It was an interesting game to watch. So much action-both ways. Give East the credit they deserve. They never gave up and kept on playing, especially in the third quarter when East really came on strong and made a game of it. I wondered if Cottonwood had forgot there was a third quarter and figured their lead was sufficient to win. They returned for the fourth quarter. Congratulations to the Colts and their coaches for a good overall game. I have never seen a High School runner like Isi. He is fantastic and the advantage to watching him on TV is we get to see it over and over and wonder how he can get through some of the tackles.

WE WILL BEAT TIMPVIEW SO WE'RE NOT SCARED OF ANY BIRDS HOVERING OVER US. THIS IS A NEW YEAR WITH DIFFERENT TEAM. TIMPVIEW HASN'T SEEN ANYONE LIKE US. COTTONWOOD HAS THE MOST TALENT IN THE STATE AND ARE THE BEST IN STATE INCLUDING 5A.

ok cottonwood its ok to support your team but don't be unrealistic in saying cwood is the best team in the state. Yes they are good but its the fans like you that everybody around the state gets annoyed with.
To Anonymous at 10:16 a.m. cwood will never hear the end of "recruitment". It isn't a valid argument anymore. Blame open-enrollment not a hard working program. We have respect from the people who aren't so narrow-minded.
Give props to both teams, East started moving the ball at will in the 3rd quarter, i had thoughts about leaving at half time but im glad i stayed and saw east show signs of life.
I respect east they have done much better than they were expected to this year. They are good on both sides of the ball. I hope they do well in the playoffs.

To smileygramps, yeah Cottonwood cameout flat in the Third, but East came out flat in the first and second.
To Anon, bitter grapes, it seems East has some players from the West boundaries, and if it's not legal, then whats good for the goose...
My rankings would go:
Cottonwood
Timpview
Alta
Layton
Bingham

re: haha | 4:25 p.m. Oct. 11, 2008
the last 2 times that Timpview has played Cottonwood it was AT Timpview.
2 years ago that was a marginal 3rd place team.
Last year lots of talent but lots of distarctions and a terrible coin flip for a 3rd place finish
This year the only place we can meet is a Rice Eccles. we will both spend 2 games at home and 2 at the RES to FINALLY make one of the most anticipated matchups happen on level ground.
See you on November 21st Birds
ps It might be fun to have a Layton PG game after us don't you think?

East has no defense. There offense is the only thing that has won them games.

re: re: haha
Cottonwood, you haven't won any state titles, we've demolished you the past 2 years, en route to back to back titles, most of our dbs have d-1 offers, most of our linemen have d-1 offers, in fact, most of our team has d-1 offers, we're undefeated, we have arguably the best coaching in the state, we are undefeated this year, and unlike you, we actually know how to finish a season undefeated, most of the media refer to us as Timpview U.
Oh and, did I fail to mention that we demolished you the past 2 years?
Oh and did I fail to mention that we've seen you play, and frankly, we're quite unimpressed by what we've seen.
Can you say, back to back to back?

Here we go, Region 6, bragging and boasting again, about how they're going to smash everyone!
Prove it, Region 6, prove it, talk is cheap!
Region 5, 7, and 9, smoked you guys last year, look for the same this year, and yes, that includes you, Cottonwood!

were not afraid of timpview. we will crush them this year cauz we have more talent and heart we want it this year more than anyone. also were not going to play on their home field so no extra advantage. will be able to show them who the state champions are this year. timpview isn't as good this year as last year. also we have more d1 than you this year
COTTONWOOD | 7:49 p.m. Oct. 11, 2008
GO C-WOOD, IGNORE THE HATERSZ.. GET BEETTER EVERYWEEK AND YOU WOULD BE SEEING YOURSELF AS CHAMPS. THIS IS THE TEAM THAT MIGHT TAKE IT THIS YEAR FOR 4-A. IMPRESSED

Keep on Talking pony fans. It reminds me of the same talk last year and the year before.
Yeah, Timpview's not as good this year you say (Whatever!)..
But, the ponies are awesome, you say (Whatever!).
Totally different players from last year?(Whatever!) Romero, Soefele, MArtinez, yeah, you're right. They weren't there last year. Totally different.
See how ridiculous you sound?
What did you have last year? 15 yards total rushing offense against the Birds? Oh yeah, Soefele wasn't there. Sorry. I forgot.

I will grant you Colt fans that the TV "O" is not quite as good as last year (still pretty good though). And they can score fast. Don't look past them.
It's just that ridiculous defense that TV seems to put together every year. Have you ever heard that DEFENSES win games? Look on the stats to see the average points the D allows. It should be ZERO however, Coach Wong puts in the reserves. And the reserves usually allow points. So the average is like 7 points per game or something.
Also, it kinda gets in the receivers heads when they know they've got to go out where Badger and Bills roam in the secondary. I mean who likes to get knocked out when they try to catch a ball? Or crushed if they happen to get past the LBs? Your RBs will try to go outside but TV LBs and D Ends are too quick. So, they'll try to go up the middle. But then there isn't anywhere to go there either. Because the LBs and those dreaded hitmen, er..., I mean safeties will be there as well.
It'll be a good game though. No Doubt.

Blew his ACL, and MCL, out for at least a full year.

If that's true, that is incredibly sad.
He is a complete player and an unbelievable asset to the Colts as well as to Utah HS Football.

Steve Martinez, his dad, said that John most likely just has a sprained MCL and maybe a small tear, but will not know full extent until MRI on Monday. Amy Donaldson has an article on it for Sunday's paper

What kids on East's roster are from West's area?? I know we have one kid xfer in from Judge because he did not live up to their academic standards, but other than that, all the kids are from East.

MY THOUGHTS ON THE MATTER: WHO KNOWS WHO ARE MAKING THESE COMMENTS. THEY COULD BE PEOPLE POSING TO BE TV OR COLT FANS.
MY TAKE: TV FANS SHOULD NOT BE ON HERE SAYING ANYTHING NEGATIVE. I KNOW FOR A FACT THAT THE TV COACHES/PLAYERS EXTREMELY RESPECT COTTONWOOD THIS YEAR LIKE ANY OTHER YEAR. REALISTICALLY THEY WERE THE ONLY TEAM LAST YEAR THAT COULD HAVE BEATEN TIMPVIEW.
ALSO, THIS YEAR THEY ARE STRONGER AND BETTER AND TIMPVIEW MIGHT BE SLIGHTLY WEAKER OFFENSIVELY. SO, ANYONE COULD WIN THIS YEAR. JUST DEPENDS ON WHO COMES OUT AND PLAYS. IT REALLY IS A TOSS-UP (THOUGH I'M GLAD WE HAVE TV COACHES ON THE SIDELINES)
SO AGAIN, FOR ALL COTTONWOOD PLAYERS AND FANS. YOU HAVE ALL THE RESPECT FROM EVERYONE TIMPVIEW AND GOOD LUCK, STAY HEALTHY, AND WE HOPE TO HAVE AN EPIC BATTLE IN THE FINALS. (IF WE'RE BOTH FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO MAKE IT THERE).

You gotta love a TV Apologist.
It's interesting that you as the supposed #1 TV fan is telling everyone to not be negative but then you make the statement that CWood is stronger and better but that TV may be weaker.
Very interesting.

Martinez is aiming to get back to playing for the playoffs. As of now it is not considered a full season out injury. And everyone seriously, TV is the best team in the state until they are beaten end of story. To say we are the best we have to beat them.

Timpview vs. Cottonwood:This will be a good game if it happens. But i dont think the coaches at cottonwood know how to handle the playoffs like the Timpview coaches do.
I do respect Cottonwood though. Great work this year

Would have won the championship with last year's Timpview team. That is the most dominant team I've seen in Utah in the last 20 years at least.
So don't go saying that Timpview coaches are soooo much better than anyone. Now they prepare as good as anyone in the off season, but that's it.

WHO BEAT HIGHLAND??
relax | 8:55 a.m. Oct. 13, 2008
Wow, being up 36 - 0 with over a minute left in the half. Most teams would have had their second and third teams in by the second possession of the second half. But you saw what quality coaching will do for half time adjustments. If it wasn't for pivotal mistakes in the first half, Cottonwood would have lost their third to the Leopards in 4 years - that's taking into consideration that Cottonwood has raided the Glendale area for talent, the past five years. Better hope, for the sake of the Colts, that the two teams don't meet up in the playoffs.
Is Cottonwood really the team in 4A? Who was the last 4A team to beat Timpview? Look back to the '05 quarterfinals. It wasn't close and it wasn't Cottonwood.
To East Fan: you need to relax. Don't start a division among the constituents. The defense is doing just fine. As is the offense.
To all of the Region VI haters out there: Other than TView, who has a quality program in Utah County? Mt Crest, Sky View, and Bountiful are legit. But who else is out there?

Agreed relax (on some things)
East came back strong in the 2nd half but even without their turnovers cottonwood still scored more so that really isn't a legit argument. Of course recruitment is a fancy word now days, but east can't use that argument as they get lots of talent from west. What other team besides cwood has the chance of standing up to timpview please tell me honestly?
As for the things I agree on utah county programs, theres timpview........... they are just ahead of the game and until beaten are the best in the state. Region 6 was disappointing last year but before that always on average has 2 teams in the semi's. I don't think that will fly this year though as east faces tview in the quarters and highland has to go through mountain crest and Pine view to get there which i doubt they make it through but if they do good for them. Playoffs should be good this year im excited.

I will give cottonwood the credit they deserve, they won and they took advantage of the East mistakes, while making little of thier own.
But East does not get any of there players from west. All there players live in the district have played for East little league their whole life, except Edward Fakahafua, he came from judge.
