Looks like a pretty good deal to me. So what really is job security??? Does it mean that the company can't let you go if times are bad? Does it mean that you get paid even if you are let go for lack of work? Can an employee (who is lucky to have a job in the first place) REALLY demand job security from a company that is paying them a decent pay PLUS benefits, just because they belong to a UNION. COME ON PEOPLE (BOEING MACHINISTS), GET REAL JOIN THE REST OF AMERICA'S WORKING CLASS AND STOP CRYING.

If you want job security, this is NOT the way to go about it. Such strikes drove American automobile factorys overseas, and it will do the same thing for aircraft. Boeing is already building planes in China. This will just speed the transfer of jobs out of America.
The Machinists Union is at it again. When my husband worked for Boeing, the Machinists Union was ranked as the 2nd most left-leaning union in America. I think its leaders WANT to see Boeing jobs go overseas. It's part of the "global economy". May help China, but it sure won't help American workers or the American economy. There's a limit to how many American jobs can go overseas before we become a third world country that no longer can even feed itself. We're a lot closer to that than any of us want to imagine.
We've seen much of our manufactury go overseas, and a tremendous lot of our agriculture. The service jobs are either going that way or are being staffed by immigrants--many of them illegal. WAKE UP, AMERICA!

Blame it on the workers | 1:34 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
HOW DARE THEM ASK FOR BEBEFITS? Everyone knows they should be thankful that they are employed. Maybe they should be paid minimum wage so that the CEOs can make a few more millions in bonus because of the savings. We the middle class are being decimated and most of you applaud the efford.
