HOW MANY OF THE LDS PLAYERS HAVE ELECTED NOT TO PLAY ON SUNDAY?

Playing football on Sunday is breaking the commandment to rest on the Sabbath day. So 27 Mormons are breaking the Sabbath day. Football or any other sport can't be compared to working as a nurse, doctor or police office which are necessary society functions.

Having so many Mormons on NFL teams surely makes the Mormon Church true and superior to all other Churches!

Jesus said, "Beware of false prophets. Watch for the true Church. By the number of NFL players shall ye know them."

Thou shalt not judge.

If they feel OK playing sports in front of cheering, maybe inebriated crowds for $28,000,000, headlines, and endorsement opportunities while other folks are in Sacrament Meeting, teaching Sunday School, nurturing the great little Primary kids, doing their home or visiting teaching, interviewing people for temple recommends, organizing a week's worth of seminary classes, feeding the missionaries, or just reading the scriptures and OD'ing on the Mo Tabs, that's between them and the Lord.

If they're OK bouncing a ball around knowing the hardworking Sunday School teacher or Relief Society counselor then goes home and changes to go to a real job at a hospital, police or fire department, transit or utility company (and yes, I've btdt), that's still between them and the Lord.

I'm sure He will give them adequate opportunities to worship.

And I can assure you, none of these NFL Mormons play on Sunday.

The example for my sons? How do I explain your glorifying football players to them and then not let them join the ski team to race on Sundays. Your newspaper makes me look like a fool.

So Michael, I guess nurses, fire fighters, and policemen shouldn't be working on Sunday either? How about Mormon Tab Choir directors and organists who also get paid for performing on Sunday too?

LDS Professional football players play on Sunday because it's their job and livelihood.

That's different than playing recreational sports on Sunday.

Is it neccessary to work on the Sabbath (notice I said sabbath not sunday)

Nurse? Yes.
Firefighter or policeman? Yes.

play football? no. (the league just chooses to)

God delivered blessings to us all, and these gentlemen are living the spirit by using the blessings delivered to them in their excellence! You say: " how can these players be role models for my sons?" Research them off the field and then express how well they live according to their covenants. If your sons are exceptional skiers and that is the talent they have been blessed with, then you are doing them a disservice to refrain from allowing them to ski on Sundays versus teaching them how to manage life being Mormon and honoring a covenant to "keep the sabbath holy" (not to "work") Remember that from the Temple interviews? The Lord himself healed on the Sabbath...
