or because of lack of funding. Lies! It is Salt Lake County's injured and orphaned birds that now pay the price for the aviary's poor management and disgraceful decision. The aviary doesn't deserve taxpayer money - just ask the concerned citizens who have called the aviary recently to complain about the lack of rehab only to be told that their complaint doesn't matter because "we don't need your money."

Utah Mommy has told the truth about how the Aviary behaves. They are not the organization to support if you are truly a fan of birds. If this anonymous donor wanted to help birds, then a close investigation would have proven the money was poorly spent. In this season of political spin, the public should vote knowing that Tracy Aviary is THE reason there is no help for wild birds in Salt Lake.
