I think you have underestimated this group of kids. As sophmores and juniors this group rolled in all of their games without Lesean Wilcox who was on the varsity team. This team is a contender this year. On August 22nd they will show that they are the best team in Utah County.

How do you consider picked to win the Region underestimated?

yeah, i'm sure Timpview is shaking in their boots...

actually Timpview IS worried about PG this year. why? last year they only scored 14 points against pg. once on a kickoff after halftime and the other on the only sustained drive they had in the game. there isn't the same returning talent they've had in years past. the offensive line is hurting with only one returning senior starter and the loss of tui crieghton. although i'm sure coach wong will do a good job in getting his line ready. probably the biggest factor is it's the season opener. anything can happen and pg is looking at probably one of their best teams in awhile for talent and varsity experience. don't overlook pg.

P.G. is probably the most talented team in the County but that doesn't always translate to wins. The QB's are a huge ? but if one can step up they will dominate the Valley. Wilcox and Owens will run for a ton of yards and should take the pressure off the new QB, at least at the start of the season. Good Luck PG hope you win it all. TAKE STATE

the Qb's are fantastic-trust me. The Lloyd kid can throw it 55 yds on the line and they are both accurate as they have had at PG in a long time. The Senior is good too, just a little slower but good. I watched them play us and others at U of U and Weber St camps. They won 90% of thier 7 on 7 games at Camps, winning one of the 4 College Camps I hear. They will be solid everywhere and can throw it very well. Plus they have a great TE that was always catching everything. They always play tough D. The RB's will be fast. I think they are solid at RB, QB, WR's are OK, but thier main issue will be if they can block. Always the million dollar question in football. My boy has played against this Junior group for years and always got pounded; but AF is back and we have momentum. We beat a lot of people in our 7 on 7 games this year also. I am anxious to see the Timpview results. That will be a good measuring stick. Should be a great Region!

I really hope you didn't mean to say that PG has more talent than ANY team in Utah County. I hope you meant to say any 5A team in Utah county..

Timpview has 5 kids with D1 offers and more are likely to come for others..

Who does PG have? Wilcox?

Just wanted to clarify your previous post.

The game against Timpview will be solely based on how Timpview plays. If they struggle breaking in a new quarterback it might be a defensive battle and somewhat close, however mark my words, PG will not score against them for the second straight year.

I got $500 bucks says PG will score. Candy from a baby. I will meet you at the scoreboard and we will exchange. Let me know and I will meet you 30 min early.

Pretty bold statement when you havent seen the opponent. Timpview is, and until they are beaten, the real deal. But you are crazy on that one and I will take you up on it. Better yet, another $500 they score in the first half.

PG 20
Timpview 14
Lets Hope | 10:35 a.m. Aug. 13, 2008
PG isn't totally predictable this year! They have a lot of talent, but the coaches spent way to much time padding their egos when this group was younger instead of getting lots of people quality experience.
To utah Football | 11:35 a.m. Aug. 13, 2008
Sounds good, I'll take you up on that offer... Email me at nathanialryan@gmail.com and we'll make the arrangements (and we should meet after the game, NOT before. I hope you meant it that way..
$$$$$ | 12:43 p.m. Aug. 13, 2008
I'll meet you both there and hold the money, till the game is over! LOL.
Lets Hope? | 1:58 p.m. Aug. 13, 2008
i don't think the coaches pad egos the way you think they do. pg doesn't run up a score because as soon as they get a comfortable lead they start throwing in everyone else to get their younger guys some playing time. the only ego they've padded if anyone would be the wilcox kid.

i also agree with af red. the real test is going to be pg's offensive line. they've got the talent and the kids for a good line but it's going to come down to the coaching. is sampson going to teach them newer techniques or the same old stuff he learned back in the sixties?
Joey owens | 4:14 p.m. Aug. 13, 2008
I will make a bet that Joey Owens will be one of the best players in the state this upcoming year. I think that Bronson Kafausi is the most talented in his class, but i feel that Owens will get many D-1 offers. He is a man among boys right now and is only a jr. I agree with everyone else, P.G.'s Achilles heel will be their offensive line. If they do what they are supposed to and protect the backfield, PG will be very successfull this year. Wilcox is a stud, but has had an ego go to his head to where he doesnt think he has to practice very hard. Good Luck PG

i don't know why everyone will be so shocked if PG gets shut out this year. they were shut down by Timpview last year and timpview returns three d1 players on defense (badger, bills, kaufusi) and many other starters. plus pg only scored 10 points the year before. i guess we'll wait and see, but if they do get shut out, it's not going to be a huge surprise
AF RED | 4:44 p.m. Aug. 13, 2008
Sorry...I am just not familiar with Sampsons techniques being an outsider. Go get Timpview and hopefully we will play you for the Region Championship at the end!
RE: Joey Owens | 4:07 p.m. Aug. 14, 2008
Very good comments. I've personally seen Wilcox workout all Summer. So, what are you talking about? Maybe he makes it look too easy.
D-1 schmee one... | 2:03 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
who really cares how many D-1 prospects are returning for whatever school. anytime you get D-1 prospect from timpview it usually means they're going to byu which really doesn't mean jack. you think having a D-1 label means anything when your a junior or sophomore? it means you better not screw up and a have any crappy years after that. a prime example would be that silver kid from copper hills. he was labeled a D-1 his junior year and look what happened to him his senior year. nothing. you never heard about him because everyone ate his lunch.
PG Fan! | 4:22 p.m. Aug. 15, 2008
Come on lets be a little more realistic. Timpview is a good team and i hope PG can win but enough with the trash talking about D-1 prospects. That doesnt mean anything until your ACTUALLY ON A COLLEGE TEAM! PG has mostly been the underdog in most games they have played in the last 5 years. They have proved they can improve and win games that they statisticly should have lost to. As a PG Fan i hope they can do well but if PG wants to even be a threat in the post season they will have to step it up! Go Vikes!!!!!!
Viking | 9:56 p.m. Aug. 17, 2008
D1 prospects means nothing until you can show yourself on the field, when the game is here, the whole timpview team could be D1 prospects for all i care, but you need to show it on the field, and the vikings won't have any of it, they have there own stars that should step up and this game should be a good one. Go PG!!!
Anonymous | 6:22 a.m. Aug. 19, 2008
Show it on the field?? I think Timpview has done that against PG. when was the last time PG beat Timpview.. early 90's??
re: | 3:15 p.m. Aug. 19, 2008
be there friday.
PG Fan again | 5:56 p.m. Aug. 19, 2008
umm sorry timpview fans enough with the stats about pg not winning timpview since the early 90's. Stats dont me anything. Statisticly speaking PG the last five years has be the underdogs and has earned the right to be respected by winning teams they should have lost to. Just think if PG does win friday than PG will get more respect and if they dont theyll still have enought respect.
Old Fart/PG Fan | 7:00 p.m. Aug. 19, 2008
I absolutely love viking football and have watched PG's games for over ten years. Here are my predictions and concerns for this years team...

Prediction: Joey Owens and Lesean Wilcox will combine to run for over 1800 yards this season. They are work horses.

Prediction: The offensive line will struggle at first but be a force by mid-season.

Prediction: PG wins Region 4 outright.

Concerns... Defensive line. PG had a pretty solid D-Line last year with two fast and athletic defensive end but both are graduated. Who can step up?

Concern... QB situation. I know Brady and Loyd are some of the best pure athletes on the team. But who will start? I think Brady will if he is anything like his older brother.

Well there is my 0.2. Go get the Bird's PG!!! Ill be there friday

i think everyone needs to shut up about who is better than the other person... im sure half of these people dont even play football so what do u know? yeah timp view beat us. but u know that was a great game and i have high respect for timp view but we gave them a run for there money. we made a lot of mistakes but they can be fixed and after letting loose on provo all we can do now is get ready for riverton! ill always have a high respect for timp view, i think the players get along with each other on the field more than these ladies on this comment box. its called class something i think both of us teams have. im pumped and ready for region to start and well take region and prepare our selves for state.
