Congrats to the Cougs for finding a way to win. Blocked kicks are not common and to find success twice is great. The true player of this game and most other BYU games though is Robert Anae. As Offensive Coordinator he understands his players strengths and weaknesses and designs a game scheme to fit. It is up to players to execute, but Anae gets it right. Hall is a good QB but he is not a great one. His arm strength and accuracy down field could improve, but Anae coaches to his strengths among which are decision making and not panicking. Hall has glowing statistics but most of the yards come after the catch by a great set of receivers including backs. Every year just before the season begins, Dick Harmon writes an article about will this be the year that Bronco leaves for a more compelling job. The truth is nobody is coming after Bronco because they are aware of his committment to BYU. We should be more concerned that they will come after and get Robert Anae.

Congratulations to the Cougars. They found a way to win another game. Blocking a kick is an unusual feat in football and to do it twice deserves kudos. I believe that the real Player of the Game should be Robert Anae. While not a player, the Offensive Coordinator is the real reason for the success of the offense. He understands his players strengths and weaknesses and develops game schemes that emphasis those strengths while protecting against weaknesses. Max Hall is a good quarterback but he is not a great one. Anae uses Hall's strenths (decision making and control) to use the short pass to talented receives and backs. He protects against Halls weaknesses (arm strength and accuracy) by not going down field. Each summer as fall camps open, Dick Harmon speculates that Brono Mendenhall might leave for bigger opportunities. Nobody comes calling for Bronco because they are aware of his committment to BYU. We should worry that somebody will come calling for Robert Anae.

Did you just compliment Anae? His play calling is atrocious. Do you see how much they ignore the backs and run plays? The cougars are such an easy team to defend if you have a decent secondary. If it wasn't for Pitta catching balls from the TE position, the cougs start off 0-2. They don't use Unga they way they should. He should have close to 30 carries every game. The brightest spots for the cougs on O are (1) the O line; and (2) Pitta. Until BYU shows they win with their play calling and execution and not just talent, Neither Bronco or Anew will get tapped on the shoulder for an interview at a more notable school. BYU has incredible talent but the coaching holds them back, thus they struggle against teams with less talent.
(By the way, I think it is you Anae that wrote that comment. I don't believe anyone else would be brazen enough to say what you said.)
