Why?
you lost respect?? | 6:42 p.m. Aug. 11, 2008
wow everything this desnews writer said was pretty accurate . It is going to be extremely tough for Springville to pull better than a fourth place finish in that region... what did you expect this team to finish first in region and win state? sorry but unless each of their lineman gain 40 pounds and scott mitchell decides to suit up it is going to be a struggle for fourth... I know its tough for springville fans to hear the truth but that is just how i see it... Prove me wrong.

I'm not the original reporter, but I lost respect because he gave the Red Devils false hope. If they get fourth it would be a miracle. Scott Mitchell isn't going to put a dent in the disaster that is SHS football. Just a high-profile name to distract the town from their dismal team.

Must be a fan of the former coach.

there is no way springville gets fourth, they will be lucky to win more than 1 game
Mistake | 11:01 a.m. Aug. 12, 2008
Mitchell is going to be a good coach. And Ed Larsen and Junior Ioane are going to be great assistants. But I agree that he made a mistake in letting some of the good ol' Springville boys (Bills, Newbury, Geuck) be part of his staff. Too many players and parents who want to get away from their style.
Red Devils Struggles | 2:56 p.m. Aug. 12, 2008
The Main problem this program is going to have is the opening of Maple Mountain. Springville is going to lose potential athletes to a new school and this is tough for an already struggling program. There may also be transfers to get away from the good ole boys at SHS. Mapleton's youth programs are already far superior to Springvilles and some of the coaches in those programs are better than some of the Frosh / Soph coaches at SHS. In 3 years MMHS will be superior to SHS...
Well | 7:04 p.m. Aug. 12, 2008
At least they have good teams in other sports, like their state champion swim team, to distract them from their pathetic football boys.
hope in other sports | 7:39 p.m. Aug. 17, 2008
that's true, they do have sports in which they do a lot better. Their soccer and baseball teams both took 3rd in state if i remember right. And it was cool to have the number one wrestler in the country be from Springville.

You are so right about the good ol boys from Springville. This program definitely needs a change! Good luck! This town needs a breath of fresh air!!!
