Last year's peak driving season saw the gas price in the $3 per gallon range. Then in the off season the price fell to the $2 per gallon range. This year's peak driving season saw the price in the $4 per gallon range. Then in the off season the price fell to the $3.50 per gallon range. Predictably next year's peak driving season will see $5 per gallon gas.
The U.S. should do everything possible to rapidly develop alternate energy sources plus develop our own natural-occurring oil used for non-energy related products. Included in that solution should be recovering money/oil from Iraq for ridding them of that scoundrel Hussein and his two hideous sons.
Regardless of how one feels about the war I would hope most folks can agree the world is better off without those three low life sadistic murderers.
Politicians from both parties sold out to the energy and auto industries' lobbies decades ago allowing us to get into this mess. Congress should cease the worn out political sideshows. Once the energy crisis is solved there's major house cleaning to be done in Washington.
Only worry about the wealth transfer if Washington starts giving away our gold reserves.

NOt to worry. Obama, Nancy and Harry have assured us that more oil production (drilling) will not bring the price of oil down. Therefore it stands to reason that cutting production will not make the price go up. Right?

Where are all the peak oil theorists today? I thought every well in the world had to be pumping at max output 24/7 in order to barely keep up with worldwide demand?
Apparently there's too much oil on the market.....just like I've been saying for months.
And where are the armchair oil experts who were telling us back in July that "it's all supply and demand"? Cat got your tongue?
So once again we see what's really going on in the oil market: Prices are being artificially propped up by greedy speculators and OPEC.

Peak oil is the real deal, no one knows if the world has reached peak oil yet. Some of the "peakers" I've read predict that as we approach the top of oil production, the price will oscillate up and down, with a general upward trend. Looks correct, so far.
