Sorry to be picky, but you actually donate about one pint of blood, not one liter as the article states. I donated about two weeks ago; if I had remembered about this I would have waited. It would be nice if the U could win this year, but it just doesn't seem to happen.

One pint = .5506 liters. I'd be interested to see a study indicating the exact amount of blood the average person donates. Does it vary from center to center? Anyway my feel is that yes, you are being too picky and that in some, if not many cases the exact amount could be closer to a liter.
