That's just plain rediculous because Lindon City has required every single home built above the canal to have a soils inspection done after the basement is dug and prior to placing footings for at least the past 8 years....so these people are now claiming the knew nothing about it? They are saying they didn't ask their contractor what he was waiting for after the hole was dug and no one showed up for days to do anything? Give me a break! Sure....go after the different companies insurances and make them fix the home but to give them $3 million bucks for being stupid??? I've built all over Lindon and had to do a soils inspection EVERY SINGLE TIME. A couple of times we ran into collapsible soils and in those instances the soils engineer gave us recommendations of what to do to mitigate those problems. Guess what? My homes are still standing with not one bit of settling happing many years later!!!!

Maybe this stupid contractor above should learn how to spell before he starts dishing out advice! FYI an excavation observation is a completely differant report than a complete subdivision wide soils report with extensive warnings to homeowners of erratic collapse potential of existing soils. These are deep borings and the samples are tested. Just looking at the dirt before you pour a footing does not insure that the structure above will not fail. Get educated. REDICULOUS?
