Shurtleff hoping surgery will save his leg

Does this mean Shurtleff won't be running for office? After the Voucher debacle it would be better to get in someone else.

Sorry about the leg, and hoping that the surgery is a success.

Many people who have lost limbs have turned the tragedy into triumph. I'm sure whatever the outcome for Mr. Shurtleff he too will find a way to live his life to the fullest. I wish him the best.

Maybe the State of Utah should make Mr. Shurtleff's medical decision for him, just as Mr. Shurtleff attempted to force Parker Jensen to accept the State's medical decisions. Better yet, let Parker decide! After all, if Shurtleff can meddle in the the personal, family matters of a private family, why shouldn't we return the favor?!!!

This guy is the picture of a public statesman and tough guy. Good thing that he's still running, even if limping. Utah needs his kind of attitude toward criminals.

Mark, our thoughts and prayers are with you as you undergo surgery.

Robert, your comments lack insight, understanding and compassion. No matter your political persuasion, taking a "shot" like that when this article is about the man's injuries, is just plain cruel.

Inquiring minds like mine would like to know who is picking up the medical bills for all this. It seems he has had a lot of surgery let alone time off the job. And what about his salary if he is short on state sick leave.

Mark Shurtleff is a decent man and dedicated public servant who has worked hard for the State of Utah despite his injuries. I don't often agree with his politics but I wish him all the best in this very tough situation.

Mark, best wishes on your recovery our prayers are with you, listen to your doctors and stay off the leg for long periods of time. I am 5 months out of surgery and still watching my time spent on my leg. Ken, Mark is an elected official with insurance to cover the medical costs, but I am sure he would accept any financial help from you to help with the deductibles and copays and non insured items. He gets his job done. Robert, you have no idea how government is run or anything about you Attorney General.Government is force and Mark tempers that force. Good luck Mark.

And to those of you who offer these petty, callous remarks, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. If you don't know Mark, you shouldn't be passing judement. He is a good, dedicated public servant.

That is what you have insurance for, to take care of your medical expenses and anything left over you pay yourself. He may be using all his vacation time, sick leave and unpaid leave. What does it matter to you? I can't stand the GOP of which Mr. Shurtleff is a member however I do wish the man well and hopes this turns out positively for him.
One he is stable he can work from his bed, all you need is a phone line, WiFi and a good secure laptop. His staff can come to his home and so on. What do you think the man does - beat the street for criminals?

No Mr. Attorney, Roberts comments were spot on. If his comments were without compassion and insight then surely Mark Shurtleff's actions running the Jensen family out of the state like Governor Boggs of Missouri did the Mormons, bankrupting them, destroying their livelihood and their faith in government and the justice system is beyond cruel, it is evil. And you would call this a political persuasion?

No one wants to see Mr. Shurtleff lose his leg but some of us who watched his lack of compassion, insight, judgement, and plain cruelty, see eery signs of a what goes around comes around law taking effect.

Much like some of those he prosecutes (or doesn't prosecute depending on whether they might have prominence) it is difficult to have a full cup of compassion after witnessing the exercise of so much brutality especially in the name of authority and the law.

And Michael, your words seem to live up to the well deserved reputation of attorneys.

I find it hard to believe after reading some of these comments that people would make such low blows on a person no matter who they are and one of their own, in other words someone living in Utah, no matter their job. Have a heart people of Utah!! And if you don't have one find one!
