Exciting Things are afoot! | 11:43 a.m. Aug. 14, 2008
I think one of the most exciting things about what is going on with Provo football is the creation of the Provo High Booster Club which has not only raised thousands of dollars for the football program but will raise thousands of dollars for the athletic AND art programs of Provo High School.
Kudos to Coach Pope and Coach Drury and the Provo HS administration for letting parents get more involved with this endeavor. Long lost relationships with former alumni have been reestablished and community relations haven't been better. Not only will this benefit the football program but will benefit the school and community at large.
I hope the parents (and the administration) will be patient with the coaches with the wins and losses. I think the coaches are doing a great job teaching the skills necessary for the boys to compete. There is also an atmosphere of love and service in the program which is also great but it may take some time. I think steady progress is being made and Provo HS in a few years could be a consistent football power once again as it was in the 1980's.
Best of luck to Coach Pope and players!

An atmosphere of love and service??? are you serious this is football not sunday school. Thinking like that is why Provo football will never be dominate again. Do you think there is love and service on Timpview's feild?? No they play football up there!! Be Patient with the wins and losses??? again are you serious!!! coach pope my be a nice guy but if he cant win football games have him teach love and service on sundays and lets get a coach who will teach our kids how to compete and win. no wonder the D News picked us to finish last in the region we are going to be out on the field loving and serving. I would like to go watch a football game on friday nights not a fireside. looks like im going to have to watch the other school in the provo district.
