I am thrilled that the national GOP is allowing governor Huntsman--one of the finest democrat politicians in the history of the state--to speak to them!

I wish we had a few more Mormons speaking on the Democratic side.

Nevertheless, maybe the Republican Mormons can speak on tolerance and honesty to the EVANGELICAL Republicans.

The bigger story is that liberal Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and liberal former Democratic (now liberal independent) Connecticut U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman will be speaking at the GOP Convention in Minnesota. Is the GOP opening his arms to the new GOP left or is it liberal U.S. Senator John McCain presumptive GOP nominee opening his arms to the left. It makes you wonder how conservative are Governor really is?

Conservative Democrats have spoken at Republican conventions before. Dem. Zell Miller spoke at the 2004 convention in support of Pres. Bush and the war in Iraq. Liberman has been outspoken in his support for the war on terrorism. He has been ostracized by democrats, so he had to run as an independent for his senate seat, but he won. His support should help McCain with independents and conservative democrats. I don't see anything wrong with that.

Lieberman carries no weight. He doesn't even speak well. But if he speaks before McCain, McCain will look very very good!! Good tactics.

Having Pawenty for vp will be funny. Minnesota is not ready to support him. I think it will be some southerner: why? Because McCain is letting the liberals speak, but the conservs. will notice that his real running mate is john-boy-conservative from hickville, southern state.

Romney is very much still in the running for VP. In fact, everyone of the top five candidates for VP are listed as speakers. The fact that Romney has been listed as a speaker on Wednesday evening only INCREASES his chances.

National polsters John Zogby and Scott Rasmussen both predicted today that Romney will be chosen for VP by McCain and they said that he is McCain's best choice as well (the one that would be most helpful to McCain). Apparently their polling data indicates this.

The one VP candidate not mentioned by the email VEEP critics is Tom Ridge. The situation is very fluid. Tom Ridge will be the VP choice if Biden is selected by Obama. Ridge will neutralize the Biden selection with the Mid Atlantic states and the rust belt states.(These are all key battleground states in this election.) Ridge's pro choice positions could be problematic for evangelicals. However, given McCain's performance at Saddleback, Evangelicals will still support the ticket with Tom Ridge as VP. However, if Bayh or Kaine is selected by Obama, it will definitely be either Pawlenty or Rommey with Mitt given a slight edge by this pollster.

The only reason Romney is being floated as a possible VP is to pacify the hurt feelings of the Mormon vote. It's all a charade. C'mon, folks. Romney still polls very badly among the conservative Christian bloc. I personally think Romney would be a good choice for the ticket, but McCain just won't do it. If I'm wrong, I'll gladly eat my words.

John McCain does not pacify anyone, he is a what you see is what you get. I didn't know that he was a Baptist, not a Southern, but having a Baptist and Mormon would be like having a Democrat and a Republican, it would be more unique than a man and woman or a black and white. I take my hat off to McCain if he did choose Romney, it would show political class, where he is not making religion the issue.

I also think that Romney is not a wish by Mormon's, I think that Mormon's will vote for or against McCain, based on who he is. But every strongly conservative commentator that I listen to on TV and radio, keep saying Romney. My husband has said no for months on that, I maybe able to get me a lobster dinner if it ends up being Romney :)

I have voted Republican in the last ten presidential elections. If Romney is chosen, I will vote for a Democratic candidate for the first time in my life.

Here, here, 'voted rep since '68'; that makes two (and thousands more) of us. I could no more vote for a ticket with Romney than I could one with Hillary or Obama. I do not trust the man, and he has given me no reason to do so. In fact, quite the opposite. It's in his eyes, and his words have convicted him too many times. He simply is not an honest person.

to "Voted rep since'68" and "No Romney for us" I can only think of one past republican president that I would have voted for and that was Reagan. boy I wonder about your judgment. and which President got us into Korea or viet Nam or the gulf war, and you can bet that the Iraq war didn't start over night just because Bush was voted in. In my opinion any one that runs for president is going to be scrutinized and raked over the coals no matter what or who he picks for VP. Look at what is said about Chainey and Haliburton.
