I had planned to vote for McCain, but I do not want
Romney on the ticket!! NO TO ROMNEY, but yes to a
Christian conservative who has some integrity and
keeps his word. May only the right person be the
vice presidental candidate with McCain!!!!!
Stan | 9:27 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Who cares, the day after the election everything goes back to business as usual with just few new faces. If you are wealthy things will be fine, either way. If you are not things will not get any better and most likely worse.
just wow | 9:41 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Wow, the dems fear Mitt badly if they are already on the offensive. They must have someone in the know about McCain's pick.

Mitt is the the only reason I would vote for McCain, and I am absolutely not voting for Obama.

If the evangelicals vote as block whipped up by anti-Mormon rhetoric in the churches, then they are are a lot dumber than I think they are. Let's at least give them the presumptive credit that they no more have their strings pulled by a few radical preachers than the Mormons have their strings pulled by political sentiment from Salt Lake City. Do thousands of evangelicals really feel that a Mormon in the White House would be tantamount to electing Satan himself? If they as a mass are really that ignorant and intolerant, then let's give them a chance to show themselves for the bigots they might be. I for one don't believe they could be that stupid. Let's put Romney on the ticket and see what their true feelings are. Romney for Veep!

What the Liberals are most afraid of:
morals -- check
brains-- check
belief in god -- check
belief in country -- check
ethics -- check
family man -- check
pretty much describes Mitt Romney!
If they're attacking him now they must be WORRIED!!!!
Romer | 9:45 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Barney Frank is one of the vilest human beings ever to be elected so it is only natural he would attack a man with some moral principles.
I hope | 9:45 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
To conservative southerner: I pray you are not trying to say that Mitt Romney is not a Christian.

As for the rest, he has plenty of integrity and has kept his work. He signed pro-life all of the 4 times a bill came before him concerning abortion while governor.

God Bless America and please bless us with Mr. Romney!
Henry | 9:46 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
He will make a fine President and untill then he will be a splended vp. Before all of that he will be the best campaigner of the R's or the D's
romer | 9:48 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Conservative southerner -

Romney is a conservative Christian! Only ignorant backwoods rubes believe Mormons aren't Christians! How many snakes have you handled at your tent meetings lately.
Anonymous | 9:49 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Hey Guys. If we vote Democratic, we won't have to worry abot Russia.
Why? because they will be our ally for "World Domination". I'snt that wonderful!
true conservative | 9:58 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Bigot! i don't think that you are very Christ-like Christian.
To Kiss of Death | 10:00 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
That's strange,I thought Romney had only one wife.Where are all the others you claim he has?
Bart Walser | 10:12 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I, like Senator McCain, am a Republican and a decorated war veteran. But the only way I would vote for McCain is if Mr. Romney were on his ticket. And yes, we could only hope for another Dick Cheney as a Vice President. Someone who isn't out to run for President, but someone who serves his country in that regard. I firmly believe that Mitt Romney would be a valuable asset to McCain's presidential campaign and an important part of his administration.
Libral Democrats | 10:13 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
All I can say is that the Devil could not have any better advocates than the Democratic Party they exlemlify making right look wrong and wrong look right, every single day......
Dan Dinnell | 10:15 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Just FACTS. Romney is a highly educated, successful leader in business turning around floundering companies such as Staples, Clearwire, and Dominos. Donates millions of dollars of his money for charitable causes. Class valedictorian at BYU, MBA and LAW degree from Harvard. During Romneys governorship MAs economy went from deficit to surplus, balancing their budget in less than 4 years, becoming the first state with universal health, official figures indicated that 200,000 previously uninsured residents gained health coverage, 45 percent drop in minimum premium costs and 34 percent reduction in uninsured. He lowered state taxes, raised fees, such as court filings and firearm licensing fees. Closed loopholes on corporate taxes. Increasing funding for education, Massachusetts students ranked #l in the nation in education during his term. Increased penalties on drunk driving. Never supported release of criminals. Took no salary at all as Governor. When the Salt Lake Olympics crumbled under financial disaster he took over for a dollar salary and made it profitable. Never first to bring up religion, Romney's been married to the same woman, values family first. Romney and his wife were awarded the Becket Fund's prestigious Canterbury Medal for "Courage in the Defense of Religious Liberty.
Trochilus | 10:22 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Best person for the job. His executive and business experience are an absolute fit with John's legislative and military experience. Successfully ran the Olympics, successful executive elective politics right in the very heart of blue territory, highly successful businessman, an articulate spokesman, he graciously stepped down in the Presidential race when he recognized it was over, grew up in the key State Michigan and knows the auto industry . . . the DNC KNOWS who they do not want on the Republican ticket. Mitt is that man.
Anonymous | 10:23 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
If McCain does not choose Romney, he will be making a big mistake. That is the only ticket in town as far as my family is concerned. We will stay home if he considers anyone else, especially Lieberman.
Rita | 10:24 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Barney Frank! He should be in jail, of course he doesn't like Romney, he is a threat to his way of living and thinking!
Andy | 10:31 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Big suprise! The dems are getting so worried about Obamas chances, they would attack Jesus Christ if he was McCains running mate.
dog and pony show | 10:39 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I cannot believe that the best this nation can come up with for political leaders is the likes of Obama, Hillary, or Romney. It sickens me.

This is one lifelong conservative that will set this vote out if Romney is on McCain's ticket. He's nothing more than a pandering, dishonest politician, that has given nothing to this nation; no better than Obama.

Maybe the Republican party needs four years of an Obama disaster; perhaps they'll open their eyes and return to their conservative roots. I'm sick to death of pretenders.
Sandi | 10:39 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Romney would be a great VP for McCain. I'm from Michigan originally and now live in Florida. Personally I'd prefer Mitt as President, but since we have McCain at the top of the ticket the only one that would get me to work for McCain is Romney.
Mael | 10:49 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Barney Frank is not a person I like to agree with but he is right. Romney is a Jonney come lately conservative and I doubt that he is a committed one with the health plan he advocated being nearly indistinguishable from Hillary Clinton's plan. He did run to the left of Ted Kennedy. I saw the debate. Romney needs to prove himself through winning a House or Senate seat and voting on hard issues before I'd ever believe his conversion or commitment to conservatism. He is all good looks and lots of cash it did not help him beat McCain even though he had an enormous head start. He will lose McCain the election of chosen.
NoBama Girl | 10:49 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I wish McCain would announce Mitt's the one!!!!

I am dying to get me a bumper sticker that says

McCain/Romney-'08
Angelo R | 10:53 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Anyone that gives Barney Frank, Teddy Kennedy, Howard Dean, and the rest of the tree-hugging Euro-Socialist-Collectivist-Dems a case of indigestion, must be doing something right!!!...

Go Mitt!
Anonymous | 10:57 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
This VP may be our president if by some chance ignorance still rules the day and McCain is elected. Can you really see Romney as the President?? He couldn't even get through your primaries.
reaganw | 10:59 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Vote McCain/Huckabee '08
wayne | 11:07 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
re: romney is just a lier,

if you only could hold a democrate to such a high standard as mitt had demonstrated. jack mormons point out every flaw in an attempt to hide behide the mistakes or words of another.

democrates have not choosen a canidate that can win can we say John Karry, how about Al Gore. fine outstanding liers especially when you compaire a few nuanced answers that romney has professed.

from my vantage point obama is not any better than those two. the only differance is that he has enough money to buy favorable press coverage. however his only traction point is that he is running against bush who has alway had a poor approval rating with democrates. sometime hopefully before he is elected we will recognize the fact that bush is not running this time around. then the cool-aid drinkers and the bandwagon jumpers will be forced to look at obama's positions and come to grips that he is not someone that we want in office.
greyno | 11:07 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Dems are just envious that they don't have someone who has never had an affair, never used drugs, has never drank or smoked and is also religious.
needhlp20 | 11:09 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
If people weren't allowed to "change their minds" then why are the candidates campaigning?..hoping people will change their minds. Romney's record shows years between different stances. Fair enough as new information comes to light or circumstances change. B. O. changes his mind on a daily basis, sometimes it's as if he forgot what he said last night or the crowd cheered louder for the other opinion. Barry O. actually sent me a letter with his platform and all of the things I heard he would hurt us with are true from his own campaign. Property tax increases will be the least of our problems when he takes the helm. Romney is the only chance of knocking some sense into McCain if he can even win. Heaven help us all.
Steve | 11:16 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Why are the Dems so worried about who is the VP candidate? They have the messiah/merciful/chosen one who will bring peace and prosperity to the citizens of the world through his social schemes. I just wonder how many "typical white people" are going to vote for this clown. Merci beaucoup!
SARAH | 11:28 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
ROMNEY MAKES "ANY "democrat" look pathetic and dumb just listen to what Dean said today !!! Everytime they "THE DEMS" open their mouth something stupid comes out ROMNEY FOR VP
Helen | 11:32 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Mr. Romney was my first choice for president. Now I am voting for Mr. McCain and I will be very happy if Mr. Romney is picked to run on the republican ticket as VP with Mr. McCain.
Lew Jeppson | 11:42 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
If McCain plus his VP candidate (whoever that turns out to be) are elected there will be no fix of the health care mess. Those of you who face going without health insurance ought to give this some thought.
Glen Brown | 11:56 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I don't think Romney should get on the GOP ticket. McCain is going to lose it unless Mitt Romney shocks the convention and becomes the GOP Party Lead. Then the GOP has a chance to beat the Democrats. They fear Mitt Romney and Huckabee and his like are bigots when it comes to having a Mormon in the White House. They would not want the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints get attention. What a great Welfare plan they have and the world wide assistance they give. The federal gov't shouldn't be giving money to faiths but faiths like the Mormon church should be helping their own. Mitt for 2012
Romney's got 'em quaaaken! | 11:56 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
It is so blatantly obvious that the motivation for these attacks is FEAR. The Dems. are afraid of Romney because he actually speaks and leads from a place of experience and knowledge - unlike Nobama, who's only strength is reading from a telepromper. Oh yeah, he's also strong at pushing a communist agenda...if you're into that.
Rae22 | 11:57 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Wow! The Democrats are really this scared!! I hope that Romney is on the ticket, but I doubt that McCain will have the desire to choose anyone that conservative. I will not vote if McCain chooses Leiberman, or Pawlenty or Ridge. Romney 2012!!
Christian | 12:17 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
As a Christian, I'm appalled by the way Huckabee and Democrats treat Romney. Huckabee should be ashamed of himself. He has embarassed us all. As for Romney, he was a better friend to the Catholic church in MA than any other other governor has been -- and he was the only Governor, ironically, who wasn't himself Catholic.
paula | 12:26 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Go Romney Go! Romney for VP!

The Democrats are afraid of Mitt Romney, they know that he would help McCain win the election.

"Conservative christian radio along with conservative Christian denominations especially in the Bible-belt would not support Mitt."

No Baptist, that's a lie that the Democrats are passing around! Quite the contrary. WE love Mitt!
Mike Moony | 12:28 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
THE QUESTION: Does McCain have the courage to pick the competent VP, even though that VP is controversial.
delquattro | 12:38 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
The establishment has given us a choice between a marxist and a fascist for president. In the mean time, I hope Romney takes the time to read and reflect on our constitution. Afterall, it's essentially national scripture.
I heart P.Huckabee | 1:24 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
It's inconceivable that mccain would not choose preacher Hucabee. choosing romney would make him the laughing stock of the extreme-christians, Huckabee would make him totally acceptable. At least, it would be sold as thus, and I think that this election is the exception to the rule that the vp doesn't really matter.
backwoods rube, PhD | 2:52 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
"...Romney is a conservative Christian! Only ignorant backwoods rubes believe Mormons aren't Christians! How many snakes have you handled at your tent meetings lately..."

If Romney is LDS, he cannot be "Christian"; Christians believe there is only one God, while LDS believe there are many Gods. Calling folks "backwoods rubes" because they disagree with you isn't very charitable my friend. Quite simply, according to scripture, Christians are not polytheists, nor henotheists. Don't mistake folks from the 'woods' as 'rubes'; they clearly have better reading comprehension, it seems.
Bain Capital | 2:58 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
"...Dems are just envious that they don't have someone who has never had an affair, never used drugs, has never drank or smoked and is also religious..."

I'm not a Democrat, but I can tell you that not one of those things (or all of them together) will get anyone into heaven.

Romney may well have never done any of those things, I have no way of knowing, but he has clearly lied time and time again. Lifelong hunter? Ring a bell? Civil Rights Marches? Shall I continue?
no chance | 3:00 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
"..."Conservative christian radio along with conservative Christian denominations especially in the Bible-belt would not support Mitt."

No Baptist, that's a lie that the Democrats are passing around! Quite the contrary. WE love Mitt! ..."

No, it isn't a lie; I'm deep in the heart of Southern Baptist country. They won't vote for Romney, even to spite Obama. They'll just sit out, or write in Huckabee.
McCain supporter | 3:08 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Someone mentioned that John McCain will pick Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate and not Mitt Romney. Big mistake. Sarah Palin is now neck deep in a late breaking scandal in Alaska that, if true, would make Richard Nixon blush. Palin is probably headed for impeachment or resignation and that makes a stint as a McCain VP unlikely.

For more information about the Palin corruption scandal please go to the Anchorage Daily News website and read for yourself. Romney has lots of competition for VP but Sarah Palin aint it!
hipshot | 3:29 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Mitt would help me vote for McCain. My biggest concern is the redefining of America by the left. Their rabid emphasis on diversity will require more restrictions on speech and thought (more hate crime laws and fairness doctrine, to start). They will tear the Constitution to pieces with Supreme Court justices who never learned to think. Rich folks who get them elected will hide their money and the tax increases to pay for social engineering projects will have to be moved to the middle class. The merit-based society will sink into the morass of boring socialism.
Michelle Marshall | 3:32 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
I love Mitt.

The more I hear the left attack him, the more I realize what a great American he is.

Underneath all the lefts self hatred, and anti-American rhetoric lies one unquestionable fact- they are terrified of a Mitt Romney on the Republican ticket.

The left have nothing. No moral character, an antiquated socialist ideology that they brush of every four years and re-present as "new and progressive", and a weak nominee, whom is more interested about being President of the world rather than President of the U.S. Even with the press in their back pockets they won't win.

Because, as usual the left to not represent most americans. Just an elite few.

So no matter how the left dress up a message, a candidate, etc..... its not going to work and they won't win. You can't put lipstick on a pig.

Go Romney!

retiredcopper | 4:06 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
So Barney Frank, a man reprimanded by his own peers for running a queer escort service from his home, doesn't like Romney and doesn't think he'd be fit to be VP?

Let me tell ya, whatever Frank doesn't like or want has to be good for America.......Franks just talked me into supported Romney.
retiredcopper | 4:08 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
I'll take 50 Romneys over 1 Barney Frank any day.
Josh | 4:15 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008
Barry Frank should be the one to talk when he was caught helping run a gay escort service out of his house and than he played dumb pretending he did not know whay his boyfriend was doing. Barry Frank is nothing more than a political hack.
