Two Tracks, Not one | 11:56 a.m. Sept. 7, 2008
Trax would be a much more viable option, had our planners and leaders had the vision to push for a two track system, so there would be more carrying capacity.

As it is, there is not a lot of capacity. Already the train must stop for trains coming in from the other direction, capacity can't increase or the waits would increase.

The train has hardly made much of a difference in the amount of traffic on the freeway, it can't.

I plead with the leaders that there are, to make it so that the front runner going to Provo, will have two tracks not one.

Trax does have two tracks everywhere but on a bridge between the 78th South and the 90th South stations -- and UTA is working on adding the second track there, so in a few more months, the occasional short pause at the 78th South station will be a thing of the past.

Dear Mr. Kratz,
Articles such as yours help keep our highways free of congestion and slowdowns caused by TRAX wannabees who dare to drive. I love the marketing angles (reading, sleeping, music)you raised. There was no need though to mention smelly people. Thank you for not adding cars baking in unprotected lots, people with elbows in your side, and glares from women expecting the seat to be relinquished. Keep up the good work...where do you want to drive for lunch ? It's on me !!!
