i know harp is tough, and works hard, but i think his time in the NBA has passed. He's old, he's always injured, he just comes in and fouls people, with the occasional shot falling.
Lets get that next generation started by working CJ into the lineup, and i really like the idea of bringing AK off the bench, if his ego can handle it

Don't forget he's a stockbroker, you would be sick
right now too.

Yea it's time for Matt to hang it up. Heck it was time for him to hang it up since stockton retire. Let CJ mile take his minutes and it's time for new generations of Jazz players to take it to another level.

It's not time for Harpring to "hang it up." The guy has the body and tenacity to piss off some key players (Ron Artest and Carmelo Anthony to name a couple). I'm all about developing CJ and starting AK on the bench, but I think Harpring brings some things to the table that none of the other players do. He's also not an offensive hindrance. I doubt Coach Sloan is going to let Harpring go unused anyway. I admit that it might be difficult to give Harpring the same amount of scripted minutes this year. I'm hoping the Jazz can work it out.

Harpring still has 2 years left on his contract. This year for 6 mil and next year at 6 1/2 mil. He's not going to retire making that kind of money, and who would? He will contribute down to the finish of this season off the bench and will be good for team moral. When a team signs these players to these long contracts it is impossible to tell how their health will be that far in the future. After all it's only preseason games he's missing. Veterans don't need the playing time like rookies and young players anyway. He'll be fine and it will work out. Let C.J. play the minutes now and at the the start of the season and if he doesn't cut it Harp will when he's physically ready. I'm not sold on C.J. anyway.

So far CJ is not even close to replacing Harp. Harp is hated by the Rockets and for good reason. He is a very valuable part of the Jazz and makes a great effort. As long as he gets the right minutes he will continue to be valuable. He disrupts the other teams offense and does contribute points. He may be a little slower but he is also a lot smarter.
