Lets hope McCain will take Huntsman with him to Washington. Talk about a governor who knows nothing about his state....
Republican for Obama | 12:32 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Or it could be that Obama, naked, would be a vast improvement over Bush, or John McBush, fully clothed or armored.

I hope it's Mitt, that wil assure the defeat of the George Bushes and their ilk.
please not Mitt | 1:08 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
I love Mitt and would love to see him as the VP. But Greg Curtis and several of his ilk and fasting and praying now that it will be Mitt so they can hold onto their jobs here in Utah. It's worth it to me to see Mitt not be the VP but play some other role with McCain in order to ensure Curtis is voted out.
With Mitt on the ballot, all those losers (Buttars, anyone?) Will roll to victory.
So I love you Mitt, but let us clean our own house here locally first and get rid of the riff raff.

Hey "anonymous" - It sounds like fairy tales are about all you read. Ironically, Hans Christian Andersen likely would have been an Obama fan.

Not important enough | 2:03 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Our gov. is not important enough to know who is up for vp. That is for sure. FYI, does anyone remember what McCain's mom called Mitt Romney? I do...
It does not matter anyway. The demos have a good ticket and McCain will show his dementia so much in the coming days that more people will ask openly:
Is he with us? My grandpa and McCain are twins, and both of them forget things, get things mixed up, and generally wander.
Obama: health, vitality, honesty, educated. Family man.

Not important enough has not looked at Obama much if you think he is honest. He is the devil incarnate. Study who he is and you will change your mind unless it is stuck somewhere.

Mc Lame is a big enough disaster and if you add Mitt's the Pits to it there goes the US down the toilet

Read !When Salt Lake City Calls" an dthen see how sane it would be to have Romney as VP.
Ben Johnson | 3:02 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Mitt Romney is a brilliant politician and would insure a win for McCain as his VP. I hate to say it, but Governor Huntsman comes across as superficial amateurish upon comparison to Mitt.

Nancy Pelosi wouldn't know a gasoline pump if she saw one unless it was parked next to an abortion doctor's office.
I know that Obama's stage is a Greek temple, but it will, to a lot of people, also look like a Roman temple. Could it be that tomorrow night, on Barack Obama's Greek temple, somebody named Clinton will succeed in stabbing The Messiah in the back?

You can dream all you want, but McCain has chosen Tom Ridge and will announce it tomorrow.
Remember you heard it here first.

Mitt Romney, we can name them the McCMit team....LOL!!
Anonymous | 3:48 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
I agree...I think it's Tom Ridge. He's the only chance McCain has of getting Pennsylvania. Romney may have done well in the Rust Belt in the primary...but he will do nothing for McCain in the general election. Those states will vote Democrat. McCain has got to pick someone who can help him in some of the battleground states....and that guy is not Romney.

Who's Tom Ridge?
Cats | 7:11 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Come on you guys. Obama isn't EVIL. He's just way far left and not qualified. I think he's a nice guy and well meaning. His problem is that he just doesn't have any substance or experience. He also has some really bad judgment in his positions and associations.
I think it's really sad the way everyone always sees the other side as evil. No one here is evil. It's just a matter of who has the best political philosophy, positions, experience, judgment and qualifications.
McCain was not my first choice. However, of the two choices, he is by far the best qualified for the job.
P.S. I HOPE IT'S MITT!!!

Ex-GOP, Go Bob Barr | 8:23 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Nail the casket. The GOP is DEAD. John McCain is a liberal tax raising, gun-grabbing, gay loving socilaist, and so is any Republican that supports him. This means Tim Pawlenty as well.

recalled correctly, Tom Ridge was the first person to assumed the post of Secretary of Homeland Security.

No matter who McCain chooses he will win Utah. Utah voters would never consider Obama. Utah's 5 electoral votes are a done deal no matter what happens between now and Nov. Who gives the best speech is of no consequence and so feel free to vote third party or none of the above by leaving it blank. That is of course unless you are in the two party trap set for you. If you feel that you must vote against Obama by holding your nose and voting for McCain you are in the two party trap. I say a pox on both their houses and my vote will be a protest of both of them, and so that is not a wasted vote.
Madonna Likes Obama! | 9:09 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Does anyone believe the attendees of the DNC were ordinary people? These were the extremists from every lobby group known. Romney is the one guy who can appeal to every American. He doesn't talk down, he knows his stuff, and he actually writes most of his own speeches.
Stand Mitt up against Clinton's morals, Carter's brains, and the Kennedys'virtues. Everyone knows he'd be the best candidate ever, if there just weren't so many dang religious bigots out there.

I like Obama too, guess that makes me a freak.
granny | 9:29 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
Huntsman seems to have a problem with Rommey. For the life of I can't see why 70% of the people like Huntsman. Iwon't be voting for him in Nov.
Elkman. | 9:54 p.m. Aug. 28, 2008
We had better hope and pray that Romney is not chosen as V.P. If he is it will greatly hurt the brave Democrats who are running against the evil doers in our State Legislature. Call Mcain and tell him we don't want Brother Romney on the ticket. We need Obama nationally and Democrats locally. Let's throw all the evil Republicans out!! God help us all.

what about orrin hatch? he would be great.
I'd like Mitt, but -- | 1:41 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
There are at least two compelling reasons why Mitt will not be chosen as a running mate:
First, remember why he is was eliminated from the Presidential position in the first place -- over 70% of the Evan. Christians said they would never vote for a Mormon Pres. (and probably VP, who is a heartbeat away). That's where Huckabee spoiled Mitt's chances.
Second, Mitt is recognized as having over 200 million dollars of wealth. All major politicians have to have wealth in order to run for office and once they get elected, they amass greater wealth. The other VP hopefuls are probably also rich, but their wealth is not as widely known.
I find it interesting that this race is turning out to be the "haves" vs the "havenots." The debates over how many houses each person has, etc.
Republicans everywhere should be worried about being elected because Americans have perceived that the Republican party caters to the rich, i.e. oil companies, big business, lobbyists, wall street buyouts, etc. while most of us are wondering if we will be able to maintain one home.

To quote Glen Beck on Romney: "I am a Mormon but also a conservative and Romney's views verge on socialism!"

romney is independently wealthy. he has worked hard and has been successful--good for him. he's not like mccain who married into wealth. anyway, he won't be lured by money to do anything stupid or dishonest because he has all the money he needs. while i respect gov. huntsman, i also don't understand his beef with romney--could it be jealousy?
Annonymous 12:10 | 6:35 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
He has it right. The O'bits are correctly identified as modern day Obamacons who live on hope and hype. The Obit's Messiah has landed on central stage in the largest collesium in the world. Substance is not there. Look at the extreme expense of implementing all of his millenial promises! Where is the money really coming from? Obama lies when he says it is coming from a paired down Washington. Obama and his crowd will never pair down anything, just up your taxes. Remember folks, it is pay back time among the Dems.
If I had to guess | 6:41 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
If I had to guess, I'd say that of all the possible VP choices, that the one democrats fear the most is Romney, hense the arguments brew ha ha about McCain being so rich he doesn't even know how many houses he has.
I suspect this was blown up so McCain would not Choose an Romney, an other very rich person.
They did something somilar with Dan Quail and Kennedy, they got Dan Quail in a debate to compare himself with Kennedy, after which his opponet tore him apart for comparing himself with Kennedy.

On one level it would be interesting to watch the republicans if Mitt is on the ticket. Since neither of the two is an evangelical they would have to find ways to reassure the religious right that they are acceptable. I don't think that cranky McCain has it in him to pander to the right, but watching malleable, Mitt, morph into a "born again" would be fascinating.
Mahershalalhashbaz | 7:00 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
I was hoping McCain would choose his CFR buddy Huntsman the Younger. That way at least one good thing could happen in the next election (getting the most liberal governor in the US out of Utah). VP's are worthless. They do absolutely nothing and have absolutely no power. Who cares who McCain picks.

Yes! A woman. Does this mean the dark ages are over?
Anonymous | 11:42 a.m. Aug. 29, 2008
He picked a woman who's *under ethics investigation* for his running mate instead of Romney!?!?!?!??!?!?!?
