This is an awesome story. I have been also following it on the news. Congratulations to Vilma! And what a great school to help her and support her in making her dream come true!

Congrats.
We should make it quicker for individuals that want to come to the US legally to be come citizens.

Glad she finally became a citizen, but I wonder what ever became of her kids?

I work near the Capital Theatre, we saw the children cheering all those who emerged as US Citizens. It was so touching. We thought it was just a school field trip to see the process.
After reading the story, I am even more impressed and get teary-eyed thinking about it.
We have so much in this country. People work so hard to get US Citizenship. It truly is a great thing!

I am an immigrant as well and I can feel the joy and the pain she is feeling.
For us who came here "legally" and trying to make our life better at the same time trying our best to adopt to the way of life here, it is frustrating sometime when we are the one paying for the missdeeds of others of the same circumstance.
I hope everyone will see that not everyone is here to steal jobs or their right in this country. I came here because I know I can be a good contributor to the society..just like Vilma.
Hope for us, those working hard to make it here...hope they give us a break to achieve our place in the U.S.so we can truly prove ourselves worthy of the priviledge of becoming a citizen.

As a fairly new American citizen myself, congratulations to this lady.
What a wonderful opportunity also for the children to see this process and understand how important this step is to so many people. Learning about the Constitution and history of the country will be invaluable to the students too. It is history come alive for them.

all you illegals out there. It can be done THE RIGHT WAY!! Congratulations, Velma and the other 1499 who became citizens at the same time. And congratulations to the students who developed and contributed to the project of helping Velma prepare for the exam. I'm sure this is something that they will be proud of for the rest of their lives.
Well Done !!!!

Congrats to Velma and wishes for a long happy life in the US enriched by the lives of others. I think its very nice of you to open the milk cartons for all the kids. Also I'd like to say to whoever MAKES the milk cartons. WHY are they so hard to open? I remember ruining countless paper milk cartons and drinking with milk pouring out of the wrong part of the spout! This is a travesty. Why aren't we talking more about this in the national presidential debate??
