PG. The running game really showed up tonight. Hopefully Joey will be 100% after tweeking his knee in the 4th quarter and who knows, we might see a little bit of Jake Horsley next week? Im proud of PG's # 28. He is a little guy, but held his own against one of the best Tight Ends in the country in Wilson. Great playing kid

DONS if you want to compete against top teams, you need to utilize your whole offense. Stop playing two man football.

Great game PG you are a very good team. We had no answer for your running game. SF finish out the season tough. Breck Lewis and Richard Wilson you were fantastic. SF had nothing in the first half. Horrible play calling the first half and no defense all game. Great job in the second half.
SF | 12:27 p.m. Oct. 11, 2008
I agree with football fan. Although Lewis and Wilson are incredible athletes, the offense could use some diffrent play calling. 90% of the plays were either a deep bomb to Wilson or a QB keeper by Lewis. It worked pretty well in the second half but teams will look at the film and then adjust to those two key players. Give the ball to #2 more. I was impressed with his speed.

FOOTBALL FAN, You are so right. I have watched a few spanish fork games. That #80 has the best hands I have ever seen. Lewis is a great QB, he should throw the ball his way more often.

If Lewis can run for 150 yards and pass for 300 like he did he must be doing something right. I dont understand why it takes us 2 quarters every game to figure things out, but when the coaches do the O looks great. Defense looked like week 1 and 2 again. Dont you guys watch film? Why are you all over the place the first half and then so good in the second? I still think we are a dangerous team. Look out Lehi and LP. Great job PG , you guys play solid football. Both teams provided a great game to watch!

I love it when family members of players get on these boards and try to tell everyone how good their kid or grandkid is. Wht don't you guys check your egos and be thankful your kid is even playing. How many seniors on the team rarely get into a game and you guys are worried that your kid doesn't get to be the glory hog. Boo Hoo. How about the parents of the senior kids who were replaced by the super sophs (#24 & #32 and extremely un super in my opinion, especially on defense) that have to sit and watch their kid on the sideline the whole game? They would be happy if their kid played just a few minutes and you're complaining that your kid plays every offensive play but doesn't get the ball enough? WOW! Once again, leave the ego at home and appreciate what you have.
Look Around | 10:16 a.m. Oct. 13, 2008
I agree with Player Scout, # 80 not only has great hands but the guy is a monster, he towers over anyone defending him. Lewis is great at finding Wilson but needs to look other places as well.. If Lewis had looked for other players the score might have been closer then it was. Good luck on Wednesday Spanish I hope you get the win.

It was a great game. PG dominated most of the first half with their play. The second half was light for us, but Spanish did a great job of not giving up and coming back. Their QB has to be one of the best in the state; he actually threw the ball to his receivers. Other teams we played (Lone Peak, Copper Hills, Riverton, even Timpview) couldn't throw the ball worth snot. Way to go Spanish, you'll do great the rest of the season.

I agree with ya Family fun. JM has quite the booster club here. I'm sorry he isn't the man this year, maybe next year if #5 and #24 don't steal his thunder. SF will need to look under a rock to find a new QB. There doesn't seem to be a good one in the program right now.

to relax a little bit, because I am sure you are embarassing the Mattinson kid.

I have been sitting here all day wondering if I should comment about everyones little digs at Jordunn knowing that people will probably rip my comments apart like they do everyones else but I have decided to say something. Do you honestly think we would comment on our own kid after reading week to week how people pick apart one player to the next? Almost every player and players parents read the comments after each game. What parent would want their kid to be picked apart and made to feel bad? Kids have a hard enough time dealing with everything around them they don't need their parents adding to it.
To family fun I am sorry if your kid is one of the kids sitting on the side lines because a sophomore has taken his place. It is not fair and I can't imagine how frustrating it must be for you as well as your son.
To SF fan not a parent Jordunn does have quite the booster club we are at every game cheering him on but ALL of us are smart enough not to comment about what he does or doesn't do on a page like this.

I agree with football fan and SF, and take issue with Anonymous. Who cares if the QB can run for 150 yards and pass for another 300 if the trade off is the TEAM racking up 300 rushing and 400 passing AND getting the WIN?! If we're ever going to truly COMPETE against QUALITY opponents (does not include Payson, Timpanogos, or Brighton), we need to distribute the ball, spread defenses out, and utilize the whole offense. Maybe it's just me, but more often than not when I see a short gain up the middle there's an open pitch man (option) on the corner. When there's a pushoff and offensive PI penalty, there's usually an open reciever across the middle somewhere. My thoughts... take the "option" out of the run game and run some actual running plays. Do some quick hitters off the outside and take pressure off the middle. Give qb time so he doesnt decide where to throw before the snap. Throw across the middle once in a while. Keep the chains moving vs going for highlight film. Thump Lehi and get a QUALITY win vs. Lone Peak! Then I'm happy!

#24 causght several passes including a TD
#5 caught several passes including a TD
#2, who has run for 100 + yards in the last 3 games had 7 receptions
Wilson was not the only one in on the action. THe middle was open and the coaches, and Breck took advantage of it, their most athletic player was on Jordan and Wilson had a mismatch all night, so they took advantage of it. Do you really believe that if Mattison, and the others caught 2 or 3 more passes instead of Lewis that SF would have won. News flash...PG punted one time. It was the Defense not the offense. Yes it could of been better, but that's the case for every losing team. PG played two man football, #5 and #22 and it worked. Easy on the kids and the coaches. They lost, they have lost to 4 teams this year who have a combined record of 27 wins and 5 losses this year. Yes, Jordan Mattison should get some more balls thrown his way, but take what they give you, and SF did. 500 yards of offense and you complain. Make soem stops on D and they win.

I guess it is easy for us all to be coaches from the side lines. But what is really SAD! is that we as adults are willing to be so petty don't you think these boys read these coments? They go to practice everyday and bust there butts and those boys that are playing as starters they are playing those positions for a reason! Sure every parent just wants the best for there kids and thinks there kid should be playing! But can't we focus on the positive! #80 is an AWESOME Player that could be utilized more and he earned his position, but thats my opinion and there is a lot of talent on this team both OF and DF that I believe is not being used, thats my side line coaching again, sorry! But if you do watch #80 he is very poitive and tries to keep the team focused and pumped and is suportive of all his team mates! I don't believe this is what he would want at ALL! They Are A TEAM They WIN As A Team And They LOSE As A Team At The End Of The GAME!!

Absolutely clueless. Take away 14 points their defense scored for them in the crucial 2nd quarter and if we go down and score on even one of those stalled drives, we go into the half up 15-14. I'm not a Mattinson. I'm not saying who the ball should go to. I am saying that 90% of the time we either pass or QB calls his own number (the very definition of unbalanced and predictable). The discussion, apparently lost on some, is that the difference between competing or not competing is that we have a host of outstanding athletes, including Lewis and Wilson, but a team firing on 2 of 8 cylinders with an occasional spark out of a 3rd falls far below potential. So if I understand you correctly, another .500 season, one and out in the playoffs, and continuing the long and storied tradition of sub-par SF football is just peachy and darn well good enough to suit you. I kinda had higher hopes for my son's senior season.

Hey SF....we at PG have a great team. We hope we make a run and capture a State Championship. We will have to be on top of our game; and our Coaches are great and will get the kids ready to play. But dont beat yourself up over the loss to us.
You guys have a good team. Dont over analyze things. You will give a lot of teams trouble. We were the #1 ranked Defense in the State and you have done what others havent been able to do all year-find the end zone and move the ball on us.
It is now time to represent the Region and take some names at State. LP is physical-you will have to have your D play physical or they will jam it down your throat. They run hard and are fast up front with thier D line.
You can do things on O that many cant do. Tighten up the D and you will beat a lot of people. Lets represent the Region and someone bring home a State Championship! Its a new season in 2 weeks!

I agree there is a lot of talent at the skill positions os this team, and I know they are trying to get the ball into everyones hands, especially #80. I bet you will see that this next game. The fact of the matter is that losing so many players ot Salem has made the depth on this team a little thin, sorry parents, but thats the facts, but other than 5 or 6 players who complain (this is the case on every team in the world) and their parents who fuel it, the rest of this team is very tight, very focused and very optimistic. They know they didn't play sharp in the first half against all four of their losses. Had they done so they would have had a chance in the 4th quarter vs Alta, would have beat Hunter, and I think would have had real shot vs PG. Timpview killed us, but common, Alta, Timpview and PG...8 and 0, 8 and 0, and 7 and 1. I am not a parent, but a fan, and I ask that the parents stop complaining and support the kids and the coaches. They are all doing great.
Get a Clue | 2:09 p.m. Oct. 14, 2008
It's not about spreading the ball to to every kid who's daddy or mommy's ego needs a strokin. They're all great kids and truly, the ones who really deserve the pat on the back are the boys down in the trenches who didn't sign up for the glory spots. No, it's about making an opponent prepare to defend more than two or three guys and finding a way to win. If a guy can't make a philosophical comment without it be construed as a personal attack then maybe some parents ought to wean their boys over to the bah bah or solid foods and get some psychological help.
AF | 3:03 p.m. Oct. 14, 2008
To Get a clue its not about strokin any parents ego and the coaches arent worried about strokin parents egos! I don't believe but if they do want to WIN games it is about spreading the ball around! We are to easy to read as it is!!!

I didn't mean any harm in my post. JM is a great athlete. But on this team Wilson is the go to guy and everyone else gets the scraps. Next year will be different if they can find someone to throw the ball. I know everyone wants the best for their son, grandson, brother, nephew, friend.
PG DAD agree with Clueless | 11:17 a.m. Oct. 15, 2008
So the 34 points in the last 3 games isn't enough for SF fans, 500 yards of offense against a very good defense is no tenough. If i read the last to blogs correctly the problem is the offense because a couple guys did not get a lot of passes the last 2 games. All the other Rb's and Receivers have had catches and scored TD's against PG, but because the best QB and TE in the state play on SF's team, and they get the ball a little more than the others SF does not know how to WIN? What? I am a PG parent and Clueless is right on. Your defense is the problem. Your Offense is terrific and I saw guys all over the place getting touches. #5, #2, #24, #32. Relax SF parents and be grateful for what you have, and that's the best offense in the region and one of the best in the state.
