It is painful to read this article. Mitt Romney is a great man who has done nothing but succeed. He stands for all the principles which this country was based on (minus the LDS, which is not bad, but I know it carries a stigma. That said, he stands firmly to his beliefs which is more than I can say for you know who).

Whatever, I can't stand McCain but I will certainly vote for him. I will be much happier about pulling the lever with Mitt on the ticket.

BARNEY FRANK, IS HE STILL RUNNING THAT WHORE HOUSE FOR GAYS OUT OF HIS CONDO? TALK ABOUT FLIP FLOPPING. HE IS A JOKE. I PUT HIM WITH KERRY AND KENNEDY. STUPID AND OUT OF TOUCH, AND OH BY THE WAY A LIAR!
Sigmond | 2:25 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
So, Obama "blinks" when challenged by the Clintons? lol.. Well, he'll probably start fluttering if confronted by thugs like Putin and Ahmadinejad..

Mitt on the ticket would seal my vote for the Mac-n-Mitt ticket and prevent me from casting a 3rd party.

The fact that the dummycraps are all over it...tells you it must be the right guy.
Thunder Dickens | 2:31 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
How can the Dems attack anybody for flip flopping when Obama is the king of them? Barney Frank should be in jail for running an underage male prostition ring out of his house.

Companies lay people off all the time, it's the way business goes. Bussinesses are just that not a charity for jobs.
Chase | 2:32 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Barney Frank go home and make sure all the guys are out of your basement. Romney has a record, look at it, then make your own decision. One thing I really get tired of on both side of the aisle, if a person looks at an issue and finds compelling evidence to change their mind, oops, they just flip-flopped. I remember hearing the News Media say the Congress and the people were 80% in favor of Illegal Aliens getting amnesty, but we all know how that turned out, don't we. A lot of flip-flop there when the people actually spoke up. This group we have in now is the most partisan, inept bunch of low lives I seen in the 47 years I've been voting. Where's the "None of the above" box, then we could just kick them all out and start over again. The News Media needs to take a lot of the credit for this mess too. Just give us the truth, we can make up our own minds.
MassMan | 2:35 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Mitt "Spit the Bit" Romney has the biggest political "Tin Ear" of any politician I've encountered in my 23 years working in politics. This guy is the Don Quixote of politicians. He screwed us in Massachusetts by not running for re-election which paved the way for a Cliton toady named Deval Patrick, who, along with the Mass legislature, has stuck it to the people in the Commonwealth with higher taxes across the board.

He ran one of the worst presidential campaigns in history and he's being considered for VP? People are fleeing the state in droves and many blame Romney for opening the door to this catastrophe. If McCain picks this "political piker" as a running mate, I'm staying home in November and start making plans to move to New Hampshire.

Mitt Romney is as hated by the left as Ronald Reagan was. I find that an encouraging indication of how Romney would govern. I don't want leaders that Barney Frank finds acceptable.
ArmchairPundit | 2:43 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Be prepared for a landslide victory by McCain - silent majority + swing voters will make it happen. Obama's veneer is fading - the media and the East/Left-Coasters can only prop him up for so long...similar to the fate of Kerry/Gore. Plus, a forced Hillary nomination at the convention as VP (or President!) will only seal his and the Dems fate - a gift to the GOP. The Clinton's hubris will not allow them to ever go away. Anything can happen in this circus.
BBub | 2:44 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Yeh, he's nothing at all like the pervert, Barney Frank! So, Frank's calling the people in his district that elected Romney governor of his state stupid again....oh maybe they are - they voted for Barney....and his boyfriend. How amusing of the pervert.
Steve Dockstader | 2:46 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I wrote to McCain and said I that I hate him and what he has become, but if he picked Mitt Romney for VP, I'd burn up the sidewalk getting in there to vote for him...of course he didn't write me back.
Cindy Acre | 2:47 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
This article is an attempt to steer attention away from Obama and his empty campaign. Stir up trouble somewhere else, and while no one is looking - wallah! Obama will look better. But, he still doesn't.
Eddie | 2:47 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Barney Frank is a Freak. Obviously they are all afraid Romney gets the nod.
No-Bama is so weak in so many areas - the Dem's are now getting Buyers Remorse!!!
Look at the way they are going after The Obama Nation book - just released...they know too many people (#1 Best Sellers List: Amazon and NY TIMES)are just now finding out who the "Real" No-Bama Is. There are hundreds of foot-notes in the book- many going right to NoBama's books, pretty hard to fight those facts, huh. . . .
Kenneth in Texas | 2:49 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
It sounds like the Democrats seem to know more about the Republican VP nominee than they do their own.
Magic Undies | 2:53 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I hope Romney is the pick and I know just about every other Dem feels the same because Romney is unelectable. You can smear Obama all you want, but Huckabee and his band of Creationists are going to end up leaning toward Obama because he is a Christian. Do you really think Christians are going to vote for a Mormon? Christians think of the LDS as a false church filled with anti-Christ doctrine. You can try to pin Obama as a Muslim, but at the end of the day a McCain/Romney ticket is going to lose ground to Obama and a centrist VP like Evan Bayh or Tim Kaine. And to Mary who says Dems spend more---um which president has created the biggest deficit after Clinton left a surplus? That attack doesn't work anymore and you can thank the new morewar Republicans for that. You've lost the country and you know it deep down. Unfortunately you don't know what the word "slander" means.
John Doormat | 2:54 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Go Mitt!!!......If her is made the VP he will be the next President of the Country...... You can count on it...........He will do very well at it. He is a born Leader. This WWW format really gives all the FOOLs a very loud voice. To bad so sad for them that they can't see a good thing when they see it.......
ROMBO | 3:01 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008

Frankly, Barney Frank is a liberal Demo of Mass confusion and Romney doesn't even need to knock his teeth out, he's that good. Would anyone like to comment on Samuel Adams? Cheers!

Wizkid | 3:01 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
The Lunatic Left is in a utter panic when they "launch an attack" on a VP candidate...Can't the party that was against the equal rights amendment, for slavery and generally just a hateful bunch, learn to get along?
Rick | 3:04 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Well this level of hatred from dems just makes me respect Romney even more.
Gail | 3:04 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Whenever the Democrats start attacking Romney that means they think he is the best candidate to help McCain beat Obama. Notice they are not launching any attacks against Tom Ridge. (Nice guy but not a strong VP choice) Romney would energize the republican base and he is so articulate and energetic - I would love to see him on the ticket.
Georgetown, Texas | 3:05 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Barney has confused Mitt with Barack. If you want someone that is "so completely without any commitment to any particular principle and so willing to say whatever he thinks will help him win the next election" just take a look at Barack.
Irondog | 3:05 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Why is the DNC attacking any Republican if they think Barrack Hussein Obama is a shoe-in? This country is so polarized any dyed-in-the-wool Democrat or Republican is not going to be swayed into jumping ship. The undecideds are a flip-flop minority. By now we know the truths and lies of both parties so if they say something out of character they don't mean it whether it's the gun issue, abortion, taxes, terrorism, the border, big business, the economy, health care, etc...
They're all full of shat and elections are pageants. I sure hope there isn't a swimsuit competition in the future.
Captain Obvious | 3:07 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
LDS stands for "Latter Day Saints," or the Mormon Church. Whether the quote is accurate or not, LDS dogma states that it was angels who spoke with Smith, and therefore the quote the God Himself hasn't spoken to anyone since moses would be consistent.

But I don't see how any of that is remotely relevent to how good a job Mitt would do in the next administration.
Dave | 3:09 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
It sounds like the Democrats built up an attack-arsenal against Romney thinking he would be the nominee, and now they're using it before he's even the V.P. nominee. Why are they so scared--do they see another Ronald Reagan emerging?
Wilbur | 3:10 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
The Dems, talking about consistency and values, are a hoot. Their flatlining candidate has been throwing associates under the bus about as often as he changes his stance on issues -- and now, he may not even be the nominee. Today, Dean refers to the Republican Party as a 'white' Party, so that'll help (ha) collect those middle class Bible-clutching gun-toters. The Dems are a failure by just about any measurement you'd care to take these days, and they're still deluded enough to think their words mean anything to those of us who've been paying attention. They attack and scream because they're afraid -- and they should be.

Democrats want to suck the marrow out of this country one entitlement and one debauchery at a time. Damn right it's time for 'change' ... vote them all out and don't let that neophyte, that they're hustling, get anywhere close to the White House. With Dems running the show, we're only steps behind the EU in its failed Socialist programs, rampant taxation, and miserable displays of national integrity. Don't let it happen to our next generation.
Jewels | 3:22 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
There is not a single Democrat in this big, wide, wonderful world that is fit to shine one of Mitt's shoes, let alone two. McCain/Romney ticket is a sure winner, just like winning the lottery.
Atlanta Reader | 3:24 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Capt. at 3:07 - you don't know what you are talking about. But then it sounds like several commenters (not just the Democratic politicians cited) don't either. I think a few of the LDS people here should examine their hearts for some of the things they have said. Not setting a great example and being TOO defensive!

It's just AMAZING that so many people are so VERY scared of Romney, the LDS people, the LDS church, and any specter of truth when it doesn't serve their purposes. Why is that? What have we done that is SO FRIGHTENING? We have done good works and been good citizens (for the most part - there are a few exceptions as with all groups.)

Brian | 3:27 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Hysterical! The Dems are launching a preemptive smear campaign on a guy who isn't even a VP candidate! What insecurity!

Incredible, Romney is that threatening to the Dems and he's not even on the ticket!

McCain, this is a wake up call, it's obvious who your VP pick should be if you want the W in November.

Barney for Veep | 3:27 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Barney Frank is right on. He would be the best choice for Obama's Veep. He is the smartest, cleanest, most articulate Democrat in the House of Representatives.
chris | 3:33 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
For decades here in Utah the Dems have been demonized for the abortion issue; none of the comments online here dare mention the abortion issue. All seem to dance around it, few dare bring it up. I am happy Romney is and has always been close to the Democrats in heart, and in policy. His parents and wife were and are pro-choice. Wake up Utah---good people are pro-choice. Nobody is saying abortion is good----all Americans are against it, we just disagree about whether the mother should go to jail and in this Romney votes with the Dems. In the 1980's he claims he was not a Reagan man, but independent. I wish Romney well in his future endeavors, whatever happens in future elections, he has shown many Utahns that you can believe in "choice" and still go to church and still believe in God. I voted for Gore and Kerry and I love Mitt Romney.
Flip-Floppers | 3:36 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
I thought Republicans did not like flip-floppers like the Mittster?

Hey, Democrats- quit throwing that type of name calling back in our faces. That's not fair!! Republicans are the name-callers!! We have it patented!! Rather than discussing the issues, it's easier to call people names and sling lies in chain emails, blogs, and on Faux News. That way, we Republicans do not have to actually understand the issues. It worked for George.

The whack-job right wing extremists and their crazy views and conspiracies are pure comedy!! Keep 'em coming, extremist nutcakes!! I'm sure you're wearing your tin hats.
debbie | 3:35 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
The democrats don't have anything on Romney because he is clean? Howard Dean came out today and said the GOP was for the white vote. Howard Dean is so stupid he doesn't even realize Condelleesa Rice is in Georgia right now. Then there is Powell and Sowell. Maybe he's color blind. Republicans don't look at color, we look at character. We don't see color until the Jeremiah Wrights yell DAMN America. Obama is so dumb it took him 20 years to figure out his preacher preaches DAMN America just like our enemies do. 20 years is a long time. The left wing media has never told the truth. If they did we would have heard about Edwards a year ago. Maybe one of the reasons the left doesn't like Bush is he is faithful to his wife. Thank goodness there are still people in this country that are faithful to their spouses. If Howard Dean thinks republicans are just for whites then the democrats are stupid to believe him. All I hear from democrats is give me give me, give me likes dogs. Hope they learn how to beg, bow wow and do tricks for their convention.
Roy | 3:35 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Let me get this straight- 62 million evangelicals oppose Mitt Romney and that would seem reason enough to oppose his position as VP. Get real! Without your support, Barak Obama will be elected president of the United States! You will win the argument but could plunge our country into a liberal morass for decades to come. You will long regret this decision. Mitt's the man! Face it! He's got it all and deserves the v-p nomination. In sports and politics WINNING is everything. Wake up.
boozy | 3:39 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
well at least he looks presidential..Owama looks like he belongs on a gang banger b-ball team....
Doug | 3:42 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
No, no, no, no...the best one is reading about Barney Frank talking about someone else's inconsistencies and shortcomings. What they didn't print is Frank's comment, "The only way he could he could elevate himself in my eyes is to have a prostitute working out of his house like I did mine!"

And the Chair of the Dem Party in Massachusetts should work harder on getting people elected in his state and stop losing high profile races. Pathetic sots, all.
Eric | 3:48 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Why would the Dems attack Romney so quickly? Must be really worried that he will be picked. Great economic mind, has executive experience, which neither candidate has, and is well thought of in two traditionally democratic states.
davegchicago | 3:50 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Barney Frank of all people has the nerve. A guy whose "boyfriend" whom he put on the government payroll and operated a male prostitution ring out of Frank's home.

I am so sick of these liars and liberal hypocrites. Edwards (two Americas) is another one.
American dude | 3:51 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
The Democrats know that the greatest threat to Obama's candidacy, would be McCain nominating someone which has all the pluses that make a powerhouse of a GOP ticket. If they hadn't felt that Romney had viability, they would be delighted to have Romney be nominated and they wouldn't unleash the spin against Romney.

Mr. McCain: If you want a viable running mate, go to the one that the Democrat political hacks hate the most. Their hate stems from fear of a Republican candidate with viability, as opposed to hate that results from opinion differences.
aceygrl | 3:52 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
They attack Romney beacuse they fear Romney. Romney on the ticket would be slam dunk for the Republicans.
Nocommies nobama!
Brian | 3:57 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Mr. McCain: Remember that 'it's the economy stupid', and Mr. Romney has a flashy economic resume to flash to the American people. Bear this in mind in your selection process.
EXDEMOCRAT | 4:06 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Instead of telling all of us what they are going to do for America, they go negative, again and again. Well, I guess that is to be expected from the folks of the far left since they have taken over the party. They don't have a plan, except to divide America even more than it is. And please, don't say that Obama is a uniter, when that is so far from the truth it is funny.
Anonymous | 4:07 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Of course they're attacking Romney he'd clean their clock on the economy! Romney will be the pick and with his financial genius, his campaign infrastructure already in place, and his organizing and business skills Barry the empty suit Oprah candidate will get sent packing back to the Senate were he belongs so he can get some experience. He's completely and woefully unqualified especially in the dangerous would we live in today.
William | 4:08 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Comments from the worms mentioned in this article are compliments to Mr. Romney. Democrats are mentally ill (see Lyle Rossiter, "The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness"), and they cannot be cured. Their egos will not permit them to admit their illness. Each organism contains within itself the elements of its own destruction. In our case, Democrats are that signal element to the destruction of our country. Sad.
William Weber | 4:12 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Either the dems are afraid of Romney being on the ticket or they are being extra clever and are trying to make the GOP think that so they won't pick someone else they really are afraid of. Personally, I believe the former as I have never seen the dems do anyting remotely clever.
observations | 4:10 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Obama has overwhelmingly earned the 2008 Gold Medal for the "Flip Flopping" sport!

Mitt Romney & John McCain with their combined experience, in all areas of importance, in being the President of this country, would make the best team we have to vote from. They want to preserve the constitution, our country, it's people, and our way of life. Both are Christians which drive their character. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints are Christians in every sense of the word. In the ticket of, Romney & McCain, both know we have freedom of religion, and there is to be no "State" religion. Mormons would not rule!
Mormons have always been misunderstood by many others, and that by those who misuse information about Mormons, create unneeded fear. Obamanites,
don't realize how close to communism they will live if he is elected. Communism can begin with Socialism. I have had experience with communists of varying kinds and know how they think. My parents, from the FDR era, my father a WWII veteran, wouldn't recognize the democrat party they believed in. I am a Republican, and a Christian from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints, nicknamed Mormon.
Johnny | 4:17 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Sounds like Romney is they guy the Dems fear the most and would be a sure winner. Romney for VP and then Prez later.
Millie | 4:22 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
When your opponents scream bloody murder and try to attack your guy, he must have something they are scare about. In this election, Romney has everything they are worried about. He is the right guy to stand against their ticket. Senator McCain and the RNC, if you want to win and more donations you need to pick Romney.

Go Mitt!!!
Douglas | 4:48 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Barney Frank must be unaware of two senators from Mass... With that said, changing your stance to fit that of the people, is not exactly a bad thing. I thought that was the left's big beef with Bush? That he should change his stance to fit the will of the people? You never can win with Democrats.
Justy | 4:56 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
It sounds to me as if the democrats are a little... ah... scared of Mr. Romney. They understand what Romney brings to the ticket. And please... a bunch of left-wingers ripping on Romney I'M JEALOUS!! Where's DNC page ripping me! Mr. Romney take that ad campaign as a badge of honor.

As a conservative I would be ecstatic if McCain Romney as his vice-president.
RL | 5:18 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
WOW! 277 comments so far. Good grief, this guy can get the attention. I, for one, can't stand the comments by the democrats, regardless of my own feelings about Mitt's supposed flip flopping. Talk about full of themselves. Not one of those men can honestly claim that they personally aren't guilty of what they accuse Mitt of. Hypocrites. And I question the authenticity of their assestments as well. But either way, they are hardly the ones to be judging!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And even though I agree that Mitt and others like him are what this country needs in congress, I don't want to see him run with McCain. Too much bigotry still out there. I'm sick to death of the ranting about mormonism from those who know nothing about it, but insist they do. And I'm sick of seeing just how much hate is still out there regarding my own very personal religious beliefs. Yes, this ostridge wants to stay that way for a little longer.
