It was nice to see the West Jordan Players still playing hard all the way until the final whistle last night because they have heart and pride but something needs to be done over there. Not being able to field a JV team for two years straight now is really frustrating for being a 5A school and its not because they don't have the athletes, its because the students simply just don't want to have to do things all year long. I will always support the Jags no matter what but something needs to be done. GO JAGS!!!

After a great start the Jags have been exposed as just another team for homecomming fodded...oh wait it was the jags homecomming. Don't you know that you are suppose to schedule a crummy team for homecoming! Didn't coach Morgan learn anything from his pre-season scheduling. Way to ruin homecoming.
I think {along with most Jag fans} that it is a long time overdue for a new football coach in WJ.
There has been no progress made with "Jagball" in the last ten years! Coach Morgan has not proven any thing as a head coach. Maybe they can make a package deal with the baseball coach and just START OVER!
There are too many great athletes at WJ who will not play for coach morgan. The price in dollars cuts out alot of kids, and the schemes that are run on offence are to boring to attract the top athletes in the school.
It is time for a change!

Great Job, last night hunter. Now lets go into Bingham with alot of confidence, and show the miners how the wolverines really play. We can do it and i know it. We beat bingham, we can do anything.

The passion that the players have for the game starts at the top. Change the coach and you will get a different out look by the players. Wait too much longer and you may not have a program at all.

Nice Win Hunter..Took care of the ball and the points happen. Lets take nothing but confidence into Wednesdays game. Hunter football hasnt been played against Bingham for a long time. Bingham can and has been beaten. Play your game Hunter and great things will happen. Good Luck!!!

If none of you have seen the Bingham hunter games the past 4 years it hasnt even been close. and you beat WJ 20-0. Bingham killed them and they pulled there starters in the 3rd. good luck hunter you'll need it!

"Not going to happen"- Yes, I've been to three of the four Bingham/Hunter games in the last four years. I missed the '04 game because of an important event. They've been blowouts, true. But that was then, this is now. We might get another big win this year against Hunter but we CAN'T take it for granted or celebrate a win until AFTER the game. Hunter has a good, hard-hitting team. Let's be realistic here. Bingham only beat West Jordan by one point more than Hunter and didn't get the shutout.
West Jordan fans, if any of you is a good athlete and you want your team to be better, GET OUT THERE AND PLAY! Your school needs you! Region 3 needs more parity!

come on over to brighton coach morgan. you're an alumni who knows what brighton football is supposed to be about. We have kids who are willing to work hard but just need new leadership. we'll gladly make a trade.

Hunter's offense didn't click on all cylinders, but it did enough to help the team win the game.
"You can't complain when you get wins,' Pearce said. "They're so hard to come by, especially in this region. It's competitive. It's a very well-coached region, in my opinion. It is what it is.'

"What has happened", You have no idea what you are talking about. The two seasons before Coach Morgan started at WJ were losing seasons. In fact they hadn't been winning for a long time. Morgans first two years at WJ both teams went 7-3, and in 2005 they made it to the semi-finals of the playoffs. Something West Jordan had only ever done one other time in school history and that was back in the late 80's early 90's. The pool of talent has been growing smaller and smaller every year and its not because kids don't want to play for Morgan, its because there aren't the numbers PERIOD. With the way West Jordan has been growing the Jordan Schoold district finally realized this and enlarged WJ's boudaries so that they have a larger pool to draw from. And WJ has a larger sophmore team with lots of young potential. They will be returning almost their whole offensive line next year. Trust me "JAGBALL" is alive and well in WJ and we are happy to have Mike Morgan as our Head Coach!!

WIth the new coach at Hunter this year, you cannot believe the improvements. They could have went all season without a win and still have been ahead. Coach Pearce has demanded respect and "accountability".....and is getting it. Some times change is good....I just wish he would see ALL the talent he has and make some adjustments instead of making the same mistakes over and over. But that will come with time. There is a lot of talent on the Hunter sideline....let's let them ALL excel not just a small few.

"ACCOUNTABILITY!!!" Coach Pearce has taken Hunter to a new level! our team looks so much better than it has in years!!! you can tell just by looking at them, and everyone knows that. they have a lot of talent and it's starting to show on the field. now if we could only do it EVERY game, and not just the selected few...

There are plenty of ahtletes at West Jordan High School to be at least competetive with the better teams in the state. Too many of them are completely turned off by the fact that they need to be doing football things all year long other than like three weeks. Not being able to field a JV team two years in a row shows that and it's not because of depleted numbers of students just look at 4A teams. I have spoken to numerous athletes at WJ and asked them why they don't play and all their responses have been the same, IT'S TOO TIME CONSUMING!!!

Morgan has a history of winning seasons at West Jordan, but there have really only been a couple of teams in those years who have stood out and I'm actually not talking about the team that went to Semi-finals in '05. The '05 team had some great athletes, but they didn't have the heart (leadership) to go far in the playoffs and were lucky to get to the semis.
I've predicted before a 6-4 season for West Jordan and out in the first round of the playoffs, but I'm not sure they even have the heart to go 6-4. I'm now starting to think they may go winless in region and not make the playoffs at all.
The problem for these programs starts in the little league. Look at Bingham and Alta's little league programs and you'll see why they should be able to maintain top programs for years to come. Same thing with Riverton. West Jordan's little league appears to have had it's day in the sun and is sharply on the decline. That makes it tough for High School coaches when they have to start from scratch.

West Jordan does a great job in their football program building athletes. They do a really crummy job building teams.

I completely agree with Another Jag Fan. Go to the little league games. See how many athletes are playing at that level. Compare that with Bingham. IS it Coach Morgan's fault that the little league numbers for West Jordan are so small? Is he scaring away those players? No. And if someone doesn't want to play for Coach Morgan, it's because they are lazy. He demands a lot of his players and that turns off a lot of people.

When I read your comment about the 05 year 2 things came to mind, one your bitter about that team, and the other, you really have no idea what you are talking about. All that team had was heart and leadership. That group played together for years and trusted eachother better than any other team I've seen. There center was the smallest guy on the field, but that didn't stop there offense from having 2 1,000+ yard rushers who combined for almost 50 touchdowns did it.
Yeah there little league is on the decline because everyone knows what comes after little league... High school. And everyone would rather go to programs with winning traditions. WJ may have winning seasons but they can't make it past the first round (with the exeption of 05). Every kid wants to play football for a state championship. Not going to happen at WJ under Mike Morgan.
