I'm afraid for the cougars. Everyone knows they suffer from non-con-road-loss-eritus, but the team, the coaches and even more so, the fans, keep pointing out the weaknesses of the Huskies and expecting to win big. With that mentality, we won't cover the spread and have a good possibility of losing. Washington played a very good Oregon team and no one knows how good the bottom of the PAC 10 is. They could be better than the supposedly number one team of the MWC. The cougars need to prove themselves, and this is the game to do it. And stories like this that say the only way for the cougars to lose is to have several turnovers, Max hall sit out 2nd half, and Husky kick returns for TDs, does not help. Did you not watch the UNI game last week? The cougars can lose by turning the ball over once inside their own 20, PERIOD. WIth all respect to UNI, the Huskies are better. I think the cougars eak this one out, 28-27. This won't help their case for a BCS bid other than the most important thing - Its not a loss. Go cougs, but remain humble - PLZ

This weeks is the week that should be fun for the dream match-up. The dream match-up is an undefeated BYU and Utah playing for all the marbles, to include a BCS bid, in November.
And both teams have monkeys to sort out this week. BYU a non-conference team on the road. Utah, UNLV.
I sure hope both take care of business. BYU has the bigger monkey but who would have guessed how Utah was whooped on last year. And with an thin defensive line working to stop a big, smash-mouth type runner, could make for a long day.
Both teams had better be really focused or else the season that could be will be gone.
Go BYU!

As a Ute fan, I'm hoping the Cougars don't embarrass the whole MWC by losing an OOC game it ought to win big. I'm tired of hearing it's a "BCS team" every time a MWC team plays one. They play D-1 ball...so do we...act like it and win the ones you're supposed to. I want to meet at the end of the season with two undefeated teams...Utes winning of course!

Dick: You Missed Out | 9:17 a.m. Sept. 6, 2008
First, you missed the NEW MEX prediction. The Lobo's will take Texas A&M apart down in ABQ!!!
Second, you tip-toed around the lake when you mentioned the Huskies taking Max Hall out of the game in the first half. Most of us remember Tom Young and clearly understand the stakes for Washington today. It is their unspoken gaol to take Max out of the game, even if it cost them 15 yds. It's not like it's a nationally televised game.
Third, the Pac-10 ref's. again there will not be 20 million witnesses tuned in.
The boys need to reach down inside and find a little of that Porter Rockwell spirit today.

Kwegs can't stop Locker, cause they don't have the speed. He will score at least 3 tds with his legs and throw for two more. Kwegs are 1-1 off to another imperfect season.

You have to respect Jake Locker. He is the biggest fastest QB you will see this year, last week he was shaking the cobwebs out of a hamstring injury that had kept him sidelined and he missed many practices. BYU, I love what you are doing with your program, if i had a kid that didnt want to go to UW and chose BYU i wouldnt cry in my cream of wheat; but, BYU, i have seen Oregon, i know Oregon, and you are no Oregon. the Ducks will win the National Championship; they made the Dawgs look very bad with their spread offense. I predict your QB hall will get knocked out of the game, but i still see a BYU victory parade in provo after church lets out tomorrow. BYU 31- UW 20
I hate to be negative... | 10:47 a.m. Sept. 6, 2008
But I just don't see BYU beating Washington today. I think this "quest for perfection" isn't going to happen this year. There are just to many difficult road challenges for a young defensive team, and a turnover prone offense. I see BYU losing two games overall this year, perhaps even three. Sorry Coug Fans, even though Im a Coug Fan I think next year in 2009 is the year for BYU to run the table. They'll have alot of their offense back, minus a few offensive lineman, and they'll have a more experienced defense. Prediction: Washington 24 BYU 20.

Who are the "Kwegs"?
wow | 2:57 p.m. Sept. 6, 2008
props to the humble BYU fans who take all the games as serious threats to what they want to accomplish. This is one of the major reasons I don't like dick's articles. Yes I'm a utah fan so I have that bias, but especially with score picks dick seems to have an interesting take on what the results will be, even in games not involving BYU, seems like you fans that posted here have better foresight than him cause as of now it 14-14 at half. Here's to hopin that neither team screws up what could be the greatest game even in the rivalry.

Good call, dude.
Did you predict a blocked extra point with 2 seconds on the clock?
Glad one of the breaks in that game finally went BYU's way.
