Media Matters: Time for clarity

With little less than a month to go before Election Day, voters need the news media to cut through the clutter of the candidates competing sound bites and spin. They need clear and concise explanations of what, exactly, the candidates would do if elected. And they need the media to provide this every day, not just once in a while. Unfortunately, they aren't getting it. Instead, they are faced with countless news reports that simply repeat charges and counter-charges or obsess over minor details while failing to provide the big picture. News reports that obscure rather than clarify the candidates' proposals and positions. Both Obama and Hillary can be described as: prevaricators liar: a person who has lied or who lies repeatedly
BHO's Lack of Character | 5:31 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
Barack Obama's Proven Lack of Character
We will make this simple so Obamamaniacs can understand it. (1) You cannot appear at a tribute to Michael Vick one day and the SPCA the next day, and expect anyone to believe that you really share the SPCA's views on animal abuse including dog fighting. (2) You cannot appear at the Ku Klux Klan one day and the NAACP the next, and expect anyone to believe that you are really for civil rights. (3) You cannot passively accept the support of the Stormfront.org White Nationalist Community (as Ron Paul is doing) while saying you oppose racism and bigotry, and have anyone with any intelligence whatsoever believe you. (4) You cannot appear at Al Sharpton's National Action Network one day and AIPAC the next, and expect anyone to believe that you have any use for Jews.

Obama, on the other hand, is nothing more than a hollow mannequin on which to hang a suit and paste a phony smile; he has no character to develop. Much as we detest Hillary Clinton as a would-be dictator, and the likely reincarnation of Queen Olympias, Aggripina, Lady Macbeth, and Lucretia Borgia, we have to respect her. Most people have far more respect for a genuine villain (e.g. Sherlock Holmes' nemesis Professor Moriarity, the White Witch of Narnia, Richard III, Lord Voldemort, Colonel Leroux of Sharpe's Sword) than for a pathetic marionette whose strings are operated by George Soros and who knows who else. Neither hero nor villain, Barack Obama is really a nothing. We remind your readers that Obama received in excess of $60,000 from Soros and his family for his Senate campaign, and we have no desire to find out what Soros is getting for his money.

That's why we want to see her | 6:39 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
Sarah tells the truth. More than 500,000 people are heading to Clearwater's Coachman Park this morning to hear from one of the most popular Republicans in the country Sen. John McCain's running mate, Sarah Palin. Lines formed before 5 a.m. for the Alaskan governor's speech, which is scheduled for 9 a.m., one of several such stops in Florida, a key battleground state that polls say is still too close to call in the race between McCain and Sen. Barack H. Obamacon. Palin will also be rallying support in Ft. Myers, Jacksonville, and Pensacola. In her last Florida stop a few weeks ago, 250,000 people turned out to hear her speak at The Villages. Republican Party officials say they have distributed free tickets to today's event. The rally could cause traffic tie-ups in downtown Clearwater this morning. Fort Harrison Avenue is closed near the park, along with Cleveland and Drew streets. However, a free shuttle is running between Jack Russell Stadium and the park until noon.

This smear has been disproved | 6:58 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
Disproved many times over. If she wants to make a valid criticism, that's fine. Trying to hide one's campaign's problems by lying to smear the other candidate is inexcusable.

McCain was subjected to this type of thing in 2000. Shame on him for allowing his campaign to do to Obama what was done to him.
We all love you Sarah | 7:04 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
People don't care about issues. They don't care about people lying. They don't care about their morals. All they care about is these little sound bites and these little snippets that these politicians are using, especially Obama. People hear 70% of the people are going to have less taxes and they're going to have a chicken in every pot, and that's all they base their votes on. It's impossible for 95% of taxpayers to get a tax cut. Yes, but the Democrats do this every year. They do this every presidential year. Now, buck up out there. It's not over yet. The fact that the Democrats have to do this is an indication of the actual weakness that they face in this country with genuine voters. There are positives.Sarah Palin should be running for president. I hate to say it, but she had more aggressive sound bites towards Biden yesterday than McCain did against Obama in their debate, and I just don't understand where his game plan is leading. That's what bothers me. Don't any of you people start panicking, now. Fear can be a good motivator, but panic isn't. You've gotta stay involved out there.
love her | 7:05 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
McCain: served his country valiantly.

Hussein-Obama: Hangs out with domestic terrorist who murdered a Police Officer with a pipe-bomb.

Republican/Conservative: Protect Americans and Unborn Babies.

Democrat/Liberal: Protect Terrorists and allow abortion of unborn babies.

Gee who should I vote for?

The choice is clear.

McCain Palin 2008. Our Lives and Future lives depend on it.
Vote for McCain and Sarah 2008 | 7:06 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
Don't any of you people start panicking, now. Fear can be a good motivator, but panic isn't. You've gotta stay involved out there. You cannot get so dispirited that you think it's pointless to show up and vote on Election Day.
President Palin has a nice tune | 7:20 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
McCain and Palin make a better TEAM than a Utah "monkey sock" puppet-figure, and Joe Biden still looks like a Klingon, now go figure. Terrorist's support other terrorist's, but NOT ON THE McCain / Palin "TRUE TEAM" 2008!.
Sarah's doing just fine folks | 8:00 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
Palin sharpens attack on Obama - The road to the White House is heading for a nasty turn. Sarah Palin, in her first trip to the Tampa Bay Area as the Republican's vice presidential nominee, charged Sunday that Americans don't know "the real Barack Obama," a signal that John McCain's campaign will sharpen its attacks on the Democratic nominee's character and judgment in the final month of the race. Attending a private Burlingame fundraiser, the Alaska governor stuck by her claim that Obama is someone who "would pal around with, and work with, a former domestic terrorist." She was referring to Bill Ayers, founder of the Vietnam-era Weather Underground, blamed for bombings and the death of a San Francisco police officer when Obama was still a child. Palin's Tampa Bay Area appearance also brought out the crowds. Outside the hotel, about 300 protesters, organized by local Democrat Party officials, lined the street, many holding signs and occasionally engaging in competitive chants with a smaller crowd of about 100 McCain-Palin supporters.
A Elephant never forgets | 8:12 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
Ayers defines terrorism as "the use or threat of random violence to intimidate, frighten, or coerce a population toward some political end," and he cites, as examples, "an Israeli assault on a neighborhood in Gaza," the Sept. 11 attacks, and "Sherman's March to the Sea" during the Civil War. Ayers concludes his self-defense with a brief against capitalism. "Capitalism," he writes, "played its role historically and is exhausted as a force for progress: built on exploitation, theft, conquest, war, and racism, capitalism and imperialism must be defeated and a world revolution - a revolution against war and racism and materialism, a revolution based on human solidarity and love, cooperation and the common good - must win. Yes, Barack Obama truly has quite the circle of friends. A man is known by the company he keeps - and we are learning more and more about Barack H. Obama. Seeing the liberal news media wants to hide it from all of us now.
CHANGE WE NEED ? - "HA!" | 8:15 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
Obama also was involved in pro-Palestinian activities an involvement he has tried to obscure as he sought support from American Jews when he began his Senate and Presidential campaigns. He attended pro-Palestinian events where anti-Israel invective was par for the course. He served on the board of Directors of the Woods Foundation which gave grants to pro-Palestinian groups and helped sponsor propaganda events for the Palestinian cause. These events featured anti-Israel agitprop as a central focus. He served on the board of the this foundation with William Ayers, a leader of the Weather Underground, a group that in the late 1960s carried out domestic terrorism against American targets such as police stations, the Pentagon, and other symbols of the establishment. Ayers lives in the same Hyde Park neighborhood as the Obamas and contributed to his Senate campaign.

Obama is right on "CHANGE WE NEED" - we'll all get it when McCain and Sarah is elected in Washington DC, not with Obama, now or ever.
Vettting B.O. | 8:29 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
What the Obama camp's charge of a smear campaign is nothing more than a too long delayed vetting of the great one. The American people have the right, nay the duty, to learn of B.O.'s radical background and his associations during his Columbia and Harvard years which are conspicuously missing from his explanation of who he is. We do not know who B.O. is. We only know who he says he is and that's not good enough. B.O. is seriously out of the mainstream of America and needs to be thoroughly vetted. Vetting B.O. is a legitimate campaign issue notwithstanding the Obama camp's charge of "smear." More of his past which has formed his extreme radical left-wing agenda for America needs to be and will be revealed.
Very Interesting Sarah | 8:42 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
We have heard about Bomber Bill, but we hear little about fellow SDS member Carl Davidson. According to Discover the Networks, Davidson was an early supporter of Barack Obama and a prominent member of Chicago's New Party, a synthesis of CPUSA members, Socialists, ACORN veterans and other radicals. Obama sought and received the New Party's endorsement, and they assisted with his campaign. The New Party also developed a strong relationship with ACORN. As an excellent article on the New Party observes: "Barack Obama knew what he was getting into and remains an ideal New Party candidate."
why did the news keep this ? | 8:44 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
George Soros - The President of his Open Society Institute is Aryeh Neier, founder of the radical Students for a Democratic Society (SDS). As mentioned above, three other former SDS members had extensive contact with Obama: Bill Ayers, Carl Davidson and Wade Rathke. Surely Aryeh Neier would have heard from his former colleagues of the promising new politician. More to the point, Neier is firmly committed to supporting the hugely successful radical organization, ACORN, and would be certain back their favored candidate, Barack Obama. I guess OUR news media forgot to tell us this hey?.
we just love Sarah | 8:51 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
gee, she talks kinda funny, can't pronounce nuclear, is clueless on foreign affairs, shoots first and then asks questions later - don't we just love Palin? She reminds me so much of our current president, clueless and bumbling.
Fact | 8:52 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
Don't tell me that all of the first messages were pro Palin. She is a cutesy PUKE, and the longer this campaign goes on the more people will realize it. Also the first message sender that sent in 3 long messages and others to follow are completely wrong as to the number of people in Florida that will show up. Just watch and if she even gets half of what they are saying I will be surprised. Face it R party it's going to be a landslide victory for Obama, you better start accepting the fact. We, the rest of us that can't stand 4 more yaers of the same, have put up with your party lies form he Bush-Wacker and his VP-Darth Vader for 8 long years and we are sick of your party lies and deciet.
Time for more truth | 8:57 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
The Strategy was first elucidated in the May 2, 1966 issue of The Nation magazine by a pair of radical socialist Columbia University professors, Richard Andrew Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. David Horowitz summarizes it as: The strategy of forcing political change through orchestrated crisis. The "Cloward-Piven Strategy" seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse. Cloward and Piven were inspired by radical organizer and Hillary Clinton mentor Saul Alinsky: "Make the enemy live up to their (sic) own book of rules," Alinsky wrote in his 1989 book Rules for Radicals. When pressed to honor every word of every law and statute, every Judeo-Christian moral tenet, and every implicit promise of the liberal social contract, human agencies inevitably fall short. The system's failure to "live up" to its rule book can then be used to discredit it altogether, and to replace the capitalist "rule book" with a socialist one. 0bama lies.
Did any of you read the article? | 9:11 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
It clearly states that Sarah Palin is LYING to the American people AGAIN.
Are you liberal's mad yet? | 9:43 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
Mr. McCain's campaign said they are raising the corruption issue because the press has failed to do so. Senator Obama very directly has introduced the issue of associations in this campaign, I think, raising fundamentally that you can tell something about people by the company they keep, top McCain aide Steve Schmidt told reporters. As the financial sector spiraled downward last week so did Mr. McCain's poll numbers, dragged down by his own confusion over the state of the economy and knocked off message by his own surrogates. What had been a slight three-percentage-point lead in the polls turned, and Mr. Obama now leads by 2.7 percentage points in the Real Clear Politics average of national polls. Sensing an opening, Mr. Obama sought to take the press to his advantage, working to link Mr. McCain with President Bush, whose popularity has dipped below 30 percent in some national polls. As the campaign proceeds, the two camps have stepped up their on-air attacks through ever-harsher commercials.

Obama's terrorist world concert tour caused this today also. World stock markets have plunged after government bank bail-outs in the US and Europe failed to stem fears of slower global economic growth. London's key UK share index lost 6.5% and France's Cac-40 tumbled 7%. In London, the FTSE 100 index was down 324.6 points, or 6.5%, at 4,655.6 - having lost 8.5% at one point. Germany's Dax index lost 7%, while France's Cac-40 index dropped 7.3% having fallen as much as 9.3% in mid-afternoon trade. Earlier, Japan's Nikkei index had closed down 4.3%, or 465 points, at 10,473.1 - its lowest close since February 2004. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index slid 5%, while key Russian markets slumped by 15%. Markets in India, China, Australia and Singapore also lost ground, while the main Indonesian market lost 10% - the biggest one-day fall on record. Trading on key stock markets in Brazil and Russia was temporarily suspended after share prices plummeted by 10% and 15% respectively. Russia's RTS index ended 19.1% down. The prospect of a slowdown denting energy demand saw oil prices fall further, dipping under $90 a barrel. In London Brent crude dropped $3.38 to $86.87 a barrel.
bla bla bla | 10:06 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
keep talking all you show is that the republicans have ran out of ideas and gotten desperate to change the subject.
by the way as a side note this was all vetted during the primaries despite claims here.
Observer | 11:06 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
This is all the Republicans have left. They have no issues to stand on because everything they've supported for the last 8 years, and that McCain has supported his entire career, have failed. Once again, McCain has shown that he will do anything, and say anything, to further his political career. A man of no character who broke his word about how he would run his campaign. Palin is still showing what a poor choice she was, someone who it totally unqualified to be a governor, much less the vp. The majority Americans have had enough of their lying, attacking politics with no solutions, and the polls show it. It's good to see the Obama campaign finally bringing up McCain's direct connection to the Keating 5 so those who weren't around then can find out what McCain is actually about.
Grimble | 11:17 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008
I used to spend way too much time during the day answering these kind of ignorant, paranoid, anti-Obama rants with facts. But it seems like those who can be persuaded by reason already have been. Obama's lead in composite polls is now hovering in the 8-10 point range, he's got increasingly comfortable leads in a number of swing states, and now on the home stretch McCain's campaign is becoming increasingly erratic and dishonest -- just like a McCain presidency would be.

So I'm going to save my breath. The GOP-no-matter-what Utahns on this board that have drunk the Palinade aren't going to be convinced by any amount of reason or factual argument; they have demonstrated that their decisions are based on empty winks and perky "You-betchas," not on facts or policy.

I have a number of conservative friends with whom I can still have intelligent conversations about politics. They have legitimate disagreements with me on points of policy; they don't have to scrape the bottom of the barrel for Wright/Ayers nonsense.

Alas, none of those conservatives seem to frequent the DN boards.

Re: Observer | 11:06 a.m. Oct. 6, 2008

Well guess what, as always YOUR WRONG AGAIN, and YOUR POINT IS?.

Obama has NEVER BEEN cleared. SAY IT - oh I forgot, you and 0bamacon are sleeping together. You can't say the truth either.

Senators John Glenn and John McCain were cleared of having acted improperly but were criticized for having exercised "poor judgment".

All five of the senators involved served out their terms. Only Glenn and McCain ran for re-election, and they both succeeded. McCain would go on to become the Republican nominee for president in 2008.
Anonymous | 12:00 p.m. Oct. 6, 2008
McCain at times has had a media reputation as a "maverick" for disagreeing with his party on several key issues. After being investigated and largely exonerated in a political influence scandal of the 1980s as a member of the "Keating Five," he made campaign finance reform one of his signature concerns, which eventually led to the passage of the McCain-Feingold Act in 2002. The Keating Five were five United States Senators accused of corruption in 1989, igniting a major political scandal as part of the larger Savings and Loan crisis of the late 1980s and early 1990s. The five senators, Alan Cranston (D-CA), Dennis DeConcini (D-AZ), John Glenn (D-OH), John McCain (R-AZ), and Donald W. Riegle (D-MI), were accused of improperly intervening in 1987 on behalf of Charles H. Keating, Jr., chairman of the Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which was the target of a regulatory investigation by the Federal Home Loan Bank Board (FHLBB). The FHLBB subsequently backed off taking action against Lincoln.Lincoln Savings and Loan collapsed in 1989, at a cost of $2 billion to the federal government. Some 23,000 Lincoln bondholders were defrauded and many elderly investors lost their life savings.

What are LDS views on forgiving | 12:22 p.m. Oct. 6, 2008
Please Sarah, I and many others were taken back by the words used by the founder of the Alaskan Independence Party that your husband belonged to. Talk about a group that speaks of hating America.

You don't want to be judged by this person's extremist views.

You attack Obama because of another person past transgressions. Obama knew a radical. Obama never made friends with the guy. Did you bother to think that, one reason Obama never got close to the guy was, he didn't like the man's politics?

In life we deal with people of all kinds.

If a conservative stopped by his liberal neighbor's house for a barbecue that conservative magically morphs in to a liberal?

The educated question that came to my mind was: if the man is a terrorist why is Homeland Security, the FBI and the Bush administration trying to take me off our streets?

The man was judged in court and served his sentence.

I'm meet a guy who has two DUI's on his record. This means, I support drunk driving?

We have a woman claiming to be a Christmas who never forgives. This makes her a better fit in Utah?
amazed | 12:22 p.m. Oct. 6, 2008
To those Obama supporters. I hope you will listen to what comes out of Rev. Wrights and Ayers own mouths. If you can't see the hate and anti-American feelings they have then you have a problem. Look at Obamas plans and voting record. Do some research yourself and don't let the media determine what you believe.Obama has other anti-American friends also. Birds of a feather flock together. If you really believe Obama has a great patriotic love for his country then you have not been paying attention. His actions speak much louder than his flattering words.

Re: Grimble | 12:22 p.m. Oct. 6, 2008
The arrogance of liberals who try to down play the significant issues.

"Wright/Ayers nonsense"? Yes a candidate's preacher who hates America, just like Obama's wife, and a Terrorist involved in killing a San Francisco Police Officer are Nonsense...Nonsense that anyone would consider a President who councils with them and even associates with such a strong anti-American element.

Facts: There are plenty of facts posted and reported and available daily but Liberals want their information from the likes of Kieth Oberman who is more inflamatory and biggoted than any reporter out there.

"legitimate disagreements": What is Legitimate to you is personal and quite honestly wrong. Here's what is Legitimate that you attempt to hide.

Barrack Hussein Obama wants:
-More taxes.
-Terrorist rights.
-To Kill unborn children (Third Trimester).
-To hide the fact he took massive amounts of drugs. ("Blow when I could get it")
-To hide his relationship with terrorists (Ayers) and black racists (Wright and Michelle).
-To cut the military.
-To negotiate with murderers and terrorists.
-To wipe out the Chrisian beliefs this country is founded upon
-To forward the oppressive, women violating, muslim religion in this country.

"Palinade" Good attempt but lame like the rest of your theory.
ACORN | 1:18 p.m. Oct. 6, 2008
Palins right about Obama. What has he done to qualify himself to be president. ACORN is a radical organization under investigation in several states for voter registration fraud. Obama cites community organizer as qualifying him to be president. What did he do as a community organizer? He trained members of ACRON how to picket and threaten banks untill they gave subprime loans, to people that could never pay the loan back. He also provided legal council for them. Obama has only been in the senate for a couple of years, yet he is the number two reciepent behind senator Dodd for contributions from Fanny May and Freddy Mac,$ 120,000. dollars. This is payback for his work with ACORN to picket banks all over the US for subprime loans. This enabled the CEO's of Freddy Mac and Fanny Mae to get million's.

I'm too busy to understand Ayers was a domestic terrorist and Wright is a Anti-American white hating, black racist just like Michelle Obama and her college thesis states.

Nope "Alas" not smart enough so a Hi howdy ho to you and thems smart, productive democrats searching for a free handout or making liberal movies and motives.
Why Bother | 1:44 p.m. Oct. 6, 2008
Gee, Grimble, I am soooo impressed with your grasp of matters that you would not condescend to discuss them with those ignoramuses who might have a differing opinion. Most rabid zealots and especially pseudo-intellectuals do not recognize their own contradictory behavior. As more light is shed on the Wright/Obama, Ayres/Obama, Rezko/Obama, etc. relationships and the dishonesty with which the great one has explained them, throwing anyone under the bus who disagrees with him or gets in his way, I think you might reassess that "Wright/Ayres nonsense," but I doubt that you will. From the tone of your post, your mind is like concrete--all mixed up and permanently set so I'm going to save my breath. And don't get too smug about the current polls, they can change dramatically in a matter of hours--and will. What a conscending know-it-all you are!!! Your response to me will probably be that all I did was call names and did not deal with issues. That is true. So I say to you as you did to anyone who disagrees with you--why waste my breath?

R U liberal's very sad now? | 2:24 p.m. Oct. 6, 2008
I know the difference between clinical depression and sadness. They say to themselves, “I have a good job, plenty of money, a nice home, the latest gadgets, and good looking kids. What reason do I have to be depressed?” No one ever considers that happiness doesn’t always come in the form of a boat or a tropical vacation. TV tells us that a new car with a heated cup holder will make us happy or a cell phone that plays MP3’s or a cute new sun dress. So we buy and buy and buy and when that doesn’t work, TV is quick to remind us that people in other countries are starving, so we should grateful for what we’ve got, the reason I think people are so sad, simple loneliness. In this day an age, it’s hard to admit you’re lonely. After all, we’re surrounded by an endlessly vast amount of people on a daily basis. We have co-workers, extended families, and shopping buddies. Sometimes we have children, foolishly hoping that a small baby will fulfill our need for companionship. When none of that works, we buy a dog. Liberal's must be clinically depressed than. Vote 4 Sarah/McCain.
Stop bashing the elderly | 2:35 p.m. Oct. 6, 2008
Perhaps it's time for us elder's per se, to start nailing the younger generation to, for age discrimination, seeing they have so much monies today to lose to us in the Courts. First, as a senior citizen myself I am a very strong advocate for programs that improve the quality of life for our seniors. Unfortunately, the U.S. unlike other societies has not generated the type of respect for the elderly that they deserve. Part of it is due to the changing family structure and other variables that seem to impede our younger generation from embracing the older generation. They want to use their "homeland terrorist" sayings against us, of say "old dude", "old man" and "that old guy" - well that's all it takes folks. So next time you run off at the mouth, even with Senator McCain or Sarah, about that, you better thing twice before you talk real good. The same holds true for the terrorist lover 0bama to.

Obama wants to lower taxrs for 98% of Americans
If Ayers is a terrorist why hasn't he been arrested?
Obama doesn't tell women to decide to have abortions.
There are rumors Bush used cocaine too.
The world isn't Lehi, Utah: most people in the US have meet people with extreme views we disagreed with.

Obama never stated he would cut the military. Bush did ruin it by over extending it and using stop gap orders as a back door draft.

I don't see Obama selling us out to terrorist. The writer is limited in his knowledge of our government. Only congress can pass international agreements.

Is the writer so swallow in his Christian beliefs that he thinks government can change him. I have faith, my LDS Church will be LDS even if Obama is elected.

Obama can't oppress his wife or his two daughters. I trust American women won't let Obama or any leader opres them again.

Stupid lies | 4:55 p.m. Oct. 6, 2008
All the false lies about Obama are being brought to you by the same sleeze bags that told us that McCain had fathered a black baby. You know, the same spit ball specials that told us McCain pushed his crippled x-wife out of a wheel chair before he dumped her. You know, the same network that told us McCain called his present trophy wife some cuss words in front of a crowd of people.

Why are people (Utah) so interested in such false garbage? Do voters really use that kind of logic to pick a new leader? I guess so, look who has been in office twice.

You folks who keep spewing lies about Obama would never have voted for him anyway because he is a Demo. Why do you keep tossing out the lies? Do you really have that much hate in you?

Democrats failure to pass S190 back in 2005 caused this mess. Now Junior Senator B.H.O. says that he will forgive all these people who can not afford or will not pay their debts at the direct expense of hard working Americans. Obama, wants America to become a socialized form of government, where people; corporations who get themselves into trouble do not have to take any responsibility for their actions.

Obama new War. Is the American public ready to endorse the position offered by Obama which calls for the increasing of USA troops in Afghanistan? He said “ we do not have the resources to finish the war in Iraq ”. Do we have the infinite resources to jump into a new prolonged war of 15, 30 or 50 years in Afghanistan?

You know I got to wondering if this Ayres guy and his wife are such terrorist how is it they are not just walking the streets free but college professors and seemingly respected members of their community. So I did a little back checking. It turns out that they where never actually convicted of anything because of flagrant misconduct by the FBI during their investigation. In fact the case was thrown out before it ever went to trial because of the level of misconduct by the FBI, funny how that part never makes the papers.

Re:What are LDS views on forgiving
Yes we are taught to love and forgive. Are we expected to be perfect. Are you blaming every Obama hater here to be LDS and a right winged extremist or Palen supporter. Hwere is your heart and your views. And they are not extreme? I will stand up for my faith and hope you will learn to love and stop hating. I will not bash you but I will not let you bash my faith either. I hope good LDS people will love you despite your lack of understanding of being a good Christian by bashing the LDS faith. Love everyone like Christ said and stop bashing.

The fact that B. Hussein Osama associated himself with criminals (Tony Rezko), terrorists (William Ayers), and America haters (Reverend Jeremiah Wright & Lewis Farrakhan) is enough for me to vote for someone else. It is appalling to even think he should occupy the White House. I refuse to be a part of sullying the Peoples' House with his type of character, no matter how glib and sophisticated he is on the dais.

"We remind your readers that Obama received in excess of $60,000 from Soros and his family for his Senate campaign, and we have no desire to find out what Soros is getting for his money."

The scary part is that we may be on the verge of installing a person in office who is supported and cheered on by world terrorists and Fundamentalist Muslims who we suspect are behind and indeed, support terrorism. Could there be anything more repugnant than that?

Further, I am surprised that a good man like Joe Biden would be willing to associate himself as a vice president with such a character.

To Observer @ 11:06 a.m. who said:

>>>This is all the Republicans have left. They have no issues to stand on because everything they've supported for the last 8 years, and that McCain has supported his entire career, have failed.<<<

Regardless of what has happened over the last few years, what we don't want in the White House is someone of the character of Obama. As reported on this thread, we see that he has spent his time associating with questionable (to say the least) characters to further his career.

And what is even more concerning is the distinct possibility that much of the millions that Obama has collected in campaign contributions comes from foreigners who support him. And what foreigners support him? Fundamentalist Muslim terrorists. We see in the news that they cheer for his success. I'm sure, in time we will find that much of his campaign is funded by enemies of the US. There are investigations underway as we speak as to how and to what extent foreigners are (illegally) providing funding to Osama.

"So I'm going to save my breath."

Grimble, why am I not surprised that you prefer a candidate for the White House who has spend a good amount of his career associating with terrorists, criminals, and America haters? Americans deserve better.

THERE you are. You need to go back to the home or you'll miss Wapner and Hannity.

"As reported on this thread . . ." - Are you SERIOUS? There clearly is an unemployed redneck with a computer on this thread. With nothing better to do, he spreads fear by filling this thread with propaganda text that is so far right, you can see it from Alaska.

So the article this thread is attached to pretty much says Palin is lying but you believe the guy wearing the sheet and pointy hood.

Barak Hussein Obama is simply a better man than John McCain. BHO carries himself and his campaign with more dignity. And, he is better prepared to be President than John Sidney McCain III.

Tisk, Tisk. Fear will only lead you to the dark side.
