It doesn't matter how they stop the running back when aparently Bonneville doesn't have much of a passing game if they couldn't score again till late. Both of those scores came from the defense forcing turnovers deep in Warrior territory.

If Weber has great athletes with great attitudes, then what's the problem. Why is Weber always at the bottom in Region 1. Is it the enrollment, Should Weber really be 3A? We would love to have them in 3A.

Different Feel... | 12:16 p.m. Aug. 30, 2008
In reple to What's Next, my son who is on the team this year has commented how there is a difference feeling to this year's team. He says that they feel more like a team than in past years. Yes, Coach Murray has always had some great athletes but I don't think the tremendous attitudes were always there in past years. Instead of complaining, let's be supportive.
Simple questions | 6:19 p.m. Aug. 31, 2008
Will Weber make a change after this years 1-9 season? Will they continue to spiral downward after each game and after each season? Will someone tell their Athletic Department that this is 5A football? Weber's really starting to give region 1 a patsy reputation.

Do you think it is easy being in Region 1 in all of the sports? Would you like to try your hand at coaching a sport in Region 1 where it's a blood bath in every sport? If you think Weber gives Region 1 a patsy reputation, which you are probably someone from Davis County, wait until Roy joins the Region next year.

Is better than Weber.

Any school's athletic struggles start at the top. Stokes doesn't care about winning as long as the program is in place for participation. Who is Ted Peterson? An apathetic AD & Principal is a bad combination, which leaves you with a questionable young coaching staff that has flushed Weber's tradition down the toilet. When Weber made its mark, you had veteran coaches who demanded respect and knew x's and o's to get wins. Right now you have young guys who coach because they never wanted to leave high school in the first place and don't know how to win. An overhaul is needed from the top down.

Well stated. I couldn't agree with you more.

Weber has a football tradition? Since when? Other than 1985 and 2000, when have they been good? How many region football titles do they have? Answer: not many for being a very old school. Fremont is less than 20 years old and Northridge isn't much older, yet they probably have more region and state football titles between them.

I believe Ted Peterson was a part of the old football coaching staff in 2000 when they were winning? Did he all of a sudden get stupid as the AD?

Weber football has never been great. They have had a couple of good seasons out of what 100 years of existence. Get real

bonneville's quarterback passed a great game there were two TOUCHDOWN passes dropped so question the hands of there WR's

Maybe It Starts at the Top should get his facts straight before spouting off. Who is Stokes? Oh...You are talking about the principal that retired and we have a new one now. Ted Peterson is not an apathtic AD. He works hard for the kids and the coaches and keeps things running.

As for when weber made its mark was when you had veteran coaches who demanded respect. Some of those coaches have moved on to other schools and the reason...the parents here at Weber. Maybe they should take a look in the mirror and before claiming that the coaches are those that never wanted to leave high school, maybe it's the parents that are living through their kids!

I don't want to bash Weber Football. I actually have an affinity for the program. I wish Coach Murray, his staff, and players the best this season. I would like to see them do well this season.

My disbelief comes from the comments about what a great tradition WHS football has had until recently. The fact remains that WHS football has never really been dominant. Coach Buckwoldt in 1985 and Coach Bosgeiter in 2000 did amazing jobs getting WHS to the top. But those years were extraordinary and not the norm. I don't mean to be negative, but it is the facts.

Whether or not WHS is underachieving or not is subject to debate; however, history shows that WHS has struggled on the gridiron for many years. I'm sorry that that reality hurts some people.

Just maybe instead of pointing fingers at coaches and administration WHS fans should focus on getting their athletes out for football (something a dozen seniors are on the team?). Where is the pride in this senior class, or are they just a bunch of complainers who want to criticize those in the arena willing to sacrifice? Good luck WHS.
Re: Get Real | 6:25 p.m. Sept. 4, 2008
There are alot of good athletes at the school that I know that just are not willing to sacrifice like those that truly want to play the game.

Go Warriors!
Start Winning | 11:06 p.m. Sept. 4, 2008
I've got a great idea. Since Weber doesn't have a winning tradition, let's just keep hiring lack-luster, inexperienced coaches to carry on the tradition. I don't see the new coaches at Fremont, Bonneville, Syracuse or Layton using the same lame excuses. Most of these blogs are from coaches or their wives trying to defend their jobs and justify their existance. Truth is, Weber has talent: go figure.
Re: Start Winning | 12:18 p.m. Sept. 5, 2008
I don't doubt that WHS has talent, but when 12 seniors come out for the football team out of 300 that is the problem.

Blame the coaches or the administration. Blame the school colors. Maybe 288 senior boys hate wearing red and black? How about facing reality, the athletes are not participating. Why--coaches, parents, administration? How about each senior boy who has any athletic ability, who chooses not to play, look in the mirror. The easiest thing in the world is to blame others for your apathy or failures.

Don't tell me that the talent at WHS isn't playing because they don't like the coaching or coaches. What a pathetic existence one must lead, if they refuse to do something they supposedly love because the coach is mean or an idiot, etc.

Last I saw the coaches and the administration are at least doing something. You may disagree with every decision they make, but most of the critics aren't doing anything but complain about everything done by the people in charge. How hard is that?

The 12 seniors on WHS football team are studs--the 288 senior boys watching their buddies sacrifice aren't even worth mentioning. What a let down.
Set an example | 9:56 a.m. Sept. 8, 2008
Isn't part of coaching recruiting those 288 seniors to help participate? Tell the coaches to quit with the power struggles. Tell the athletes they're needed and build your program arround them. Quit demonstrating a hard guy attitude or an "I don't need you mentality". The athletes see this as pompus bullying. They want to be associated with unity and trust. Again, quit with the hard guy approach and at the same time, start winning games.
