After watching Hunter "give away" the game to spanish fork last year with 45 yards in stupid penalties at the end of the game, I am glad to hear that the new coach is leading these boys in a new direction.
As a SF fan, I am looking forward to watching these two teams battle it out again in a couple of weeks.

"Different coaches have different beliefs, and I'm more of a military-style guy," said Pearce. "I'm a black-and-white guy. There's no shade in between. It's either my way or no way. A lot of people told me I wouldn't be able to do that here, (but) that's the way it was when I was here.
"I don't care if I prove people wrong because I know I will (be able to). These kids want structure ... Not to say there wasn't order when Wes was here — Wes did some great things here — it's just me doing it my way."
what an A HOOOOOOOO

Magna mentality has cherped into this log/story. Little brother should just be grateful that their Head Coach refuses to play Coach Pearce and his Wolverines.
Come drop by sometime and see the 7 region titles and the 1 state championship trophy that big brother has adorning our trophy case.
Until you actually win something out there, zip it up!

If you have any doubts about what kinds of things Coach Pearce can do for Hunter Football you will be pleasantly surprised!!! I played basketball at West Jordan High while he was an assistant and I haven't met many people as competative as he is. He brought dicipline and toughness to our team and will do the same at Hunter. Hunter Football fans should be a excited for the great things to come as long as Coach Pearce is around. Good Luck Coach Pearce!!!

The Skyline at Bingham Game on Aug. 22 has been moved to Skyline because Bingham's home field is not ready to play on yet.

So, Bingham's field is not yet finished. Will they be like Jordan last year and be on the road all year? It doesn't really matter....they will still win every game regardless of where they play.

Hunter, on the other hand, failed to convert on third down most of the time.

Cyprus the little brother to Hunter! I don`t think so. If it wasn`t for Cyprus, young little brother Hunter would not exist. Just remeber who has been around longer. Hunter (since 1990) Cyprus (since 1918). If they had not decided to build Hunter back in 90 then Cyprus would be called tailback high and claiming those region titles and that state championship. So be grateful Hunter of what you have and just remember where a big part of your existence comes from.

I attended Hunter's blue/white intrasquad scrimmage and was pleasantly surprised at the changes in the programs direction. Gone was the pre-game bravado of cheap/classless cheers and in their place was a group of excited young men who let their pads/play do the talking. These boys appear to be eager to represent their classmates, school and community with style and integrity.
I talked with a few of the players and senced that the newfound discipline was a welcomed relief, long over due. There was a newfound energy reminisant of the Mike Fraser days. From the get go it was evident who was in charge. The anticipation for something bigger/better was back.
To be successful in any endeavor a certain discipline needs to exist, without it most programs/situations end up in failure. Even though a kid won't readily admit that he wants discipline, deep down inside he knows that without it you stand little chance of coming out on top. Discipline is best discribed as a 'tough' form of love.
Don't underestimate these 2008 Hunter Wolverines.
